"Let's see what I can break today". "This field isn't gonna harvest itself". "They're gonna leave the parts on the backside of the building, behind the tree, in a box". Love these!! What a relief when harvest is done! At least you don't have tobacco stripping to look forward to. :D What you do have is a massive harvest that makes KY fields look downright puny.

omg... my parents owned a small cafe in eastern Colorado. we would contract out with local farmers and harvest crews to bring out food. my dad had farmed some when i was younger. so he was glad to make it easier on them. we would stay open for them sometimes till well after midnight so they could get a chance to relax. almost everyday one of the foreman's or our locals would ask us to stop by "insert shop name here" on our way out. or can you drop this off when you get back. we took messages for the guys( late 90 early 00s) just basically the hub. the crews would drop their thermos's off with us at night. by next morning's they were washed and filled with fresh coffee. breakfast sandwiches and such ready to go for the ones that didn't make breakfast. which was always the same for everyone. so to be easier on the cooks to have things made in advance. man i miss that. it was really hard work but you knew you were getting paid nice and part of something so much bigger than our little area. thank you for the happy memories.

Or the getting the parts (its a 3 hour round trip!) Love being a farmers wife but it cracks me up. Now onto splitting wood before hunters are back or hunting if you need food or . . . Onto fixing all the things that broke! Then in January there's the magic blink;-) the one that says next year will be better and all the hard stuff is forgotten 🤣😉

I know you are getting married this afternoon, but we REALLY need to get this truck back on the road" " Honey.... yeah.. I know you are in labor in the delivery room right now, but do you think you can run the grain cart later today?" " Uh... Larry.. small problem... that 85 acres you did yesterday.. yeah... that's not OUR field. I don't know who owns that corn"

Didn't know it is so common to have somebody work on the wrong field. Happened to me at my first job on a farm. Fortunately it was only a few acres and after harvest. No harm done, just did the neighbor a favor.
@alexdrake99313 жыл бұрын
@@beatekreuzer5025 lol... the wrong field scenario has only happened once with us. The custom combine operator was supposed to be doing a field a couple miles from our farm for us. When I got there, he was just starting in the field beside ours and I assumed he was doing it for the owner before he got to ours. So, I parked the semi and called dad to come get me so I could bring the grain cart. Once I got the cart almost there, he was calling me asking to dump on me. That's when I realized things just went bad.
