I have seen all the videos of Saudi Arabia so far and I'm very surprised about how good the people speak English. I mean, go to Paris or Barcelona and most random people on the street will not be able to communicate with you like that in English. My impression is that the Saudi people (let's say the millennials) are very well educated and ambitious. Great job Peter for showing us another side of Saudi Arabia.
@esom91524 жыл бұрын
That's because the government sent more than 150 thousands students all over the world to complete their education and then return back home in Saudi, and it is still happening. I was one of the luckiest students to complete my bachelor in the US. This also helped with having Saudi families become more open minded to other cultures and religions

I have mixed feelings after watching this series. On one hand, I think it’s good that someone is showing a different side of Saudi Arabia that we westerners rarely see. But at the same time, we rarely see this side because of our own ignorance. It’s not up to the people of the middle east to try to explain to westerners over and over again that they aren’t like media tries to portray them. It’s up to us as individuals to stop being so ignorant and stop believing everything we see in the media and practice fact-checking and common sense. That’s the true problem here.

I liked everything *but* that part of the video. Saudi looks really cool but the religious stuff seems really illogical and fluffy. She is saying “closer to god” as if Islam is the way to “god”. Reminds me of how Christians talk about their religion. Every religion thinks they are right but lacks evidence to prove their claims. Hopefully Saudi and the rest of the world starts to be less religious and looks at our religions as mythologies as we look at the greek and roman religions today. Modern religions like Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, etc, sound just as hippy dippie and crazy to those of us who weren’t programmed from a young age by religious indoctrination. Always knew that how Saudi was portrayed by the media was wrong but dismayed to see the more liberal Saudis clinging to superstitions. We have science, human rights (a human construct, not made by religion), and technology. We don’t need religion anymore. Still respect their hard work, kindness, and sincerity though. They seem very nice.

moser bear only a man with very low self esteem would say something like you have just said. I am an educated woman living in the west and have raised, and am still raising 4 children. I do not run around naked and have time for my children. My husband supported me when I said I wanted to study further, but he is a confident man and not afraid of an educated woman. We have trust in our relationship and love and respect each other. When you love someone then you want what is best of them, and that will indeed make you happy too. My husband could see the value in education, no one was more proud of me when I completed it than him. A woman is not there to be a slave for your needs, she is there to be your partner in life, to help you be the best possible person you can be. What are you afraid of?

Ilham ALI I would argue that business women in the US don’t make a habit of flashing their skin in the workplace. There is a huge cultural difference here between the average working woman and what you see on TV, which is Hollywood fantasyland and reality TV stars trying to be relevant any way possible. These industries (fashion, music, makeup) are mostly marketing to/preying on the young crowd - 25 and under. In that world people think you’re dead once you turn 30. If you saw someone like that walking down the street in an average US town they would be completely out of place and people would look at them funny wondering why they’re dressed like they’re about to hit an LA nightclub.

Dear your online mom: I am here living in the US for 27 years, and thank you for sharing your land with me. I tried to give as much as I take. Hollywood in (America) and the Egyptian Cinema in the (Arab world) does not represent you and I. having said that they still a bad case of cancer that is infecting our Lives. It is well thought studied attack on our kids, families, and morals. Regarding my comment: 1-I was only highlighting how the media undermining covered Muslim woman. Vewing us as un educated, and helpless. 2- The sisters in the video, they are one of many great examples of successful Muslims women. 3- I was speaking to our smart Muslim daughters, they don't have to take there hijab to be successful. Finally: This is to all women who is Muslim or not Don't sell your flesh for success,but buy you success with your brain. WE WOMEN ARE NOT PRODUCT. With all love to you my American sister❤

Ali Ali I’ve lived many places in this country - east and west coast. Pick any average town in the US (not a major city) and you don’t see the average person walking around like a nightclub vamp especially not at work. Again, the low cut dresses and super makeup appeals to the younger crowd that’s all about drinking and partying. Right now, I live in Vegas. And yes, any night on the strip you’ll see just that. But go less than a 1/2 mile out to the regular neighborhoods and everyone is just average wearing t shirts and jeans.

Liquidity from VC and PE is growing as well, beside the government sponsored investments funds, there are many big VC and PE funds (local & international) are coming to the scene. I'd advise you to look at local startups in crunchbase and other sources for better understanding of the market.

Peter: I've watched many of your travel vlogs, but I have to say for many, many reasons this is one of your best. I can't imagine how many women will be inspired by watching this wonderful example of female empowerment.
