There is no way I can listen to this wonderful piece in one go. It is simply overwhelming in its sheer beauty and poignancy. I have to keep stopping and gather myself for each part. I first discovered this beautiful opera about 35 years ago as it featured during the UK programme Inspector Morse, Second Time Around. I loved it then, as I still do.

Stupenda interpretazione da cantante pucciniana di alto rango! Anche uno spettacolo bello sobrio e cupo in cui si staglia in tutta la sua grandezza di cantante e attrice un’interprete finissima e brava a cesellare lo strazio di una madre sepolta viva in un convento. Davvero ottimo spettacolo

I'm more of a composer person than a singer person. The real star of Suor Angelica is Puccini's orchestra, which carries all the singers through the one hour of this incomparably...angelic work. A decent Angelica is a soprano with a great Renata Tebaldi-like pianissimo capacity for that high C at 50:46. The singing here is a bit wobbly, but for us composer persons, it's not difficult to "listen through the wobbly." Also, I think the Zia Principessa role was a bit overacted. She should be cold and evil throughout her small role. She doesn't have to emphasize "...stemma!" like she does.

Il Trittico is NOT an opera, but three one-act operas are usually performed together: Il Tabarro, Sour Angelica, and Gianni Schicci. In the same way Cavaliera Rusticana and Pagliacci are often performed together as 'Cav-Pag'

You have been misinformed helas, as the opera 'il trittico' is the name given by Puccini to the 3 one-act plays, that he himself chose to connect as 1 opera. In the end Puccini gave in to requests by Ricordi, to split the opera into 3 parts, having heared the performance of 'Il Trittico' in Lucca, where he conceded that indeed the 3 plays were too long for 1 night. The Cav-Pag name that you give as an example is not a name of the 2 1-act plays performed together by either Leoncallo or Mascagni. Il Trittico is not very often performed as a whole at all. The most played opera is Gianni Schicchi, but in Europe, or more precise, Germany, Belgium, Austria and the Nteherlands the 3 1-act plays are more frequently performed in one performance
