To create a v shape for turtlenecks, just wear a long necklace with an angular pendant that points downwards. It'll create the illusion. Try it!

Chi Li, I really appreciate the valuable content you’ve created on your channel. Your videos stand out from others available on the internet; they are not only informative but also presented in a way that is easy to understand. What specific styling hacks would you recommend for women who are under 5'2" and have a fuller figure? How can they use illusions in their clothing choices to create a flattering silhouette and feel more confident in their outfits? Thank you for your dedication to helping women look and feel their best!

Excellent tips, as always, Chi. I avoid round/crew necklines as much as I can; a V or other vertical neckline is so much more flattering on my short figure. When the collared, V-neck Polo tops became available again this year, I used these to replace a lot of my plain, crew-neck tees, they’re not only more flattering, they look more polished. Also, I still love matching my skirt/dress/pants, my footwear, and my socks/tights for that lengthening effect. Not just with black, either, I also wear my other basic wardrobe colors like taupe, brown or navy this way. We did this a lot in the 90s and it’s trending again to wear tights in colors other than black, I’ve seen a lot of burgundy or khaki green tights recently, in these trending autumn colors, with matching footwear. I wear dresses or skirt outfits most days, even in winter, so I need a lot of tights and tall boots for cooler weather. I know the “sandwich look” of wearing contrasting (with respect to the trousers) shoes that match the top is trendy, but it’s best on taller women. Keep up the great work, we love your channel❤
@basedgenxexpatАй бұрын
A way I do the sandwich look as a petite is to match my shoes to my hair. 🤣

I’m 74 and 5’2” and learned in my 20’s about v necks. I don’t have a round face ( but being petite I had to learn how to make myself taller and thinner even at 115 lbs) V necks make a round face look better.
@KimberlyPerrotis2 ай бұрын
Even though though I’m now slender, I have a softer, fleshier under-chin area, it’s hereditary. I find V-necks and classic pointed collars much more flattering than rounded necklines, they add some much-needed angularity there.

Your videos are very helpful! I am 5’0” and have short legs even for my height and a longer torso. I have finally embraced wider legged pants and they look so good! I guess I thought they’d make me look wider in general but they don’t. The vertical aspect of them makes me look longer and therefore less wide.

I’m not an expert like Chi, but I am a fellow petite with 50 years of styling experience. My best tip for us petites is to always wear short tops or sweaters, etc. that ideally end around the waistband, or certainly above the hipbones, and tuck in longer ones. If the legs look longer, the whole figure looks taller. It’s been a good year to buy these, many “cropped tops” are long enough on petite me to cover all my tummy skin. Unfortunately, long, low-hip to mid-thigh length top styles are trending again, but I won’t be wearing them, they make even my proportionately long legs look stumpy. We see clothes, in both designer shows and on websites, on models who are 6 feet tall and about 110 lbs., they’re just not going to look like that on the vast majority of us. The average woman in the US is a just-petite, 5’4” tall and a US size 16, which I suppose is about 170-175 lbs., based on my own experience, I’m also 5’4” (now 125 lbs., down from 175 lbs.). There’s just no way those clothes will look the same on us real women. I remember how short and frumpy I always felt when wearing those tunic/big, long shirt over leggings or skinnies when they were in style. The best thing I ever did for my style was to purge every one of those boxy long tops from my wardrobe, I immediately looked taller and slimmer.

Swimsuits - I wear modest swimdresses - everything is fully covered (and nothing is typical bathing suite tight) but I get SO MANY COMPLIMENTS because the lines look good. Not saying everyone has to do this, just saying that's what works for me! I'm still looking for a modest v-neckline in a swimsuit BUT so far I'm happy with the ones I have.
