The wobble is there because of the CMOS moving around in the camera and the lense being wide has a little distortion. I don't really understand exactly how this works but I guess unless you use a gimbal, all sorts of in-body stabilization has some warping effect unless you do all the complicated distortion fix for every frame
@Xirpzy2 жыл бұрын
I believe its the combination of ibis and lens stabilization. As the light and the sensor move it creates distortion. Maybe it could be fixed if we could turn of one of them.

I have tested the new firmware update on my R6 with 14-35mm, it is still there. It is better but still not what I'd consider good. If I had R5C, I'd rather use that than R3 or R5/6. @VitorGuerreiroVideos2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Those distortions in the background are an obvious motion tracking issue from motion tracking algorithm that doesn't crop the image. For the most part when you track footage to stabilise you have to choose anchor points (the areas that it will stabilise the image to), so it's natural that at least sometimes the other parts of the image get distorted, that happens bc it has to compensate somewhere in order for the chosen area to be stable. Other wise, you'd shoot higher resolution, stabilise the chosen area and crop until the rotation/motion transformations applied don't make the frame clip/show the empty/void beyond the footage. IDK how these things are being done these days (been some years since I did motion tracking and visual effects stuff). But yeah stabilisation usually used to be a compromise: crop the footage size to get no distortion or not cropped but the image has to be distorted to fix the aspect ratio/frame and keep the chosen area stable as well...any way... That's why usually mechanical stabilisation is usually better...here they're stabilising the image real-time with software..

I haven't paid attention to the wobble issue. Is it specifically when digital IS is on or does sensor IS do it? The R10 being a better camera than the EOS R is completely expected. You're comparing a new camera to one that's what, 5 years old now? I'd be suspicious if the R10 WASN'T better. You've got several years of tech capability and development trickling down.
@CristanBoerg2 жыл бұрын
@@loudandclearmedia Well, yes and no. It is not about technical development, it is about unwillingness of canon to implement features in the EOS R which already were available in the EOS 80D, which is way older than the R! The R would be a realy good camera, if only the software would be upgraded!
@loudandclearmedia2 жыл бұрын
@@CristanBoerg Yes, newer firmware is always nice, though I expect you'd quickly run out of processor horsepower to do a lot of the latest stuff. Keep in mind that this 5 year old camera was developed around only one media slot and 8 bit internal video recording, even 4K having a huge crop. Please don't think I'm suggesting the EOS R isn't a capable camera as it certainly is, but the speed of the sensor along with the speed of the processing I suspect will limit it from being able to implement a lot of the more common features nowadays like full readout 4K and video tracking autofocus and such. Hi Peter .. a few years ago i picked up the Canon EOS M50 after your early morning video on it .. it has served me well for the better part of three years, but now it's starting to slow me down .. it crashes on occasion, and has me waiting whilst it switches from movie to manual as i've started to take on more serious projects and have the potential to take on more, bigger and better - i wrote a list of things i wanted in my next camera, and then assumed when i go to find a (Canon) camera that would qualify, it was just gonna cost me as much as my car however, pleasantly to my surprise i went to window shop on canon's site .. and was presented with their brand new Canon EOS R7 - not only did it tick all of my boxes, it wasn't at the 5,6,7 thousand price range i was expecting - only £1400; a lot, yes - impossible, no. if interested, the new features i was looking towards were: - keeping a similar form factor with minimal changes to my work / handling flow - dual sim card slots so i can have a backup - either staying at 24 mps or higher - being able to shoot 1080p 120fps with sound and autofocus (right now, to shoot 120fps, it's done in 720p, with no autofocus whilst filming, nor any sound recorded.) -_- and somehow, expecting to spend a thousand on my next camera anyhow, i found everything i wanted, and more at a reasonable £1400 🥳 my point; please make a video on it and convince me to pick one up in the next year 😅

I've always used Canon, but the more I keep seeing other companies who actually listen to their customers & give them what they want, the more I'm starting to consider switching systems. By the time Canon fixes their wobble, other companies will be like "Uhhh yeah, we sorted that out like 30 years ago bruh". And by the time Canon finally decides to let third party lens companies make RF glass, nobody will give a shit, because they'll already have all the lenses they need from Sony & Nikon. As much as I love the Canon system, the Canon "Hype" is dead! & they're just dragging their feet & simply don't listen enough to their customers.

I have been eyeballing an R3 but have yet to pull the trigger because, it is a strange camera. It's almost like it was designed for the sole purpose of getting older 1DX sports shooters into the RF system...but then they put 6K RAW in it as well. 🤷♀ It's difficult to discern at only 24MP and $6K who this camera is for when the competition is doing similar speeds at much higher resolution.

You’ve never looked old by any means, but the shave and bringing back the longer hair actually does make you look younger in my opinion. Crushing it, dude.

The update did nothing for the IBIS. It only changed the Digital IS. But yeah, it seems to help. I have the 14-35mm and at 14mm I didn’t really see much difference with the wobble before/after the update. Did a bunch of different types of shots. It sure is better now, but not dramatically at 14mm. It’s probably just too wide for IS
