So tragic, Petro finally got minutes and took off his last 2 seasons before the accident. Hitting 45% from three off pull-ups in the 90s was unheard of, Petro would have been All-NBA now.

@@TheRealMindCrime one more thing what could be noticed. You see best 3 point % guys in the league and we know who they are. But each year, onky one guy's name was constantly on top 5. So they all switched spots between 1 and maybe 10 and % was probably not 47, but 43 but would exit top 5. , but only Drazen was constantly in top 5

I follow your channel for some time now and I can't tell you how glad I am that you did a video about my countryman, Drazen. In Croatia, he is still THE gold standard, not just for a basketball player, but as a sportsperson in general. His accomplishment, work ethic are legendary in Croatia and in Europe. The legacy he left there is crazy. 2 time champion of europe with Cibona, 2 silver medals in olympics, won gold medals for yugoslavia in both eurobasket and world cup. It's a shame that it seems that with his death the Croatian basketball has also died. We haven't had success with the national team since...

I was 8 when he died and still it brings a tear to my eye thinking about it. He would have been 60 in about a month, last week there was a memorial game for him in Zagreb. A lot of European and some NBA legends attended and they got together almost the whole 1992 team surprising them with a virtual rendition of Dražen saying hello to them. I think his amazing work ethic is most inspirational, he worked on his shooting tirelessly from elementary school on, waking up early, getting a few hundred shots off and then hurrying to school.

Petro! These young kids will never know the NBA has been filled with Euro players for awhile, Petro could give anyone the work he was Ginobili before Ginobili. Kukoc, Petro, Sabonis (Arvydis), HedoTurkolu, Peja Stoakovish, more im sure im forgetting but they all were hoopers and had serious game. Sad Petro never got longer opportunity, but he definitely left a lasting impression!

You must consider that, at those times, the average European basketball game ended with scores in the 60s, 70s or 80s. Games lasted just 40 minutes and the pace was really slow. 30 points in that context is like 50 in today's NBA.

He was from my country of Croatia and I followed him from my young age Drazen was a Kobe like player. Fearless. Two hours training before others and leaving hours after all are gone. He loved basketball to death He died to young. If he lived, I guarantee you a Michael Jordan / Kobe Bryant level of play. He feared noone Drazen was an assassin and Portland treated him like sh*t RIP Drazen

Amazing the amount of talent that comes out of the former Yugoslavia. I really wish for peace there, more for the sake of the people, but would be so much more competitive if Yugoslavia fielded teams 1992 and on. Could you imagine the Olympic team this year with Luka and Joker, plus all the role players and lesser known stars.

If you do research Drazen a bit more, you' ll find out that his tragic car accident that took his life happened days after he signed a contract with the euroleague team Panathinaikos, the same team that signed Dominique a couple of years after. You almost did back to back videos which I can actually relate to, being Greek and a Panathinaikos fan. By the way, i just started watching the video, so there is possibility thay my comment above might add nothing to the conversation.

The winner of a record six European player of the year awards Sabonis senior is widely considered one of the greatest players that continent has ever produced. He was so dominant Portland used a first round draft pick on him in 1986 despite knowing he was unlikely to come over due to the policies of the communist government as well as the ban on NBA players representing their country at the Olympics . For those of us my age and above, remembering Arvydas because of Domantas would be like remembering Michael Jordan because of Marcus! 😀
