Pets are being returned to Phoenix-area shelters at alarming rates

Phoenix-area shelters are seeing more people giving up their pets as rescues are reaching their limits to help.

The housing market is crippling so many people doesnt justify people treating animals like garbage. People are choosing between themselves and their pets...

The thing I've heard a lot of people tell me is that they're working so much now, they don't have time for their dogs, and it isn't fair to them. This is happening to Dogs, not cats. Cats are more independent. Everyone is over worked and under paid, and it's only getting worse.

Breeders are not the issue. It’s individuals breeding dog breeds/ dog breed crosses that people don’t want or can’t handle. I used to volunteer at an animal shelter and the dogs are overwhelmingly pit bulls, bully breeds, bully mixed, etc. you don’t see whippets, golden retrievers, frenchies, Dalmatians, etc. being dumped or in the shelters.

@WindRainDogs yes you do. It's usually the mom after years of being bred. There is no reason to breed more dogs when the shelter is full. People that want an inbred dog because they think it's fancy are disgusting. The people that breed dogs for money are also disgusting. They are not new toys or a new purse they are living creatures that have a right to their own body.

All these people returning their animals is because they just want to have them while they're puppies when they're grown they don't give a damn about them. Go get another puppy
