My F900R is at around 1000 miles by now. I also had startup and quickshifter issue. My brother owns S1000R and I just thought the quickshifter was better on it, right until the 600 mile service on F900R. I didn't even complain to them but they must've adjusted something with the quickshifter since it felt almost on par with s1000. It wasn't jerky anymore. It rarely still jerks from first to second but it's not even an issue at this point. 600 mile service definitely helped it A LOT

Nothing changed for me after 1st service... Unless you asked them to check on the QS, they wont do anything... did you ask them to fiddle with it?

@@PetroHead I did not, but they definitely did some "adjustment" because it felt really smooth right after the service

Never had a coldstart issue in the 1200 km I've had it so far. ( I only put premium 91+ gas ) Going from 1st to 2nd, having to go through neutral you'll never be as smooth as the other gear. So that's expected. Also, the quick shifter I found works a lot smoother when reving up. 5k rpm more.

I have about 700 miles on my F900R, had it for 3 weeks so far. Going in for its first service next week. I absolutely love it. I have had the cold start issue as well, but it only happens a minority of the time. I have the same quickshifter issue.

Hey I own a F900R Sport and I have 3000km (1860mi) on the clock. In these 3000km I never experienced any cold start issues. Hopefully you can get it fixed with a software update at the dealership :) Btw I love the bike sofar, plenty of power, a lot of comfort too and that TFT display is just amazing.
@PetroHead4 жыл бұрын
Its weird.. some have the issue, some don't but on the forums, if you post a cold start post, you get tons of common replies.. This makes it hard to get fixed.. how to replicate it as I've addressed in my review video. 🤷

My negative points were exactly the same of yours, at the moment 4400km no cold start problems, about the quickshifter and gear changes its a complete diferent prob, I hope bmw solves this, gear change even engaging clutch aren't smooth at all, using quickshifter it's also noisy and clunky...hope they fix this soon, I got a full extras bike with all the bells and wistlers,its not a cheep bike.

Firing on the second push of the button is not a cold start "issue". It's a "thank goodness carburetors are no longer a thing" issue.

the quick shifter is designed for spirited riding, not on the start of the ride u just have to live with it using the clutch on the 1st and 2nd gear. thus, by the way, the f900r sport cost here is around $19,000.
@PetroHead4 жыл бұрын
Maybe for earlier generations that’s true but I’ve ridden about 25 bikes in less than 12 months, most modern bikes shift smoothly from 20mph and low in the rpm range. This is simply sub par quality or a software issue.. who knows 🤷♂️

Yamaha R6 also had a cold start issue in 2017 when it was redesigned but in 2018 they fixed it. The same will happen with F900R/XR I think.. I have a feeling they know about these things and release bikes anyway.. it’s lousy tbh and they should respect customers more by releasing a final product free of defects.

465 miles on mine. Cold start issue when brand new (5 miles until 250 miles) but seems to be happening less and less as miles go on. Does your bike not start at all or does it start on 2nd attempt? If mine fails first punch of the button, it always starts 2nd attempt no issue. I didn't go with the quick shifter option pkg so I can't help out there. As always, thanks for the great content!

@@PetroHead you could always buy a different quick shifter if it's that bad. I know it's not ideal when you spent that money on a new bike but it sounds like it's just designed that way so you will have to live with it.

Not sure it took 15 mins for you to starting talking about the issues 🙄 anyway, you shouldn’t be using the quick shifter to go from 1st to 2nd gear it’s meant for knocking up quickly from 3rd, but you know that right 🤨
@PetroHead3 жыл бұрын
Wrong. QS is just that.. to quickly shift. No issues with my Striple in 11 months regardless of RPM or gear. It’s the 2 cyl engines with high torque that’s the issue. Even BMW guys at the dealership admitted. The 890 duke suffers from the same issue which I addressed in my review.
@Milen4u4 жыл бұрын
The bike has the cold start issue and it has been consistent with it right from the start. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJaln3-Jrqh1fdk I left it at the dealership once for a week and a second time on 28.9. Now it's 07.10 and they can't fix it. The support in Germany is not giving a solution only some superficial stuff and the answer is "we know about the problem". The mechanics are at a desperate trial and error/experimenting stage (swapping temp. sensor to see if it makes any difference) was the last thing. The issue is obvious to everyone and we already discussed it with the dealership - tunings for Euro 5 emissions which doesn't function in the real world. So BMW doesn't want to fix it because that would mean violating the homologation = paying fines. I am going to return the motorcycle and ask my money back.
