Our cat Dusty picked my sister as his favorite person, and every afternoon at about 3:00 he would appear from his napping place at look for her to come home from school at the front window.

Before I lost my dog Kiki she knew about 30 word very smart, very sweet she was a shih tzu and I didn't use treats. I miss her

When I was a toddler, the family dog was a shih tzu. My family never really trained her but she knows what they want. Every morning my mom would say, where’s your sister? Go wake up your sister? And the shih tzu would go to my bed and nudge me with her nose to wake me up. I was always told that shih tzus are a really smart breed. People probably think they’re stupid because they have a short face

No they are not stupid. Mine lived to be 17 and that was years ago. I still miss her. But she was so smart.

I taught my Shih Tzu how to track.. he got his TD title on his first try.. they are not a stupid dog.

I would love to have a raccoon for a pet. They are so cool. But I would definitely do some research on how to properly care for it.

Melanie might be a smart raccoon, but her "mom" seems a little crazy. Buying over 1,000 toys for a raccoon seems extravagant and excessive to me. I loved seeing Cooper the Shih Tzu doing the "tongue trick!"

I don't think she's crazy. Maybe she can't have children, and the raccoon is her "child". I know plenty of people who have human children so much more spoiled but don't get the attention from their parents that Melanie gets from her owner.

I’d gladly take a cute dog or raccoon over the horrors of pregnancy and raising a whole human being who may or may not, even of no fault of your own, become a serial rapist, animal abuser, sadist/murderer, or other sick individual. I couldn’t bare being responsible for bringing a monster into existence. More people should think twice before creating other human beings just because it’s the popular thing to do.

Yeah I’m not a raccoon fan. She also has hands whereas dogs have paws! She was smart, but raccoons are smart. I mean they learn how to get garbage out of bins and make a mess😜 I enjoyed the show though ❤

I would have given up on my claim as soon as my racoon jumped out of the window. Only because and animal is more able in one thing it doesn't meet they are smarter all the way. Different species, different intelligence.

Border collies doing their real job of herding shows an intelligence far beyond retreating items by name. They do problem solving to an extant beyond many humans. They react to commands from long distances. It really is amazing to watch them work. It’s funny that science is just now is taking up abilities that pet owners have known since they were domesticated.

Much as I love dogs, I find this excessive practice of wanting to prove they are equal to humans, pathetic, irrespective of these people with their degrees. And dressing them is showing deepseated phycological problems in the humans. I feel sorry for the humans. Buying over a thousand gifts for a racoon is really sick, I'm sorry. I think her owner has more than one screw loose and short of few nuts and bolts.

In intelligence, dogs are not equal to adult humans, but they ARE equal to kids 4-7 years of age. It’s good that people prove that, because believe it or not, many people think animals are walking robots or something to that extent. I’m not sure what these people think since I don’t possess these people’s sick heads void of empathy towards our little brothers and sisters.
