It doesn't look legit because if you've played PS1 games as long as I, you'd know PS1 doesn't have a Z-buffer which prevents polygons and textures from being wobbly or distorted. This "game" looks like it has z-buffer. Go play any PS1 game like Silent Hill, Tomb Raider, Spyro and you'd know what I'm talking about. Regardless, the product is impressive but could have been perfect had he realized this mistake.

This is always the most puzzling episode to me, from how Paul finds the house, the tire, the drawing he made and the steps he knew how to follow (as if he was following a walkthrough of the game or something), to the demo looking like actual, direct player input, rather than just a blind recording of a previous input, which only starts to happen in the following episodes. To top it all off, Paul was playing two versions of the game at the same time, and he was completely unaware of it. Great.

Well, at least we got an answer to those demos looking like direct gameplay. They were originally, but the video recordings were lost (not the audio, only the video), so Paul had to use the demo recordings when he found them, and put the audio playing over them. Still don't know why he had to pass up on the first Ask? box, or why the tire one had an extra full circle in the first set of clockwise circles. I can at least assume that, once he figured out where the Windmill was in real life, and compared it to the game map, he managed to find these specific locations, so maybe that's what his drawing is. I still don't know why he couldn't go towards the house directly, though. Nor what all the spinning is. Maybe the tire is the location where a car accident happened? Maybe Lina's?

I don't think the series ever says what he might have found in this case, but it doesn't say a lot of things. What I would expect is that the route he's tracing would map onto some other area in the game, but I don't remember anyone ever identifying a match like that.

So we know that Paul originally made this gameplay for his friend. Something made him give the channel up, leaving it to the owner(s) that it belongs to now. We may not get to know who or what has the channel now, but in this video it tells us about a mysterious girl that went missing. It also talks about Paul knowing Rainer, claiming that he "saw him at a birthday party once". Also, in the description, it explains that "he continued to record at our strong suggestion" and that "he had issues with the arrangement, but they have finally been settled". This means that Paul is most likely still in contact with these owners. The "issues" mentioned could be something about recording the game. This could also mean that Paul could be forced to record for the owners. Notice how he's talking less then when he first started posting them. For some reason, I want to believe that the owners of the channel now are the creators of the game, though I don't have evidence for this. I will say that the theory about this game and the Candice Newmaker case is most likely correct, with a lot of evidence to back it up, but I also feel like that isn't the only case connected to this game. I don't know what I'm talking about at this point, and you probably don't either, so I will leave it at that. Thank you for reading my crappy theories.

He talks less and is even less cheery than when he started, when he does talk it almost comes off as robotic; and he didn't capitalize the first later of his question, he's never done that before. Also refers to ‘himself’ as ‘we’ in both the video and the description… I'm afraid of the implications of that. I think this trouble of the ownership has being in the table since the video in which the ‘censorship’ first started, but who could he've given the channel to and why? Also, there's still the way he doesn't talk when a Demo is going on, and the way he says the same thing that when the demo started just after it ended, with the change that he kept talking and didn't seem to remember a thing about it, having just a faint deja vu. The cube in the bathroom is not indicative that the bathroom is related to something in the Gift Plane, but something nearby. Look at the layout of the house. Then look at the layout of Wavey and Randice's room. (That's where the symbol is from.) The house was frozen in time at three different times: December 25, June 5, and a third we've not seen yet. The all-green calendar days start on June 5. June 5 is the day Marvin "captured" Care, and also the day Paul did the same. I suspect that long period of time might be when Care was missing from the house. Of the two calendars, the second is a leap year. If we continue to assume this game was made in 1997, the last previous calendar to have that layout was 1972. The next was 2000. This latter does seem more likely, since the game was gifted (by Rainer) for Christmas "1997 and 2000". The first calendar layout matches 1997. This seems pretty important. Care A looks a bit... cold, wouldn't you say?

