Just turned 72. Age is what you make of it. Started skydiving and downhill skiing in my 40s. Finally learned to skateboard (thanks to my grandsons) in my 50s. In my early 60s I went to Africa for the first time (by myself) and went multiple times, living in a rasta fishing village and learning to drum. Now in my 70s, I've discovered an amazing Chinese rocker who only performs in China (Hua Chenyu) and have booked hotels in China for his annual Mars Concert. Law of attraction....believe that you're still young and can do whatever you want and that's how you can live your life! PS Started working again full time at 71.

According to my parents, my great grandmother had one of the pettiest moments I've ever heard: She lived in NYC with her husband and two of her adult children were staying with her for the holidays. My great grandfather still worked and there was a snowstorm, so my great grandmother and the two adults dug out a spot for him to park in when he got home. Shortly afterwards, a man takes said spot from them. They try to explain the situation but he rudely ignores them and says something like I don't give a crap. As soon as he is in, my great grandmother simply says, "Get the shovel". With her at the lead, she and her kids dug the neighbor's car back in with all the snow they dug out. They made sure the car was buried deep in the snow. She then went inside, got some water, and poured it all over the car. When she was done, she left it to freeze overnight, creating a nice, thick ice/snow barrier around the car. The next day, the neighbor goes to leave and sees his car covered in ice and snow. My great grandmother was there watching and waving to him from inside her apartment, a cup of hot coffee in her hands. Apparently, it took hours for him to figure out how to free his car.

I think maybe the story has changed over the years of being told, because pouring water on the situation would take days to undo. Unless he got it towed to a heated garage, it could take until Spring! She should have poured the water first to seal th doors, then end with a nice misting. That would take till Summer! Hope hubby was proud of her! She Is a Great grandma!

This is one of my favorite stories of my grandma. It was a few days before she passed away, and she had dementia so she really didn't know who we were. My dad was sitting next to her bed, holding her hand, and he asked her, "mom, do you know who I am?" She just turns her head, opens one eye and goes, "yeah, you're a pain in the ass" then goes back to sleep. We all started laughing so hard, the room went from sad and somber to lively with that one comment. She didn't say much else after that, and passed away a few days later. Famous last words granny!

My grandmother was 89 when she died. The morning before, she dug up all the dandelions in her yard and bagged them for the trash. I spoke to her that evening and she'd fixed a good dinner and the neighbor had brought her strawberry shortcake. She sat in her chair and watched TV and peacefully passed away. She still cleaned out her own gutters and sewed and quilted. She was awesome. My mother is now 89 and while she's living in assisted living she's quite sharp.

my ex husband's grandmother was also like this up until she had gotten bit by a brown recluse. his sister says that wasn't what changed things, but it was. she had healed but it had done enough damage that she had to have her foot amputated because she's diabetic and they don't do well with injuries, especially later in life. but up until that moment, she was constantly on the move. cooking, cleaning, gardening, taking care of her many grandbabies and great grandbabies. everyone would tell her to slow down or take a break and she'd always tell them "i'll rest when i'm gone."

She used to ride motorcycles just a few years back though that's too dangerous now with memory loss. She would make me and my siblings hand made quilted pillows, she let us use the laundry shoot to play with by tossing objects through it and racing to get to it in the basement. I love that rule breaking Grandma! I got a lump in my throat because of how much she reminds me of my aunt, my mom's sister, who loved to annoy my rather propper mom by doing and saying whatever the hell she wanted. She outlived 4 husbands. Mom said she just wore them out. My aunt was named "Earline", but everyone called her "Erkie". I was in my 20s when one of my boyfriends met her and just fell in love with her funny antics and outrageous flirting. He heard me call her "Aunt Erkie", and he started laughing. He said, "That nickname is PERFECT! How long has your family been calling her Anarchy?" Then it was our time to laugh. My brother and I had been saying "Aunt Erkie" with a Southern drawl since we were toddlers, but until that moment didn't realize that, indeed, we were saying "Anarchy"!

