i love this bike i had a 2017 and now i have the 2024 and it runs and sound amazing
@rosendo35236 ай бұрын
I also have it and am pretty disappointed with the performance. The Euro 5 restrictions really choke it up and I'll have to spend the best part of £1000 to get it right. Then I'll have a bike that's louder then I'd choose it to be. Not one 'journalist' mentioned any of this when they reviewed the new model. Hooked on those manufacturer launch perks, I guess.

Another good one Peter! You're right about this bike, it's an absolute blast to ride! My buddy has a 2022 one with a flashed ECU putting 165 HP to road and gobs of torque; not sure of that number, something like 85 lb/ft.

I have a 2023 MT-10 SP and I kinda wish there was an option to have the R1 engine specs in the MT-10. The torque is cool and all but my buddy’s R1 power wheelies the same as the MT-10 and he says the low to mid range is usable. Granted his is modded and tuned, but it seems to behave fine in the street.
@PeterLoweOne7 ай бұрын
Oh, I don't think the R1 is not suited for the street, it's not that it doesn't have useable power, but there is a difference. Having said that, when you start with the same engine, you're not miles apart at the end of the day. I think the R1 is great, but I'd take the MT-10 for the comfort. I always like to remind people that every motorcycle is a compromise, no single motorcycle does everything perfectly. Motorcycling is about choosing what you prioritize, and being comfortable with what your bike is not, as much as being comfortable with what your bike is. My Z900RS SE is great, but it's not an adventure motorcycle... so even I have to be comfortable with what it's not.
@95racing277 ай бұрын
trust me you don't want an R1 engine in the mt10 the bike isn't made to go faster than 150mph you should know that. in that case buy an r1 and install a more comfortable handle bars

Just get the MT-10 a new exhaust, air filter and ecu tune and you'll have more wheelie power than you can really manage.

The last gen caught a lot of heat for the transformer bug look, which I loved, but this one swung completely in the other direction and looks way too vanilla. The whole MT line looks......safe, and thats not a good thing for bikes that have a tagline that says "the dark side of Japan". I wish it weren't so bc the last gen are selling for more than new and are hard to find and this gen is just boring, but you can find them.

I cant believe Yamaha discontinued the R1. It had so much potential to be a great road bike with all of the features including the features the MT-10 has. Digital display, fuel gage, ABS, Traction Control, Active suspension for your weight and or riding modes from track setup to as soft as possible for long trips ect... so much potential wasted just really disappointing from Yamaha.

Just go test ride one. You'll know if the front looks, which can be improved, and the scroll wheel, which can't, is a deal breaker. For me the character of the bike outweighs any personal shortcomings I perceive. No bike is perfect but the MT10 suits me as a fun bike. The R1 is being discontinued as a road bike so who know how long the MT10 will last. Yamaha are pushing their MT twins and triples but the sound of the cp4 is where is at for me.

Owning both this and a tracer 900gt, the dash thing is typical Yamaha. Parts bin cheap. They probably figured to save money, so they kept using it when they could. Thankfully it’s very easy to read, but my old eyes would’ve liked it a tad larger. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
@PeterLoweOne7 ай бұрын
I don't think you can say "typical Yamaha Parts bin cheap" when every major manufacturer tries to use MANY key pieces on several of their bikes. Would it be nice if the display was larger? Yup, it would but many manufacturers use one dash over a large variety of bikes.
@user-hf8ie8mf3n7 ай бұрын
@@PeterLoweOne Sorry, I wasn’t clear. Instead of updating a dash, they simply grabbed a well worn model. The xsr did the same. I own a first gen, and they completely dropped the ball on the second generation using the mt09 dash. Just doesn’t fit the aesthetic of the bike. Typical conservative Japanese company. The 10 is using the R1 dash, and how old is that? They can do better. 😵💫

465 pounds you neglected to state. Not real light but not a total pig.. I own this identical bike and no salesman should neglect sharing the FACT that is model is a gas guzzling tire eating monster....I mean someone COULD ride it more gently to improve on that....but what the heck would be the point of buying it then? The rear S22 on mine was to the wear bars by 600miles and that was me following the break in.....well ridden twisty riding just destroys the S22s...a bit better with other tire models
@PeterLoweOneАй бұрын
First, I'm not a salesperson, second, the weight is listed in the spec sheet. Most of the time my reviews flesh out what's on the spec sheet, rather than repeat it. Third, if your on the wear bars in 600 miles that's a specific problem to you, not the bike. What I'm really seeing is that you have a different perspective than me, and I actually appreciate that. But with such a different perspective, you should make your own video on this bike. More videos is great. It gives people a variety of perspectives.