When navigating the calendar, the button prompts point left and right respectively. However, on a PS1 controller, every button on the D-pad had the flat side pointed out, so the button prompts on the calendar point the opposite way to how they would actually appear on a controller. The dates mentioned, 5th of June and 10th of November, appear as 5/6 and 10/11 numerically, where date/month is consecutive. 25th of December on a Thursday (green calendar) was most recently 2014, and on a Sunday (grey calendar) was 2016. 2016 is a leap year. The grey calendar appears 2 years after, so the year between (2015) has been missed. The "Demo" sign flashes 32 times, and when the clock comes in it is initially synced to flicker every 2 seconds, however it becomes out of sync soon after. It comes back with the clock after and flashes 17 times, varying its synchronisation with the clock, before the camera goes through the wall and returns to Petscop (the character). The sign goes to the bottom of the screen and flickers regularly. The button prompts after do not directly correspond to individual letters, but the "Pall" is either a misspelling of "pal" or "Paul." This writing requires a controller in the P2 socket. The only PS1 game that required this for progression, unless I'm mistaken, was 1998's Metal Gear Solid. The camera angle and position inside the brick building is most similar to that of 1993's Doom, but it has a complete lack of HUD and can be obstructed by objects. The locker turning attempts "2" and nothing else, with a lot of meticulous turning, and the green icon moves with the rotation. When returning to the house, the jingle heard before repeats itself, with a cut after the first 3 notes to start again, as heard prior. However, when first heard, the camera was zooming in, whereas this time it is zooming out. When returning in the bathroom, there is no slope up to the bath. Paul has been silent since the reset to the title screen, but now speaks again. The first thing he says is "what the hell?" with the "what the" being fairly quiet, so you only hear the "hell". Similarly, when talking to the other character with button prompts, this was the first thing he said, as a typo of "Hello" When leaving the bathroom, the 2016 grey calendar is gone, while the 2014 green one remains. The 2016 one could be missing due to a 4-year shift, where a calendar identical to 2016 would not be 2 years after the green one. When checking the calendar, it opens on June, with Thursday the 5th being animated the same as December 2016 previously. It is still for the same year. When entering the next room, the clock indicates 10 past 6, whereas on the demo title screen it indicated 3 o'clock. When returning to that room, the clock indicates that 4 minutes have passed. The big hand then moves a tiny bit between the door closing and Paul's reaction. Care's pulsing increases and becomes out of sync with the "bing" sound, before the box then crashes through the window. When everything resets, it is the same as it was except for the clock, which now indicates 2 minutes since re-entering the room. 1996 is mentioned in Care A's notes. This is not a year applicable to either of the calendars in the house. After checking the bathroom, the scene returns to the School, where the notes said Care B would be. When playing the music, the first 3 notes repeat, and resemble the melody played in the house when zooming in/out of the TV if it were played backwards. The notes change to red as the tonality becomes minor. The last word written is "Pall." These are some things I noticed, please tell me if I missed anything.

If you lose to Psycho Mantis enough times, Colonel will wonder if your second controller port is broken, and will tell you an alternate strategy. Shoot the statues during the fight and it'll stun Psycho Mantis, allowing you to attack him without the second controller port.

Paul's talking on a phone to someone, which is why the things he says don't entirely make sense. The mumbling is probably the person on the other end of the call (which, going by the description, is probably the friend Paul started making these videos for).

Here's my take on this: This game is about a series of children who got kidnapped, abused and only found many months/years later. A = pre-kidnapped state, B/NLM (nobody loves me) = state after being kidnapped. Michael was a victim and his brother Rainer maybe as well. Rainer made this game. In his message in this episode he seems to protest that the people looking for Michael failed him because they were looking for 'Michael A', i.e. excepting him to be the kid he'd been before his ordeal but in reality Michael felt NLM and didn't want to be found (maybe he committed suicide as a result or rather than be found?) The kidnapper seems to be Marvin, who's associated with the school (the principal?). I'm not sure where Paul fits in this but from his cutscenes with Marvin here, it seems he may have been an accomplice or maybe even a victim. I'm not sure if Paul is an unreliable narrator or if he sincerely doesn't remember (he doesn't remember Care, barely remembers Rainer). But it seems that Rainer is angry at Paul too from his message in this ep.

Very nice work. The idea of someone being traumatized and transforming from "Version A" (normal, pleasant, cheery person) to "Version B" or "Version NLM [Nobody Loves Me]" ('damaged', depressed, unhappy, antisocial person) is very tragic and accurate to how real people often experience trauma. A person may not want to be found again by his or her friends, because they know that the original happy "Care A" or "Michael A" is gone forever, leaving only the sullen "____ B" or the completely broken "____ NLM". Very sad stuff, but very well-communicated. Excellent project.
