The final update on the last story is that the dress was sold to someone else and the teenager who made it is using the money when he goes to college. Also, Aunt Bridezilla ended up with a last-minute off-the-rack dress that she had to pay for and that didn't look as good. So, karma won.

There was another update to the last story! They calculated the value of the dress to be 18-24,000 dollars(which is why the sister freaked out). They had put it up for sale online and found a buyer, who op said looked beautiful in the dress and was much more grateful than entitled sister. Her son now has a sizeable college fund. I loved that the son decided against sharing a photo of the dress, because I think he was being considerate of the woman who bought and loved it. This would be her dress, for her day. It wouldn't be the wedding dress that got splashed over the Internet. The buyer's wedding guests would see the bride and how beautiful she was. They wouldn't be seeing the controversial backstory. That 17 year old has profound good taste. I'm sorry that his aunt treated him so badly and hurt him by excluding him from the wedding. She should have been so honored that he was family; that he had made her look fantastic on that wedding day. A decent person would have been smiling and insisting on having him as a guest of honor. Serve him mocktails but make him drunk by lavishing him with praise and love.

i’m very glad she didn’t get the dress. and that he earned good money for that dress. he was probably imagining attending the wedding and seeing his design & how happy his aunt was while working so hard on it. he’s seventeen, that’s nearly an adult. to not make an exception for him is a very rude & dumb move. he made ur wedding dress, & is ur family. & is seventeen. there’s no reason to be so strict on ur rule, acting like seventeen year olds don’t find alcohol themselves anyways. he deserves a drink too after all that 😂 if ur worried about how he’d behave at the wedding, jus tell him. ur not afraid to tell him to fix this & that and nag him constantly about the dress so what is ur dealllll 💀💀💀🤦🏼‍♀️

Respect to the dad for supporting his son. If the bride wasn't planning to invite the 17 year old, she should've made that clear from the beginning AND, of course, paid for the dress. You can't expect a wedding gift (especially one that's not only expensive, but also took a lot of time and effort to put together) from someone you didn't even invite to your wedding!

I agree with those points, but something to consider...usually kid free weddings are respected as such without questions. OP made it very clear his son is the ONLY minor...on HIS side of the family. Family also being a key word there. He says NOTHING about the grooms family, nor the bride or grooms friends. We're supposed to believe that out of all the guests, from both families and friends, that hes the ONLY one with a minor child? Exceptions arent usually made because if you make it for one person, EVERYONE else will want the same special treatments. Especially the parents with even younger kids that will be paying for sitters, possibly overnight. THATS why child free weddings are supposed to be respected. Its not fair to put the bride and groom in that kind of position that could end up costing them more for the extra count. Because it starts with 1...how many will it end with by the big day? People are saying how its sad he doesnt get to see the dress he made in the wedding. 2 things here: wedding dress makers dont usually see the dresses walking down the aisle. They just make the dress and sell it. And...its not like he wouldnt be able to see it, as video is usually taken. Sure it wont be personal, but not impossible. She def should have let him known before hand and offered some money for it. But she shouldnt have to change her wedding and start making exceptions because her brother doesnt get their family arent going to be the only guests, let alone guests with minor children.
@weronikalinda4917
@weronikalinda4917 Жыл бұрын
@@Rhaenarys Like Melissa M. Sutton noticed, wedding doesn't equal reception. The bride could've invited the 17 year old only to the ceremony, not to the party afterwards. And any position she found herself in... I think she put herself there. It would've been different if the son had offered to make the dress for her, but she asked him and didn't offer to pay for it, so clearly she expected all this hard work from a minor for nothing, not even getting to see his creation on the big day. I think that's cruel tbh
@Rhaenarys
@Rhaenarys Жыл бұрын
@@weronikalinda4917 again though...that would be the same excuse everyone would make. If you make an exception for one, others are going to expect it, also, with the same reasons. His own family could be some of these guests including his own siblings. I think she should have handled it better than she did, however, its not fair to expect her to make exceptions for anyone knowing its going to cause drama in some way when its her wedding. Basically, any reason for why he should be able to go is the same for the rest of rhe guests.