Reflecting on the story, as my grandma told it, I'm pretty sure she made a lifetime commitment out of sheer pettiness. See, she was dating this guy who had to go down to Texas for some trip or something and he didn't take her with him, which she was peeved about. So her friend invited her to a double date w/ like Bob and James or w/e. They went dancing or something one weekend and my grandma was paired up w/ Bob while her friends was paired up w/ James. They had a good time, so her friend invited her out w/ the same guys the next weekend--but her friend and Bob got sick and couldn't go. So my grandma just went out with this James guy. James then did the most 1940's thing and proposed to my grandma on their second (technically kind of their first) date. AND HE DIDN'T EVEN GET HER NAME RIGHT. He tried SO HARD to see what her ID bracelet said, but STILL got it wrong and proposed to her w/ the wrong name. But she was still pissed at her boyfriend, so grandma was like, "lol sure." James was leaving for California the next day and she knew she'd never see him again so whatever. BUT NAH BITCH. James came back two weeks later w/ his car to drive her down to California to meet his parents. And my grandma was just like..."lol sure." SHE NEVER EVEN BROKE UP W/ HER BOYFRIEND SHE JUST GOT ENGAGED TO THIS RANDOM FUCKING DUDE WHILE HER BF WAS OUT OF TOWN B/C SHE WAS MAD HE DIDN'T TAKE HER WITH HIM???? SHE NEVER ELABORATED ON THIS POINT I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT HIS NAME WAS Anyway, that's the story of how my grandparents met. this put a huge smile on my face. my mother was a very cruel woman when I was growing up but when I had kids it turned her into the nicest old woman alive. she would go outside (and even some inside) with the kids and have water fights, they would go for long drives and my kids would come home with piles of toys and clothing, feed them when ever and whatever they wanted, pranks and more candy than any 10 kids should have and so much more. it wasn't until my mother became a grandmother that she became fun and was smiling all the time. she has passed now and the only thing I miss about her is how she treated my kids.

Sometimes I’ve come to notice that parents sometimes end up regretting how they treated their own children. And they end up feeling they should make up for it with their grandchildren. My mom said she felt like she got a do over when she had grand babies. Which is kinda messed up, but as a parent of grown children, I do get it. I guess we sharing grandma stories. My grandma died in '99 when I was 13. She lived out of state but would drive down every summer to watch me while my parents worked. We would go to Pizza Hut once a week and order a pizza and she'd have a pitcher of beer. We went to the local mall every Wednesday to go toys and clothes shopping for me. She stayed in my bedroom when she stayed with us and I slept on the couch. On the Wednesday before school starting the next week that year, I slept in, and was going to wake her so we could go to the mall. I found her on my bedroom floor surrounded by my dogs. She had a string of heart attacks and quietly died that morning. That was a very long time ago. I lost both my parents only a few short years later, and have lost practically all my other family members in the decades after. Most of my memories of everyone have faded. I really don't remember what anyone sounded like, outside of my grandma's laugh. I think she's the person I have the strongest love for that's ever been a part of my life. That was nice to share.

Im 42 now lost my grandpa at 18 and though i remember many more conversations with him whenever i think of him its his half of that fight and him *sneaking* us neopolitan ice cream and saying dont tell nonna and nonna calling him a pain in the ass when he brought back the dirty bowls just as she finished cleaning up from dinner lol. I was a full-time caretaker for my grandmother who had cancer. She died at the age of 90. Of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren I was her least favorite one. We're talking physical, verbal and psychological abuse. But as a child I promised her to take care of her when she's older and that I wouldn't let it happen that she has to live in a nursing home. When the time came many years later none of her relatives wanted to take her. I left my day job, lived with her and took care of her 24/7. It was a hard time. But I'm glad that she learned that even I wasn't what she wanted me to be other than her favorite kids I cared. I stand by my word. And I would do it again because I know how afraid she was that some day strangers would be treating her like they do with other elderly people. I promised the same to my father. But I would never care for my so called mother.

