A throwback before the renovation but so informative! Thanks, Leslie! I saw quite a few cars I had not seen before in the current collection. "The Mystery Car!" Was it ever figured out?!

The Petersen Museum is a Must See for anyone who likes cars. They lost track of the fin theme, but the other cars are fantastic, and any look is a good look.

The Delage reminds me of a Duncan bodied Alvis 14 (circa 1950). And I bet they haven't got one of those.

Ca. 13:40, your "mystery car" brought immediately to mind the first Corvettes, surprised to know it had Ford platform & running gear. The side panels are unmistakable.

19:01 the Ghia is so amazing! GM should put it into production!

Yes it is amazing! but maybe Fiat Chrysler FCA should better build it to original '54 designs of Virgil Exner etc. Then GM. Please read my new Ghia info at the Petersen Museum full episode VV Productions etc. this should steer you in the right direction for the correct story etc.

Ghia also built Chrysler Corporation's Imperial Limousines from 1957 - 1965 Mdel Years.

On the Ghia Streamline, Ghia ultimately built the 50 some bodies for the mid 60's Chrysler turbine car. This might have been the concept that got them the work.

The car in 13:54 is a custom justicialista, an Argentinian fiberglass body car, originally it had a Porsche engine

About the Ghia segment -In 1954 Virgel Exner, Director of styling at Chrysler created a model, to show his ideas at Aerodynamics that he wanted his design staff to start using as he wanted to make into production cars! The model was seen by Ghia's Chief of Styling Giovanni Savonuzzi who instantly wanted to make a real car based on this shape , the back was completely different with the fins being vertical as the model had more unique and practical subtle curved graceful fins that would have been more practical for production and actually better looking for the car! The front also was even more Aerodynamic on the Exner '54 Model etc. But it was inspired by the model! This was at least the first attempt at the production of really modern Aerodynamic cars for later production! Don't forget from start in 1920's Chrysler already wanted a Aerodynamic Streamlined car and came out with the Airflow etc. So this was a Real Technically done shape in '54 etc! The car did have a small motor in it a 1.5 liter OSCA so it could run itself! The back was like it was because don't forget Chrysler already in '49 / '50 was doing the Turbine etc.! Then the first real attempt for a production car was the '56 / '57 Chrysler Ghia Dart Diablo Convertible! that's the basic correct story that was completely unmentioned by the curator giving the sparse incorrect info, How did he get the job!? and is so unknowledgeable!? It was a decade later that GM seems to have rediscovered or copied the original Exner model for their '64/'65 New York Worlds Fair cars that were shown there and also the styling models full size, one of which is mounted at GM's Design centers main entrance in Warren Michigan etc!

Regarding the '62 Chaika....Russia is very good at reverse-engineering. They did it with a B-29 bomber and produced the Tupolev Tu-4 bomber. It's not hard to imagine they may have purchased a mid-fifties Packard and done the same thing.

0:13 What is it.....I have seen a picture of one with a similar trunk/stern area, car was made of tulip wood and riveted I believe, this kinda looks like a copper body.

This was at the Art Center car show in Pasadena. Host Lance Lambert says: "That car was a custom made car and not a specific manufacturer. I don't recall the details other than it was a big deal because it was all wood and rivets."
