I like to see the tree rings of petrified wood. It is a hard material and polishes up beautifully. Thanks for posting, really enjoyed the video.

@RockHunterMark3 жыл бұрын
There are usually little lines in the rock. Just like regular wood. Most of the time it is a brown color. When I get done with a load in the polisher I will pick out the best ones and put it in my collection . The rest I give away . Thanks for watching and for your comments.

I would like to have a piece like that. May have to try sum of my own. But most of my pieces r alot bigger then those.
@geraldluque96074 жыл бұрын
I did that for years with my grandkids. They would pick out a few agates each and come over every Sunday to change out the batch and see how the agates were changing after each rotation. In 5he end they would always try to leave with pocketful while holding their pants up and then telling me that they only had theirs.....

Do you use porcelain medium on all steps or just the last step? Have you ever used heavy concentrate of laundry soap and water for final step? I have and like how they look
@RockHunterMark4 жыл бұрын
No I have not. I just use the porcelain medium on the last step. thanks for the ideas, I probably won't try that because I can afford the grit and don't want to risk it.

@@RockHunterMark you can use Ivory bar soap, the old original bar soap. Just grate some with a cheese grater or a pocket knife and run them for 24 to 48 hrs. It gives them a nice barnish 👍
@RockHunterMark3 жыл бұрын
Is ivory soap more of a polish than polish grit?
@Azazelcobb3 жыл бұрын
@@RockHunterMark yes it's just an extra step to add to the shine and a little protection also. It does make a difference in my opinion. It's inexpensive and only takes another day or so. ✌️✨

If you found some petrified wood in an old cobblestone structure of some kind that had some type of mortar or something similar but also had crystals growing out of the mortar, would you try and shape the matrix they are in so as to keep them together or would you try and separate them? Thanks for the video on tumbling the petrified wood I have quite a bit and have been wondering about tumbling or slicing some on a wet saw. They really turned out nice in the tumbler! You got a new subscriber👍✌️
@RockHunterMark3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Christopher, I appreciate your comments and ideas. I would not separate the petrified wood from the cobblestone structure because it was part of the home structure.
