The Petersen Museum may be familiar to a lot of petrolheads, but if it's new to you, let us fill you in. We had the pleasure of a private walkaround in the world's best motoring museum and if you give us 15 minutes, we will take you around some of our favourite machines.
The variety on display at the @PetersenMuseum is staggering. With lots of different displays on at once, there is literally something of interest to every part of petrolhead culture.
We even had access to the famous vault and don't worry, we've plucked out a few of those in our favourites.

Small correction, the coachwork of the rolls royce was done at the time by Jonckheere, a Belgian company (not a Dutch one)

@ Goodwood video team, check out the Louwman Museum in The Hague, The Netherlands. It is an extraordinary car museum, 10.000m2 with literally hundreds of cars. Relatively unknown but definitely one of the very best in the world.

I had been to the Petersen a number of times when I lived in LA, but I hadn't been there in probably 15 years when I visited last week during a trip to So Cal. The number of cars and exhibits they now have (Porsches, Motorama cars, movie cars, Tesla, and more) is spectacular. It should be on any car person's list.

Bigger correction: Ghia is pronounced with a hard 'g' as in geek. Too many mistakes for this to be enjoyable; and surprising that nobody at Goodwood thought to do some basic fact-checking...

Would have been nice to get a series of videos from this place seeing as you've gone all that way. Also they've got one of those Jags from the Bond film in Beaulieu. Not so far to go for most of us.

Filaschi is pronounced with s hard "c" for the "chi" syllable. Amazing that with so much Italian in automotive nomenclature and terminology that so few bother to get it right. It's not snobbery, it's respect.

No less than eight XKRs were used for filming, all of which were formerly Jaguar Cars engineering development fleet vehicles that were converted by Jaguar’s own Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) in conjunction with Pinewood Studios’ in-house special effects team. All eight cars were painted the same green as Jaguar’s Formula 3 racing team with Dorchester grey body kits, an R-performance option interior with Recaro bucket seats, 20-inch silver Detroit-style road wheels and Brembo brakes. Half of the XKRs were standard two-wheel drive XKRs (some supercharged, some normally aspirated XK8s) with cosmetic modifications. When filming moved to Iceland for the dramatic car chase on ice, however, the remaining four XKRs were built on a completely bespoke four-wheel drive chassis: an XKR bodyshell was fitted to a shortened Ford Explorer 4x4 chassis. One such vehicle, dubbed "Special Effects Car 1 (SFX1)", was modified with a Ford Mustang 302 cu. in. V-8 engine, modified Ford Explorer front suspension unit, subtly flared rear wheel arches, unique offset Detroit 20-inch road wheels and highly modified front under-bonnet body structure.

The Phantom 1 was found in a New York junkyard, there are quite a few pictures of it. The owner most likely active in construction due to the cement found in it when restoring it....or to add weight to customers who didn't pay😮

that car was sold by the shah due to the low quality of Iran’s roads. Mohammad Reza Pahlavi did not use the car much until 1959, when a man named Houshang Jalili paid 2,000 rials ($275) to own the second-hand, abandoned Bugatti. 275 Bucks!

Figoni and Filaschi had not only the full depth front fenders, but also the highly distinctive chrome accents. The "metal cowling" is generally referred to as a "tonneau cover." This man knows nothing about cars.
