You offered wonderful information in clearly spoken ideas. Now my bead studio is set up in the four areas. Thank you for your great ideas. It took me a good three months. Now I have also addressed my painting and sewing areas as well. Wonderful to use your ideas to create my dream studio. Divided into three sections it is wonderful to create.

That is really awesome to hear!! And I'm not surprised that it took three months - to get it right. Any serious crafter owns way too much stuff to make that happen in a weekend. I'd love to see photos, it you have some. I'm glad it helped you make your dream studio!!

Mr. Walsh, I can't tell you how grateful I am for this particular youtube video. I have a 13 year old daughter who is an artist and crafter and knitter--basically all the visual arts. I have struggled for years to understand why she has to keep everything out in the open, why she needs so many supplies, why they must be all stored near her work space, why the pretty containers never work for her. Now, thanks to this clutter fairy lady, I get it. Thank you for the tips of the 4 categories (main supplies, embellishments, books, and tools) as well as advice for CLEAR (not translucent) storage, and a label maker and a way to store "in-process" projects. All of this has been needed by the little artist in my home, but I had no idea why or how to help her. We have our organizing work cut out for us, but now I know what the plan is, and I thank you. : )

This is probably one of the best videos I've watched...and actually I watched it when it was first posted here and I am proud to say that a lot of what Gayle talked about in this video rang so true for me that I actually internalized the messages and have been slowly but steadily incorporating her ideas and suggestions as I've been working reorganizing my craft space. I have added see through stacked blocks on my desktop where I can house all my most used tools as well as markers and pens. They are easy to see, grab and use. I also ordered some risers designed for nail polish which I am using to house most of my inks and sprays and some of my paints. I can quickly see the color I want, grab it and just as quickly and easily return it to it's home so it doesn't become clutter on my workspace! Such freedom in that -- you have no idea! Well, maybe you do! LOL There are other ways I have been subconsciously incorporating her ideas into my craft, but those are the most recent additions. I just got excited because youtube recommended this video to me today and I watched it nor realizing I had seen it already until I started watching and as I watched I just kept going, hmmmm,, that's where that idea came from! So thank you, Peter and Gayle! :)

I love having my supplies on display so I can see what I have and also because It looks beautiful when it is all organized in color order. I'd love a tour of what was in all the containers Behind your work desk and other than your roommates trays. I know this video was 3 years ago now, but I'm still interested in knowing. I have amassed quite a lot of beads and findings of all types - gemstones, seed beads, pearls, glass pearls, Czech glass, etc. Haven't found an organization solution yet that covers how many beads I actually have. Sad, I know.
@TheClutterFairy
@TheClutterFairy 5 жыл бұрын
LOL! Not sad, but typical! I have findings in segmented boxes in one place. I have seed beads out on the racks and extra in boxes on the rack against the wall. I have clear thin segmented boxes that I use for lamp work beads, pearls, czech glass beads like leaves, flowers, and rondelles, pinch beads, super duos, etc. I have crystals and fire polish on separate lazy Susan's on the work surface. I just tend to put like with like in crystal clear containers so I can pick up one to three or five trays and see all my pearls, for instance. LOL!

As my parents owned a sewing machine shop with fabric and haberdashery etc, my sewing room is set up like a shop as it means everything is on display with exception of my quilting fat quarter that are in under bed boxes so they are still easily seen with or without the lid but makes them stackable. Basically, it is about accessibility. Very visual but it means I have a studio not a room. Yes I have a lot of fabric, patterns etc Yes I have project boxes just bigger and I do not mix my projects in boxes

I live in Cape Town in South Africa and I do several different types of crafting though in a very tiny space. A corner lot of my tiny 1 room apartment I do multi media art. Sewing and embroidery, crochet, scrapbiiking, beading and diy it looks like an episode of hoarders at the moment I'm planning on actually taking leave from work for a week to organise it all next week. Any ideas.p.s I don't have a lot of money or access to fancy organizers.

I am with you! I do beading, sewing, nail art, spin wool, crochet, and need storage for all those suppllies. I've got a set of shelves my husband put up for me & I'm going to store all beading stuff together, all yarn together, etc. Good luck to you! The clear organizers thing is huge! I've had to memorize what is in my "translucent" organizers.... waah.

That's a lot of different crafts in such a small space. I hope you got it set up how you wanted it. In any small space, maintaining it and keeping it set up in containers that you can stack will help you manage in a small space. Also, head up the wall with lots of shelves - it'll help give you some floor space.

any tips for those of us who don't have a dedicated craft room? I do my crafting on the dining room table and have to put everything away in a closet almost every day so that the table can be used for meals.

Hi Dee Dee, I saw that Gayle already replied & I had a lot of the same ideas. I also used to craft on my dining room table & a rolling cart really helped me. I Googled "roller craft cart" & found this if your interested (just to see what I was talking about) www.fleetfarm.com/detail/Adeptus-6-Drawer-Mobile-Storage-Cart/0000000036562?Bsearch&Bproduct%20search&gslfah&gclid=Cj0KEQiAsP-2BRCFl4Lb2NTJttEBEiQAmj2tbXBJ8WMJK20zTUA1_-GNd2wY4QJQF-G7L4qoapgp_PQaAj9t8P8HAQ Joanns always has carts too & as a fellow crafter...I'm sure I don't have to mention the coupon :) Good luck. Happy Organized Crafting!

I'm so sorry that link is so long....I had no idea it would do that. Just Google & you should find it. The one I saw actually looked like a nice piece of wooden furniture.

Just give yourself a way to easily pull out the shoe organizers and jars you want. Give them an easy way to be put away and pulled out again.

I do all of them more than just a once in a while thing.. is this ok like I'm so overwhelmed when I have my dream craft room will I have room and be able to keep up will I ever be able to succeed greatly in doing all of them. Ughhh idk I can't even put in words how I'm trying to ask this question

Lots of people play in more than one craft at a time. If that's you, then you will build a craft room with multiples zones for each craft. I once knew a serious multiple crafter who moved and I unpacked and set up her craft rooms. We used two separate bedrooms, with multiple zones in each rooms. One was all fabric based crafts, with sewing machines etc. Then there was metal working and beads in that room. The second room was paper based crafts, so scrapbooking and mixed media and card making, then polymer clay with a few others thrown in. It can be done, you just need a plan for each craft you want to be able to do. Call me when you're ready to plan!

What about yarn organization
@TheClutterFairy
@TheClutterFairy 5 жыл бұрын
I like to use stackable recycle crates with front facing lids, so the yarn stays dust free and can be categorized in whatever way you like. Here's an example or two: www.wayfair.com/storage-organization/pdp/iris-usa-inc-deep-plastic-box-iri2221.html or www.amazon.com/WTM-CBCL-24-Stackable-Hinged-24-Quart/dp/B009L9PELG/ref=asc_df_B009L9PELG/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167148561991&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1326880441311842687&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9027645&hvtargid=pla-309633186212&psc=1 Also, you can use drop-front boxes in the same way: www.wayfair.com/storage-organization/pdp/iris-usa-inc-deep-plastic-box-iri2221.html
