@xedarkrunner516710 ай бұрын
I see where you are coming from with your opinions, and in many ways I agree, however it doesn't really sound like the R5c matched your workflow and your needs. I may sound like the most biased canon user of all time with that sentence, and that might be right cause my own personal equipment consists of Canon cameras, however working as a full time photographer using Nikon mainly with a Sony A7iv occasionally, and really enjoying them, I can't call myself biased either. Nikon has killer color science, even better than the infamous Canon one (I expect a backlash on this one, haha!), while Sony creates this special soft yet sharp images which I find unique. But there's something about how a Canon camera handles.. ergonomics, menu system et cetra that just sticks the landing for me. All in all a camera is aperture, shutter and iso, with fancy specifications beyond that to sell the product. I see most people have been swapping to Sony, even my colleagues, and I'd say it's mainly because Sony marketing is on point, where other brands are keeping more silent. Tons of lens options are nice, but in many cases less is more?

Yeah it’s the hand feel of canon units that win me over every time. I can’t say I notice drastic differences in image quality between Sony, Canon or Nikon (but there are some), however I just feel more confident with canons layout and how the body feels so I just use that. Guess that’s why we have choices though, eh.

I would have issues with the ZV-E1 missing various features compared with the a7S III and FX3. There's no mechanical shutter, for a start, and while its electronic shutter is comfortably fast enough for video, it's significantly slower when it reads out in the 14-bit mode used for stills, as indicated by the 1/30 sec flash sync speed. It also uses the simpler stabilization unit from the a7C, not the one used in the a7S III and FX3. So I don’t understand why Sony decided to gimp the ZV-E1 since it lacks a viewfinder they still went with a subpar rear screen which is much harder to read than the one from the FX3 or a7S III.

R10 if you want to buy just 1 camera that can do everything Well for the next 7-10 years. Canon has 4k 60 fps (6400 doesnt). Canon has a much better camera body when it comes to grip. It has a rotateable screen that makes Vertical shooting 100 times easier. However if you Plan to Upgrade soon depending if your going to be an enthusiast that wants as many lens Option in all kinds of budgets as possible I would go for Sony 7 days a week. Sony 6400 does have a Magnesium body and therefore has weather sealing if its important for You. R10 if you want 1 camera for life and dont need the super budget lens Option And 6400 if other way around PS: and if you say, "Well I found out I like doing videotography much more than Photos" then Sony is King with its Video focused cameras like: (Aps-c: Zv E10, E10 II, FX30, Full frame: E1, FX3)

I’ve been feeling the same… I even have a R5C just as you did Dealing with the same issues And what’s sad is I’m sure they’re going to add firmware updates to keep up with newer cameras coming out If they add more AF options such as the R5 and R6 mark ii and more compatibility via usb c port for full functionality with the RS3 Pro we’d be set. It’s insane that so many cheaper cameras have better AF than a $4500 cinema camera.

Just commented on your other video with the r6 and this video was what I saw next. I agree that Canon stop innovating. I never really saw it coming to where I would jump ship, but I think it's happening soon. I've been waiting for the new cameras that will be coming out, but it's taking them too long and honestly, I don't trust that they will have fixed issues that have been in previous cameras, more specifically the overheating. Like I said in the other video, I don't care what cool things a camera can do if I can't use it because it's overheating.

Dude you are spot on here. The waiting game with Canon is so long and if they don't fix and update what they need to, you're stuck in the same spot. Sony makes moves, maybe too many moves but I'd rather be with a brand that is innovating rather than trying to play catch up

Hi Zac, Good to see you walk through your experience with R6 to R5C to ZV-E1. I’m a hybrid shooter and had the GH5 (still have it), then went to S1H but when I needed to do more photography and the bad AF stubbornness for years, I moved to Sony with A73 and A7R4. Sony was behind on video so I went to Canon R5 and R5C (for the reasons you mentioned on R6, R5 had same until they got exposed and fixed on firmware updates which should have been there in first place). Went and bought the ZV-E1 and happy with it as well. I keep both Sony and Canon and realized that is cheaper than switching and selling for under as both brands continue to compete and upgrade. The biggest issue is muscle memory and making sure it works with your workflow and it doesn’t stop you from creating. They all have workarounds if you want to hassle with it. Pana is to manual. Canon R5 was using Ninja 5/5+ or external recorders. R5C, I used the Core SWX Powercore Edge Link 70W and shoot all day. Can use this setup for any long form and although heavy, I can use hand held without a gimbal and it’s stable enough, no micro jitters. Every brand for some reason find an annoying crippling to consumers that want to encourage me to go make one that doesn’t cripple. Sony has many selection and 3rd party lenses on one hand, but on other hand, so many comes up and you wished you didn’t buy yet as more features come out and they don’t update the firmware. It seems it is their business model, we give you a lot and you buy what you get. We come out with more, if you want more, buy some more. Canon on other hand cripples the features until exposed and then they do firmware updates but cripples 3rd party lens manufacturers until everyone jumps. Anyhow, there’s always tradeoffs and so buy or switch with what works for you and make you the money. It’s not set in stone to be loyal to some brand when they’re not focus on you being loyal. I enjoy using both Sony and Canon and use them for both professional and personal work as what is needed but need a lot of storage and good organization to remember where I put everything. Am looking forward to the R5ii vs R1 vs A9iii comparison from a hybrid shooter to see how they stack up. Otherwise R6ii is a good alternative as well. I’m seeing it for $1800-$1900 in the grey market which was what I paid for the ZV-E1 when it was an open returned item on B&H 3mos after release. You got a new sub!

I guess, im the lucky one who doesn’t have autofocus problems. I have a R5 and I don’t have overheating problems since update 1.6

Have you ever considered Blackmagic Design Cinema Cameras?

I genuinely understand your Opinion, but somehow... i can`t give up on Canon! I loooove the Colors, the Handling, the Menu... and i know the Features that are lagging in Comparison to Sony, but somehow, it feels like Family and somehow, i`m sad to see you leaving the Family... but, good Luck and Bye-Bye Zac! 🫡✌And... I hope Canon will catch up again soon! (i mean, thge R1 Specs are looking ridiculous insane!😮... not that would be my Pricepoint, but maybe... some Kind of Adaption on a smaller Body... with quad Pixel AI AF, Dual native ISO, stacked Sensor and so on.... i still have Hope! 🙏😁

Canon nailed so many things and the fact that you can sort of feel attached to the brand in so many ways show how much Canon can do correctly. Just one too many things go wrong and it's an impulse buy over to the dark side... 😅 I hope you'll stick around!

Yeah. I love Canon, but they make it so hard to love Canon!

Hi, if money is not a big issue for you, then go ahead and get the a7r5, most definitely one of the best stills cameras today. If you are nore on a budget side of things, buy the a74

Will always use Canon for Photo but I’ve had my eye on the ZVE1 + a compact lens (maybe the 40mm 2.5) for some time
@Vincentecreativeservices10 ай бұрын
I recommend the Sony 28mm f2, it's a cheap small first party lens that is so pocketable on the zve1. It's a great street photography set up. AF is a little wonky, the motors are slow, but the image is incredible.

And yet the best value hybrid camera is r6 II, also Canon ergonomics, you can't beat that.

Canon is lol, after 8 years of the RF mount they still don’t have any RF f1.4 lenses ahahahah, think staple lens for me a 24mm f1.4 and a 50mm f1.4 they only have the bad f1.8 versions

Ah yes. Solution for all problems humanity has is buying Sony... It was really that easy to ditch everything and switch to Sony? How much money you really lost in the proces?
