@@Eighty8percent It's saying his friends brother has a heroin problem, and the military may suck -but it will keep him busy chasing nameless faces and its keeping him busy - where if he is home he may relapse and fall into his addiction - and even if the military messes him up and he ends up back in his addiction, at least now he will have a safety net of helping with school, etc. I think its saying people with nothing to lose, and with little hope may be driven to the military out of necessity and not desire. I had a lot of friends with a lot of issues that enlisted at 18 because they had no idea what they were doing, and were best to have some structure and a network. This wasn't everyone who enlisted, of course, but its a lot of peoples relationship with the military. Some people turn to their friends, some run from their demons, some chase them.

You can turn around things quickly. Life is full of ups and downs. It’s how you respond to the downs that can harm you. If I could re-approach my life with my wisdom I have learned I would be an absolute boss. Unfortunately it’s about now, and what you do today.

What got me hooked was the part about "Don't tell the boys that we done spent the week inside and watched 3 seasons of The OC till Marissa fucking dies, you know sometimes I'm more like Ryan, you're a little more like Seth. You're so quick witted when we talk about what happens after death". First of all the nostalgia about the show, second of all of those binges my friend and I used to do, and those casual conversations and jokes about our deepest traumas. I can really relate to a lot of his lyrics in his songs, especially now. I definitely would have listened the shit out of him 10-13 years ago, but wouldn't really have understood him to the core like I do now. You kind of understand your traumas better the more you age.

I sit back and vibe to this all the time. Takes my mind to a simpler time with the boys. When I wasn’t in a toxic situation. We could spend hours/days doing nothing and all be having the times of our lives. One of the boys got divorced and moved across the country to rebuild his life. One of the boys became an alcoholic and can’t stay out of trouble.. Lastly.. my best friend, who is the only one I really see anymore, is out there becoming a war fighter.. I’ll see him soon as we have an annual camping trip me and all the boys used to do. Now it’s just me and him. Haha this song brings on the memories hard. Cherish your boys fellas.
