I appreciate you including the grandmaster games for real examples of the positional ideas! Thanks for all the great work.

Thank you very much also for that drawish variation :), every type of knowledge is always a thing somebody wants to obtain, if White plays 5.Qe2 i might think that he wishes to draw :)

In the Bg5 variation doesn't White castle Kingside and also instead of c6 by Black the move h6 Was recommended in a recent study and then playing g5 to kick the White Bishop off the h4 square if he goes there and playing Bd8 for Nb5 and later playing Be6 Bf6 for a strong attack towards Whites queensids. Can u check on that line and confirm on it. Anyways, Thanks a lot for the videos and hope u continue making videos... Ps:Could u kindly make a video on the French Two Knights Variation?

As far as I can see, Nc3 is more promising than the "only move" d3. It neutralizes Nf6 because d4 gives space and development advantage, Nxc3 dxc3 creates a good imbalance, giving a 'hook' for the knight on d4 and opening lines.

Greetings! Thank you for such a detailed review! This might be a really newbie question, but why not castle instead of c6 on 14:48?
@miguelmorais5013 жыл бұрын
The idea is to avoid Nb5 but you can meet that with Na6 so it’s not actually bad to castle!

And a new variation has been discovered when White plays 6.Bg5 Black can play 6...Nbd7.Can u kindly check on this? Thanks

Hi Menaka. Consider that on the first move by White, there are 20 possible moves. On the first move by Black, there are an additional 20 possible moves. That means that on the first move alone (by White and by Black) there is a total of 20x20=400 possible variations already! This means that it is no use to look into every possible variation, and you cannot expect anyone to go over them (which is also what makes Chess endlessly interesting). Now, a way to go about new variations is to take the fact that a move is not included in the main variation as a trigger. Why isn't it included? For example, in the variation you mention you should ask: what happens after Nbd7? Well, for one, it blocks the white-squared Bishop on c8. This means that the scheme of development for White is much easier than for Black. This is why Black prefers another move (Qxe2+). So: take a new variation that you have spotted as an oppurtunity to study the position for yourself. It is no use waiting for another video on every possible move. Good luck in your chess development!

Yes you are correct.. But this move Nbd7 is quite common in recent times and the computer too shows an equal position when further moves are played.. I'm not asking for another video.. Just asked someone to clarify this as I've seen grandmasters play this line recently... Thx

@@menakadias4287 Aha! Okay, fair enough. I hope someone can help you further. I'm certainly not a Grandmaster, and I wanted to point out that the question "why not THAT move" is a nice starting point for private study.

Yes I did go through this move and I find it quite suitable for me...been playing petrovs defense as one of my main responses to e4 since Grade 5 and now I'm grade 10

@@menakadias4287 Okay! Keep at it :) I've played the Petrov (or Russian Defence as it is called in my country, the Netherlands) in my youth as well, but have reverted to the Pirc as my weapon of choice. The Petrov is certainly quite playable (perhaps more so than the Pirc). The reason I opted out is because of the symmetrical positions (which hardly ever arise in the Pirc).
