Eric Hilliard Nelson (1940-1985) was an American musician and actor. From age eight he starred alongside his family in the radio and television series The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. In 1957, he began a long and successful career as a popular recording artist. He sadly died in a plane crash in 1985. No copyright infringement intended. All shared from You Tube with thanks. R.I.P. Ricky

He can’t fault it in any shape or form the way he presented himself the way he sang the way he did things his old band. It was brilliant, the whole lot of them they were brilliant, and that’s what I missed today. Is that sort of talent today’s talent is great. Yes but not like back then back then is brilliant. These were the days when us teenagers were blessed to have good CLEAN beautiful songs with meaning. Today the junk that is mostly out especially "rap". It's really misspelled when it should be spelled "Crap!" I miss the 50s and 60s. I had my own rock band in the 60s. It was called "The Crimson Blues". We were blessed to rub shoulders with Jimi Hendrix, The Blues Magoos, Jim Morrison. This is just a few. In 1968, this crazy fun woman came up to me, after I finished playing the drums "Wipe Out", and hugged and kissed me because she loved the way I played the drums. Her name was Janis Joplin! Such memories! I'll be 74 soon. I still have my drums I bought new in 1964. I miss those early days!!

good memories. sadly you met those that left us so quickly. i was an '80 teen. but grew up with oldies from across the spectrum (nobody said genre then) granny loved elvis, mother loved do-whop, mo-town & folk songs like peter, paul&mary , she loved mr nelsons songs. pop liked jim crocre, CCR, paul simon & art Garf. , lynard skynrd, motown, john cash, and after a long seperation. we was together in 1989 & i cranked up some G-n-R and he liked them. and none of us liked rap. there are a few songs out of millions that rap as lyrics fit the song structure & is a compliment to the song but most of the rap songs are an attempt to mask lack of ability to sing. imho

I was born in the 50s listened to alot of music on a small record player. There were 6 of us sitting on the floor like little Indians that we were. Ages ranged from 8 down to wee baby brother on my lap. We sang waving our arms in ryrhem to the music. We werent glued to the tv or cell phones. Mom didnt allow tv on until after dinner and chores finished. I am happy to have had these beautiful voices and many country artists to listen to. Tv consisted of shows such as Bonanza, sky king, micky mouse club, romper room, captain kangeroo, my friend Flicka. Many more too long to list. A much more relaxed family affair than what today's children are accustomed to. Thank you for allowing me to tell you some of my childhood

Ricky was a better singer than Presley but Presley had more showmanship. They knew each other but there wasn’t a competition between them. Just my opinion.

14u20, Ricky Nelson, had Heeft, Heerlijke Muziek. Maar Elvis had de Stem van een Engel. Het Meest Speciale wat ooit bestaan heeft. Het Grijpt Ieder naar Z'n Hart ♥️🌹👍

I don’t think it’s fair to compare the two. They had different styles. Ricky leaned more into the charming boyish crooner style, like a young version of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Obviously, Elvis was a sort of crooner too, but he was more of a rock and gospel singer, and was a more masculine type. While Ricky Nelson had a great voice, he usually sang the same way. Elvis frequently changed the way he sang depending on the song and genre.

Rick(y) Nelsons parents had a number one hit in 1935 with a song " And then Some ". His father fronted his own band Ozzie Nelson & his Orchestra. His mother was the featured singer in the band. Ricky had number one's with 'Poor little Fool" and "Travelin' Man' . His twin sons Matthew and Gunner had a number one in 1990 with a song ( Can't live without your ) Love and Affection. That therefore makes the Nelson family - I think - the only family in history to have number one hits over three generations. I am now 82 and he was my idol back in the day even more so than Elvis. Personally I see a striking similarity facially between the two especially around the eyes and mouth. However, what great music back in that era more than 60 years ago. I would bet they won't be playing today's music in 60 years time
