Had the same experience years ago with a Merc, and since then (although they repaired it) never had a car cleaned on a service. Its usually a quick power wash anyway and that is where the issue came as they took a chunk out of the bonnet. and it also looked as though they had dropped the shammy and the grit was evident in the scratches all over. I guess they have to be so quick washing them so no respect given to the product.

I feel much the same about the whole JCW badging without the JCW reality. Anyone can slap whatever they want on their car, but it doesn't make it the thing they wish. Hi Pete concerning the JCW argument, I understand where you're coming from I bought a Cooper S just before first lockdown it was my first Mini so not a connoisseur, I loved the styling kit not knowing it was JCW until I sat in it and saw the badge on the steering wheel. I was disappointed at first because I didn't want it to look like it's trying to be something it's not in the same way as teenagers used to make standard escorts look like an XR3i. When I realised it was more about styling options I accepted it, I love the JCW spoiler and that's the only extra on the exterior the interior is standard Cooper S but it has the JCW steering wheel which looks great but I would prefer if it didn't have JCW badge on it, at least there's no badging on the exterior. I did find your comments interesting especially knowing that you have put rally mud flaps on a car that as far as I am aware they do not rally😉

Hi, Having had 5 MINIs including two JCWs (F56 and F54) I totally agree with your sentiments around devaluing the JCW brand. The other issue which I have to bite my tongue around when on the MINI forums is people who buy their MINI then attempt to make huge modifications to make them a Cooper S or JCW. Just take you time and buy the MINI with the options already on instead of I wish it had this or that option. Basically, buy the right MINI (or any car) in the first instance, there is enough choice out there and by following this route the end cost is usually cheaper. Just my two penny worth, thank you for the video update, appreciated

Good luck with the service pack, had a negative experience with mine. First, they only do what the car says - one service, I was literally driving home and the service light came on for the next item. I thought they'd forgotten to reset, but no, it was another service the next week. They also found 'extras' like brake fluid that got added to the bill. The final straw was missing the service window during lockdown and having to pay for the last service on the pack anyway; apparently I should have phoned in when it was due, even though the car sat for the best part of six months unused. Wouldn't buy it again.

Dutton amphibious cars in Littlehampton. Now that would be a different road (or river) test for you. 😁 Good to see my neck of the woods and Chandlers' service bay.

Lovely channel! As an Italian Mini fan, apart from the technical reviews, I do really appreciate your accent. Great job mate! The Clubman all4 is the one I've shortlisted. Just wondering whether the jcw 178hp handles as a MINI
@PetrolPed2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alex. The Clubman certainly has that Mini feel 👍

Interesting as always Peter. My SL is due for its annual service this week but I have it done in Truro which is a problem at present...the actual mileage is very low this year so I am not worried about passing it but I think it will be a day trip after the 29th!...360 miles! Re the Service Loan car...call it the Mini Cooper Sport Plus maybe?? The green car was a Dutton Surf which is a Suzuki Jimney after attack by a plastic body shell...very rare though..two have crossed the Channel but seeing one driving around is mighty rare! Service plans...today was a visit to the opticians...new glasses..£772!!!.....BUT by signing up to £8 per month that dropped to £467 with free eye tests, free repairs and 40% off everything in future...it sounds like a reasonable deal!! Stay safe...I think a Lucas spot lamp on the roof would look good for April 1st!! 😀😀😀😀😎😎😎Richard.

Your service plan might seem cheap, but I had an R55 Clubman and the plan for that was £150 for 5 years servicing (though my plan excluded brake fluid changes).

I’m so excited to see a review on a countrymen as my wife and I agree if we ever get a mini the country men would be the one for us. If we get one we would have to join flap gate lol.

I have been lucky to own a number of MINIs. I absolutely love my MINI Countryman Cooper S, coming from two Clubmans (Cooper S and JCW) they are different. I would have stayed with the Clubman but I found the barn doors a pain in the arse, a hatch would be better for this model. Try both models out for size before committing.

I agree, I have a JCW hatch, I love the performance and the fact it is an actual JCW, it should be called a works line, similar to ST line for Ford

Nailed it on the JCW pack stuff. Really annoyed me when they brought it out after I bought my JCW. Bits also like the red roof and mirrors were supposedly only for JCWs but then they started letting you option them on anything. It all takes away from the genuine JCWs. Hopefully they don't do the same with GP parts (apart from the diff!).

Got a JCW 2018 Convertible, , completely agree the JCW brand denigration , its just wrong! Other car 30.s F Type .... prefer the Mini... to drive anyway . Big Jaguar fan, but the Mini, well, what can I say! Had a XF 3.o s Portfolio 2011, prior to F Type. Looking at chopping in both, to get a Clubman JCW (4WD), as the only car ....Thoughts?

Totally true about the JCW point. I think Works would have been totally acceptable and less confusing for owners.

I have a ‘19 Clubman S with the JCW styling package and while it is a nice place to sit inside with the big bucket seats and the red stitched leather wheel, I do have to agree with you that it just doesn’t feel right knowing that it isn’t a JCW 😅

Agree with the JCW rant. I felt similar as an N owner when Hyundai rebranded their SR as N-Line. It's NOT an N!!!

Hope everyone of your viewers is keeping well. I must admit that I don’t bother with main dealer servicing now that my warranty has come to an end. Save a fortune on servicing costs. Hope you and Mrs Petrol Ped are keeping safe & well. How is one of the Pups now? I know you said that one was having issues and went for a scan. Hope all is well.

Totally agree re what you said re JCW that trim level should be reserved for the actual model. I have a Cooper S which is still under warranty and curious if the modifications you spoke off caused you any problems in that regard ?

When you purchase a new Mini in Canada, it includes a 3 year maintenance plan at no charge. Obviously it is built into the price.

Have you had issues with the rear doors sticking. I have this issue on my jcw and previous Cooper s, mini has never managed to address it.
