Why are doves so cute!? He looks like a fluffy toasted marshmallow :D

😂😂 Aww ❤ this is so true and made me giggle out loud. I think they’re so cute because the dove is said to be God’s favorite animal. :)

I got him a cuttle bone. He also wasn’t getting enough vitamin C so I started to give him red berries a few times a week. His energy level is higher, so he plays more and keeps his beak down on his own by pecking his wooden perch.

I just noticed that Petey has something wrong with his beak so I wanted to ask if he's okay because it looks overgrown almost.
@allyrudolph2 жыл бұрын
He’s about 18 years old now, getting up there in age. He was refusing to eat his calcium grit when I recorded this video, and lack of calcium is usually what causes a beak to do this. Since then, I’ve been putting calcium powder in his water and his beak is back to normal.

A vet can carefully trim their beaks too. It looks extremely overgrown in the video. Very cute though!

Any pigeon or dove, if he dont use his beak to hit the floor it will overgrow so if you have a dove or a pigeon make sure he will have something to peck so his beak dont grow to much

His beak seems to crook a little due to overgrowth, make sure a vet trims it down if you ever encountered something like this again. I have a scissor beaked pigeon in my care currently and I'm quite nervous about when I'll have to trim his beak to be honest.

Yes, this was because he was refusing to eat his calcium grit at the time. I started giving him calcium powder in his water about a year ago. Problem solved a long time ago :)

How did you get them to be so tame?
@allyrudolph Жыл бұрын
I talk to them a lot, usually with a soft, high pitched tone or sometimes a goofy, spunky tone. I wave to them very often when I can see them from another room. I also say “Hi, Petey” or “Hi, Ernie” when I can. I interact with them and let them out of their cages as much as I can. And make soft, gentle eye contact a lot. I laugh when they laugh. Treat them like babies. I sometimes sing songs to all of my pets like lullabies. They love all of that. Animals are more like people than we might think.
