The smaller tractors like the 85, up through the CX series were all built in Doncaster England, home of IH of England. The 85 series is basically an 84 series with a different hood. The 20 series was the last to use an IH engine (had a Case IH badge). When it came to the magnum series they were about 90% IH and 10% Case. The power shift trans, FWA and front axle, rear end( 3 point) cab and pto all IH. The engine and rear axle are both from Case. IH already had the Magnum on the drawing/in development at the time of the merger and after the dust settled Case engineering did have anything new to bring to market, and the IH did.

All depends on which Case IH. I have a 385 which is a little brother to that 485 and it is exactly the same rear end and transmission is in my 464, which is a true international. I have a cx95 McCormick which is the same basic tractor as a cx90 Case IH. And that is the old 50 year old engineering technology from the British international plants they were good tractors. I also have a 2017 75c Case IH formal. Good tractor not as good as his earlier built ones were but none of those earlier about ones are as good as the old letter series and I also have you figure you've got 75 year old tractors and they're still running and then daily service somebody did something right somewhere

All the newer tractors aren't going to last like the old ones. Stuff isn't built to work these days. I've always said if I had money to buy a new one I would buy an old one and make it like new. Great video, I think the little Case ih would probably be a pretty good tractor, sounded good.

That’s very true, and with all the electronic crap the younger generation thinks they need, is nothing but a nightmare when you get rodents in it or when the electronics are goofy and then the company won’t support it anymore and your stuck with a few tons of scrap iron. What a wasteful society we live in. I use older stuff mostly as it’s more reliable.

If you're baling hay and you're allergic to ragweeds you'd appreciate the cab. I just saw a soybean special sell for $1,100.00. Can't remember the model number. It was in good shape too. Clean looking drill.

My take on cabs is like this. If the A/C doesn't work your better off with an open station. Give me a bonnet any day. On a side note, the wide front SMTA diesel would be super cool to have.

The 485 is an IH with case decals. That was the first series after the 84 series IH. That same basic design stayed through the 3120-4240 in around ‘01? They tweaked it along the way but the drivetrain kept the same basic design all the way through.

Almost all our auctions are online. All our auctions will put a 2 minute extension after if a bid is placed within 2 minutes from closing. This extension is applied to every bid until nobody contests anymore. I agree that the newer tractors do nothing for me. I don't usually include any equipment post 1990, regardless of the brand. Actually the cabs are good on the 1066. Ours does not have air conditioning, and it's not bad. However, it will get air conditioning. I prefer the 66 series cab to the 86 series cab. The Super MTA Diesel would be nice to get. Very rare. I have the Super W6-TA Diesel.

Got out of trucking driving after all of the emissions rules. Think they have places in North Carolina that allow for the tearing out of all that diesel engine killing junk. Did drive a Peterbilt with 7 million miles on it...definitely was tired but still ran local runs just fine. Huge fan of the old rice patty Kubotas. Everything Attachment getting some bad press of late but huge fan of the idea of what they've been doing for Years anyways. Saw a great John Deere for sale today and thought would make a nice way to haul boats around the boat Yard. Huge auctions going on in Florida right now from a massive building market collapse there and presume this will start spreading all over the US Southeast now. If the crash gets bad enough might look into semi with a lowboy. Zero interest in US pickup trucks in the least that's for sure. Maybe a battery powered one if the prices ever came down! No dealership support means i won't touch anything but a kayak at the moment tho too. So much of farming is rock farming anyways 90% of what grows on a farm is rocks.
