As we walk through the narrow Siq, marvel at the iconic Treasury, and explore the ancient tombs and temples carved into the pink sandstone cliffs, you'll gain a deeper understanding of the significance and beauty of Petra. Thanks for subscribing!! 😁 Yeah exactly - I believe it’s referred to by the Hebrew name ‘Sela’ a couple times (and it was part of the route Moses took), but generally I think it just wasn’t that relevant to the people and places in the bible.

It’s difficult to summarise the history in a short video: in 19th century only local Bedouin knew about it so I said abandoned especially as it was a thriving city once 🤷🏼‍♂️ Interesting you mention the Qu’ran, I understand Petra is not mentioned by name but it may fit the description of Mecca? But I’m not an expert! Hope you enjoyed the video anyway!

Totally beautiful city I did not know it was more of the city for the dead. That’s kind of cool, but the lack of respect why humans Let their animals poop all over it And desecrate it Just makes me sick to my Stomach. This is history and there destroying it.

It’s an interesting idea, it must have been quite confronting to enter the city and immediately be reminded of death, your own impermanence and the people you once knew - maybe they just got used to it 😂 And yeah shame about the animals pooping, they won’t be laughing when Dushara’s curse catches up with them 😂