Oh my gosh, the clip with the grandma crawling made me laugh so hard because I can so relate to it. If something falls to the floor, I have to ask my self if it is really worth bending over for it. Or, heaven forbid, I have to actually get down on the floor. If I do have to get down on the floor I have to roll over and get on all four and slowly try to navigate toward the couch to get up. Sometimes my husband and I laugh so hard at ourselves and each other that we have tears running down our cheeks 🤣🤣🤣

I got me one of those grabby-stick things to pick stuff up and it has changed my life! If I get a fit of the giggles on the floor, I'm not getting back up. I used to snowshoe and once I bent down to pick up a glove, fell into the soft powder, and got the giggles trying to get up. My friend left me and said they'd be back in the spring to get me! 🤣

I can so relate to this! 😂 I once fell in deep snow while out walking our fence line. Just a chubby grandma with bad knees, floundering on my back laughing at the absurdity, trying to get turned over, not wanting to grab for the fence behind me (figured with my luck I'd grab the lower hot wire). Only one to help me was my big old herd guard. The old dog pulled me over to my side so I could get up. Man, I do miss that dog.

My favorite memory of my grandma was while she was on a lot of different meds declining from dementia so she couldn't have alcohol (mind you I had never seen her drink alcohol ever which make this even funnier) we were all together having pizza, my mom gave her milk and my granny couldn't stop going on and on about how if you're eating pizza you MUST have beer, refused to take a bite without a beer in her hand. Finally my mom gives in and gives her a root beer, all hell broke loose and my grandma scolded my mom "how dare you Mary Louise I raised you, I am a grown woman and I want beer with my pizza!" My mom then goes back to the kitchen and pours root beer in a tall Guinness glass and brings it to my granny, granny happily drinks it and enjoys her pizza 😂😂🍕🍻

My great aunt (grandma's sister) was absolutely ruthless when it came to games. Card games, board games, it didn't matter. One time, when she was visiting one of my aunts and her kids, they played the board game version of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' and one of my cousins used my aunt as a phone a friend and she deliberately gave my cousin the wrong answer because she didn't want her to win. I love the old lady breaking all the rules. Reminds me of my wife (she's Thai) when our first son was born, she was shopping for diapers but didn't know the differences in sizes. There was a sign on the shelf that clearly said 'Please do not open the packages.' My wife ignored the sign and tore open one of the packages to see what size the diapers were. I told her she wasn't supposed to do that. She replied to me. "I'll just say 'No English' if someone sees me opening them." We have been married for almost 29 years and though she is fluent in English, she still uses that excuse when she needs to...

Oh, she knew exactly what she was doing. Just because their body doesn't work right, does not mean that the mind is gone as well. She saw him take out a wad of bills, and just kept playing the 'feeble' grandma until she had it all. My grandmother was one who didn't want her grown up girls to worry about her. Mom got a call from the neighbor. Grandma had fallen, the neighbor (who visited daily) found her and took her to the hospital. She was there two days before the neighbor called, and that was only because she was having some trouble breathing and they put her on a ventilator. "Oh, don't call the girls, they can't do anything and I don't want them to worry." The neighbor was like 'Nope, I'm calling the girls, this is a lot more serious than a fall. My mother was partly laughing when she called me. " Oh, grandma's in the hospital because she fell and now she's on a ventilator, But she said she was JUST FINE." We were the closest and both of us took off work to go check on her. She was happy to see us, but a little upset that the neighbor had called "I told her I was going to be JUST FINE, don't let the girls worry." She got over that and was with us for another 20 years. I miss her every day.

Anyway, my father was driving us all to church one day (he was her son), and we were running a little late, so he was going at a pretty good clip. Outta nowhere, a cop shows up, lights and siren, and pulls him over, giving him a ticket for speeding. As we headed off to church, Grandma said, "Sure.
