Thank you for your instruction. I love the sand drill to check out contact with the ball then the divot. Very clear to see. I screw this up way too many times. Swaying, too hard of a swing, lack of confidence are all factors I have in hitting the ball fat or skinny. I am continually correcting these bad habits. Your instruction has provided me the correct way to hit the ball with my irons. It is really nice with a correct swing to hear and see good contact. It gives you a most gratifying experience.

Simplified and very effective instruction, especially bunker drill feedback is excellent idea. Keep it up sir!!

Very nicely done. I'll have to try that sand drill. Some days I hit my irons great, and some days I can't hit them at all; there is no middle ground. I need to isolate what is going wrong on the bad days, and thus, make every day a "good iron" day.

The thumbnail says "8 iron before tweaks 124.3 yds. 8 iron after tweaks 174.9 yds." This is pure clickbait BS. "This swing tweak added 50.6 yds to my 8 iron!" Said nobody EVER LOL.

Off topic. What brand of golf pants do you have on. So many brands these days are,so tight around the legs, but these seem to give some room

this will help me on par 3's when I tee the ball up. when the ball is just off the ground I get better results as when its to flush with the ground I get a chunky shot. To high I get the thin or sculled shot. On longer shots in the fairway I don't press the club as forward but do it softly while moving my inner body towards the left thus getting a a true shot feel. I noticed your longer swings that you did not move the club as strongly or as forward. I will take this to the range next to try this out. My only real problem is getting to remember the correct way. This 6 inches between my ears are the worst part of my game.

The number one mistake amateur golfers make is you hit from the top. Learn when and how to accelerate the golf club correctly. I see it ALL the time with my amateur partners in Pro-Ams. I see good setups and backswings only to be ruined by hitting from the top. You must learn when and how to accelerate the club correctly or you will never be able compress to ball.

Correct setup with a completely still head throughout the swing ensures that your spine remains slightly ahead of the ball. Assuming you're not casting and have proper release, the spine dictates where your divot begins

Most golfers know or should know, the number stamped on the bottom means very little. In my hay day, I could carry my 8 iron 165 on average, I also played to a 6 hdc.

When im playing good, i hit my 8 iron 150, thats old clubs and weekend golfer... i have no doubt if i could play more i could get to 160

The part so often missed about compression....is how relaxed the wrists need to remain....to allow the club to whip....to regain the lag with proper timing and force. The problem with such a huge number of amateurs....is simply gripping the club too tight...and keeping the shoulders way too tight...with all shots...including chipping and putting.

Thought you were supposed to hit ball first.

Ball and ground at same time. Short pitches is definitely ground first, but shallow.
@ianrichards1839Күн бұрын
It’s a three dimensional puzzle. The bottom of the arc has to be a couple of inches in front (target side) of the ball and low enough to get the middle ( vertically and horizontally) of the club on the middle of the ball. If the bottom of the arc is too low or too high or too far behind the ball or even ( for very goods players) too far forward, the result is sub optimal. There is a reason why average handicaps remain stubbornly high. So when he says ball and ground at the same time bear in mind that the club is still on the way down so it’s only making initial contact with the surface when the ball is struck. However trying to do that didn’t make it happen for me. I have to look at something three inches in front of the ball to avoid grounding the club three inches behind it. Good luck.

@dontrapani777820 сағат бұрын
I clicked on your video because it showed the difference between an 8-iron hitting a ball without compressing it, and then with compression, and the "without compression" yardage was exactly how far I hit my 8-iron!! So sure, I'd love to hit it farther, although at 75, I don't think 176 yards is going to be my goal. My main problem is that I have good shaft lean on my practice swings but when I put a golf ball down for a real swing I just don't get the same shaft lean. I will try your bunker practice tip. Thanks!

For crying out loud this is a bunch of BS, I’ve played golf almost 40 yrs and I”ve never seen any amateur hit an 8 iron 174 yards. Since Tiger hits his 7 iron 180, I’m sure his 8 iron is 12-15 yds shorter.

There's absolutely no need to hit an 8i that far. The video makes some good points but getting that distance from an 8i is nothing to strive for.

No. Too much conversation. Please stop, Peter. Every golfer with an accent likes to swing like Montgomery, like a loose noodle that turned gay. Stop it. It's not a reliable swing, and it looks stupid. Swing like Nick Price, a 2-step swing, not a loose noodle. The weight shift occurs as the arms drop down to your pocket. You do not have to start the weight shift before the end of your backswing. That is what looks dumb. It's NOT like throwing a baseball. Take your backswing and pause for two seconds, then drop your hands straight down to your pocket. Period...
