I’ve spent sme time over the last 2 years thinking critically about my scrapbooking and cardmaking projects, stash, budget, etc. and have made some adjustments but I never thought of “doing the math”. That is a great idea to keep inventory of product realistic. Limiting how much “inspiration” I consume is a good idea too! Jeannine

So glad the 'math' idea was a new one for you, especially since you have been thinking about your stash. I LOVE the idea of assessing your 'inspiration' too... I didn't mention this in the video but I do have some thoughts on that too. Thank you so much for sharing this, I know so many of us will find this helpful.

Great tips! I started by throwing out packaging and extra cardboard (that I was saving for mixed media projects) and from there, the process really picked up! If I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep an item, it went in a box. After 2 weeks of not wanting the item back, off it went! My young cousin who is just starting her creative journey now has lots of goodies to play with and i don't feel guilty for not using them.

That is so good! What a great way to start the year and give you the best chance of having time to create. No one wants to spend time managing supplies rather than creating with them. Thanks for popping by the channel today and taking the time to chat 🌸

After subscribing to several kits recently, I've discovered some techniques that I REALLY don't enjoy. So once the project is done, I'm donating the things I don't want to do EVER again! (Looking at you, glazes and pastes to use over stencils!)

Yes to this!! I'm the same with complicated mixed media. It's totally ok to not love every technique.

Wow that was great and very useful, im not sure I’m ready to cull, but I can do the if something comes in something has to go- I have tried to also set a goal of X amount of layouts before I can buy a new collection… Love these new types of videos Gwen, keep ‘em coming 😄

I totally understand getting rid of supplies can be hard. I think just doing the math and having a really clear idea of how many things you need can help, and yes, the one in one out rule, I bet there are some things that you don't love love love that have been kicking around for years that you could filter out. So glad you're enjoying the little switch up to the usual videos, I've loved making these and I have a bunch of other ideas I'm keen to share with you over the coming months. Don't worry though, there will still be my usual tutorials coming too 😊

Love this, it will help me to clarify in my mind. Thanks for that. I also love Dana K White, she's in my head more an more as I declutter my house, but my craft area I am dreading and get stuck. Thank you for helping me to clarify it in my head of what is practical for keeping.

Glad this was helpful... I love Dana's approach to decluttering and organising, I think our brains work in the same way so she has been ohhh so helpful to me. I have found creating to be much easier with a clear and tidy space only filled with the things I love that I can actually manage. I could rave about it all day 🤣 If you ever have any questions feel free to reach out.

These are wonderful tips. I don’t have a proper craft room set up yet. It is a work in progress. It is only a small room and the lighting is very poor so I tend to bring everything out onto the dinning table. My biggest problem is I seem to keep lots of of cuts from die cutting. On each project I do I always like to include something I have die cut. I have only being two brands of papers. I subscribe to a monthly kit as I have no local craft shop and it means everything is co ordinated so I don’t have to search for matching extras. I need to go and purchase some albums for all my work but keep putting this off because of the expensive so I have layouts lined on my work in progress craft room floor waiting to be sorted.😄❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Maree... I used to be in a room where the lighting was poor so I can relate to that, as I get older I NEED to be able to clearly see what I'm working on. Kit's are great, I've subscribed to some over the years, not for ages though. The last ones I bought were from Hip Kit Club, they are stunning but I just found the supplies to be too many for my needs. I like The Scrap Room ones as they don't give you everything, just a sample of the lines so you don't end up with too many things. Oh yes, albums, I HATE buying them too, they are expensive and I actually hate putting away my pages. Thanks for spending your creative time with me today, glad the tips were helpful. 💗

I know I'm really lucky to have a space like this BUT you can still make it work with a smaller area, you just need fewer supplies. I hope this video helps you.

It’s cheaper than designer bags and designer furniture or expensive art! I am fortunate to have a large house, but I like streamlined decor. I am going to build some custom furniture out of Ikea bones, not just for crafting, but for main cabinetry needs. I don’t think I have too much supplies. I try very hard to keep my buying under control. I make cards and don’t scrap book. I’ve used the cards I make in 3-years as a measurement for how much consumable supplies to have on hand. I keep 1-3 times this amount, depending on the category. But some things go bad over time, such as glue, so for those I don’t buy more than what I use in 1-2 years. ❤ Love your videos. I can’t understand the concept of scrap booking, but I like to watch people talk about them occasionally. Once in a while I will create a photo album with a few embellishments, but I think that is very far from a scrapbook. I have several binders where I keep useful information printed out and magazine pages cut outs, but it’s utilitarian and not decorated at all.
An unexpected life update... I DIDN'T see this coming 😱
