WOW !!! The thing about these tours is they make me realise I'm not crazy having cars, models cars, 📚 on cars, magazines on cars, posters of cars, 🚗 wheels, car parts, etc. etc. .. everywhere !!! Thanks for the wonderful tour Peter !!! Being from Australia it's nice to see Jim Richards' historic JPS 6 Series in such a loving environment, and in such esteemed company (if one could hear the conversations in the warehouse once lights are out, eh !!! 😂) So looking forward to Part Two !!! Also, I ❤ what you said at the beginning; words to the effect of, whatever you can afford if you love it, you're along for the ride .. what a lovely sentiment .. on that point, I'd love to know where it all began .. as I understand it one of Nick Cage's (who's real last name is Coppola (yes, that Coppola!)) first cars was a Triumph Spitfire (btw, thanks for the great videos on the Spitfire a little while back Team Petersen !!!) Thanks again Peter, and as always, thanks a million, zillion to everyone at the Petersen for making this happen !!! Such a cool tour !!! Take care everybody .. see you all again soon !!! 😃 .. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 ...

Thank you for he kind words Stevie..... Just a quick answer to your question. It all began as a poor kid growing up in South London England. I imagined a car was a symbol of wealth, neither parent drove ever and the only people I saw with cars, I considered wealthy, if you had a car you had made it. Started work at 8 years old in a street Market (East Street) just getting tea for the stallholders and 13 years old in construction, only went to school when made to by the truant officer. When hard work brought some success a car was the symbol of having made it, obviously the first car wasn't that great (Austin 3 liter) but it was a car. Life has been kind, success continued and that dream as a young child became a passion, a passion that has consumed a big chunk of my life, and I would never have had it any other way. I love the history, the people, isn't the best part of our hobby the people,?

I have to think it shows some personality trait I can't comprehend. Obviously, as i say in the video, I feel a car guy is a car guy and it's the passion we share. But, even if somebody else feels differently, that so of course their choice, but to look at a car video, one has to presume you are a car guy and then to actually bother to put a "thumbs down/ dislike"???? Well beats me.,

Peter, thank you so very much for sharing this. My father instilled in me from a small age the love of cars. My father growing up owned a late model Maserati Mexico, and would let me sit in his lap and cruise around the block. I also would sit in the garage with him while he worked on it(which happened all the time), and he would tell me what he was doing, and the proper way to do it. My father absolutely loved bmw and the 2002, and the 3.0 CSL. Many years later now that I am retired from the army I am starting a collection and bought my first car for my collection it’s not anything special but it’s special to me it’s just an old E39 540i M-Sport, it’s mine and I have wanted one since high school, unfortunately my father recently passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack but he would love this video and tell me all about those cars and it really made my morning and made me think about my father. I wish he was here still to work with me on my car but I will honor his legacy by working on it and making it perfect but my bit as j in get the money. Thank you agian the video really was incredible!

Thank you Chadwick for sharing that story of your Dad, its truly heartwarming and great you have that memory and connection. Maybe they will show on Friday, but there is one or two cars in the collection that will not seem obvious to people and one of them is the Mercedes 190 SL. I spent 12 years restoring one on the UK when my boys were little, when I moved to the USA I didn't realize how easy things were to ship and sold it. Many years later my boys became men and told me how many of their memories were of me working on that car most weekends and when I found one again, the one you will see, they both said how happy they were that I had a 190 again :-) By the way, the E39 540 sport is a great car, enjoy

What a nice humble man. Love your collection the JPS e24 is a legend here in Australia. It won the Grp A Australian Touring Car championship in 1985 and should have in 1986. It also led the 1985 1st and 2nd the Bathurst 1000 and both cars came off on corner 1 on an oil spill and were beached on the sand. They would have won that race without doubt. Love the E9s you have. Wow! Just wow! I’m a classic bmw nut so your garage is mine in my dreams. The E9 batmobile is my absolute favourite car of all time, yours are amazing! Well done sir. After my E36 M3 evo saloon in Boston green (pretty rare in the uk) sadly got stolen I bought a plain boring old E92 330d as a stop gap. 3 years on I can’t bring myself to part with it and have spent way too much money on it such as bilstein suspension and a quaife lsd. it’s absolutely nothing more than a daily driver really but has been a very reliable old friend so I love it. If I ever find myself in the position to get another M3 I wouldn’t sell the E92! Weird how some cars get under your skin eh?

Agreed Derrick, sadly one of those stories we have all heard or lived. When they were $100k I never had a $100k, when they were $400k, I could maybe stretch to $60k, but $400k was dream territory. Then I as I got successful, the story continued, until there was a time I could have maybe done it at a stretch, but now they were $700k, but I still thought they were a $400k car and on and on, sum of the story, I never got a 507 :-( I cant remember if I talk about the boat in the video or not, but if I do, the second half is out tomorrow and as a 507 lover (thats two of us) I hope you find the boat interesting

The collection is impressive but the obvious miss from this era is an E12 M535i and an E12 Alpina B7S Turbo. There were many racing E12's campaigned including the Bastos and Lotto cars to choose from since he wants a racing and street car. The video seemed to end really abruptly, too.

Hi RenaissanceMan, glad you like the cars, I wont ruin the stories for next week, even I have not seen the finished video, but I will explain one car - Blue car to the left is the Jaguar Royale (lots of info on the web) great history, delivered to the West coast in 1955 as a Jaguar Xk 140 MC, raced in 55 and 56, in 57 acquired by a gentlemen of the name Anderson, he commissioned a very famous Californian customizer in the 50s/60s named Joe Wilhelm to do a very CA customization on this car. What you see today is what he built, it went to Pebble Beach in 1957 and came second in class, it then travelled the country winning awards everywhere, including a third place at Pebble Beach again in 1958. The story doesn't end there, in either 59/60 Paxton Superchargers squired the car and used it as a test mule for their McCulloch Supercharger, at sometime in very early sixties it went back to Joe Wilhelm to fit indicators in the front wings, it has not been touched in anyway since and was invited to Windsor Castle in the UK in 2018 (one of only 60 cars) but sadly I had a clash of schedules and couldn't make it happen. I will be interested to see what you think about the Flex when you hear why I own it ? :-)

This one is in the collection because of its BMW history, it is one of only three BMW 507 powered boats ever made. This was made for Helm Glockler or Porsche fame, there is one other Abatte, they also made racing hulls for Alfa Romeo, Maserati and as you mention Ferrari and thats why the were chosen for this project.
