I liked the taste of this blend when I've smoked it few years ago. It is also the only empty tin that I miss from those I've smoked. I collect one empty tin/pouch of each blend that I smoke, but this one was lost at the piper's gathering. Due to the tin label it is not older than May 2016. STG 10-number code on the back label reads yyddmmxxxx (xxxx standing for batch number). Have a pleasant Sunday Brian, Janez

Good Morning and Happy Saturday. As always enjoying the review, drinking coffee and smoking Six Pence as I watch. As for some video ideas, I think one subject that would be particularly helpful would be one about reaming a pipe. As a pipe maker and having inspiration from other makers maybe you could also look at pipe makers, give us their history and maybe some examples of their work. Another possibility would be tobacco manufacturers and their history. Just some ideas to throw at you. Have a great weekend.

Not sure if it was posted, but that tin was from Sept 9th 2019. The code to the right of the bar code is the date and batch code. It starts with the year, month, then the day it was produced.

Morning Brian, i am glad you liked this one as well. Its not more than 2 years old but this blend ages very well, its made by gawith for peterson unlike the rest of their line, very similar to rum flake by gawith have that mild lakeland essence . I one of top aromatics in my humble opinion. Be well my friend. Look aaaat it

Nice review, Brian. I used to smoke Hyde Park frequently a few years ago. HP seems quite burley-forward, and the toppings belie the strength. It's supposed to be a Lakeland blend, making it unique among Peterson's offerings. However, the more recent tins of HP tasted different to me. I could be off base here, but my impression is that it may no longer be manufactured by G&H. (Nobody besides G&H makes Lakelands!) So the maple & rum flavors approximate the older version, but are not the same.
@beans3164 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm very interesting thanks for the info I need to get busy just not enough time haha
@ukpipeandcigar Жыл бұрын
You are quite right. G&H stopped making it in 2018, probably then made by STG. The new version has half the nicotine, and is now just a Virginia/Burley with a mild rum topping.

I'd love to see someone do a series on the best value for aging tobaccos. For example if someone wanted to pick out a few blends today to smoke 5 to 10 years from now, and wanted to spend $X, what would be the best way to spend it? In other words, what blends do you think have aged the best in your collection that you can still get at a good price?
