Mine don't have external valve tubes. Or a front shroud. I did leave the handle on once too ! I shut it down, lightly greased the shaft. Nice engine

When I saw the starting handle still on the machine after it started I was very worried about your safety...and that of the shed you were in. Glad you put the cooling air shroud back on...... I restored an AVA2 and coupled it to a Lister 3.5kw generator head. I sold it about 5 years ago... Do you still have this engine?

hi yes I am aware of that and was going to take the starter crank off but had to find to lower down to take it off. the engine was a good old one and was sold to Gamle teknisk forening ( Trøgstad)) ) which bought my engine.

So with these engines, having a shaft that goes right through, can you fit the gearbox on the starting handle end and start it from the other end of the shaft, if you wanted to mount it on backwards because of the direction of the gearbox? or are they not designed to be able to do that?

You start where you want .Both front and back .. but I've moved hitch shaft up going there then is easier to start . it will try to move hitch axle rear , unscrew the 4 nuts inside.

Hi, Looks and sounds great, just purchased one looks the same but doesn't have the Petter name on the rocker covers, how do you tell if its series 1 or 2 ? cheers

Hey you yeah hmm've been thinking about this if it is Series 1 or Series 2? but I can figure this out if I get it .. must ask a guy in England who worked with petter engines.