As someone who is a couture wedding dress designer, I can tell you that the young man put in an extraordinary number of hours into creating that dress; it takes me an average of 140 hours from sketches, to toile, to finished dress. It is a lot of work and the very best job on this planet! The bride is a collaborator; the designer is the technician. My greatest joy is being invited to watch her walk down the aisle wearing the product of that partnership. Hopefully, his future will be filled with many such opportunities!

One of my bridesmaids is legally blind and photo sensitive, she wore sunglasses during the ceremony and I INSISTED that her dog walk down the aisle with her as my pup of honor. I got her a beautiful white lace bow for her hair and a bandana that almost perfectly matched the color of the bridesmaids dresses. Never in a million years did I think to actually ask her not to wear her sunglasses (fleeting thought? Yes, it was unusual under my normal circumstances) she needs what little eyesight she has not to give her a migraine when there’s lights on, it’s medically necessary for her to wear them. How the hell could that bride insist to the point of driving her friends away that this person be blind for her ceremony and reception? that’s not only cruel but dangerous. Exactly, there had to be a reason why contacts weren't an option. I mean, I use glasses, but I don't really like me that much with glasses so I wear contacts during the day and specially during fancy ocations. I also prefer contacts because, unlike glasses, they have no blind spots. There are still a ton of reasons why she wouldn't go for contacts: they can be expensive, maybe her sight is so bad that they are literally not an option, she might have very sensitive eyes or a high sensitivity to light, and so on. Without glasses or my contacts I'm literally a liability, I'm a danger to me and society. And, if she, herself, doesn't use contacts by her own will, it is for a reason. You cannot just force someone to put themselves in danger for an "aesthetic photo", period. She can get hurt, she can hurt someone, she might break something or ruin something, just, no.

The last story was definitely a “I don’t want my nephew overshadowing me.” Story. People would have found out that he made the dress, and he would’ve gotten tons of compliments on the talent and the time that he spent on it. Miss bridezilla did not want that, so she didn’t invite him. If OP had decided to let her use the dress, I am 95% sure that she would have said that a designer made that dress and not her nephew. It sounds like he has a very promising future and I wish him luck and success! He may be the next Christian Siriano (who also started out young and designs beautiful dresses). 💗

My daughter is also artistically talented. She makes all kinds of gifts, paintings and photos for people. She really spends a lot of time, effort, and her own money to be this creative. For the glasses story it’s also really weird that she waited until the day of the wedding to tell the bridesmaid that she can’t wear her glasses. She had to know she wore glasses before this and maybe if the bride asked the girl could’ve gotten contacts for the occasion or made other arrangements but she knew it would be an issue and thought she could strong arm the bridesmaid the day of. I’m super glad she got what she deserved.

It's honestly not even okay to ask someone to wear contacts for the day if they don't regularly wear contacts. Contacts have a getting used to period where you're supposed to wear them for short periods, extending the time a bit each time. Contacts also aren't cheap, and not everyone can or wants to wear them. Either accept the person with their glasses or not at all. Another side note is having allergies, a small cold, or any type of eye irritation means no contacts. They can also get messed up in the middle of the day. So it could happen on the day of that the person may not be able to wear them and has to wear glasses instead. Contacts should never be an expectation.

I still don't get that Bridezilla's 'aesthetic', because she wanted a White-Tie event with ballgowns for the women, in a castle in Europe BUT also hated all the antiques and wanted 'modern' furniture... She really went above and beyond for that bigoted bridezilla. Giving the bride the spreadsheet she did as well as the list of photographers as well as a full refund was more than the bride deserved. Though rather than looking at what the planner provided her as the planner being kind to a douchecanoe, I prefer to look at it as the planner hedging her bets in case the bride does decide to take the planner to court. I’m thinking the bride would have a difficult time proving the planner was an anti Christian who was being discriminatory towards the bride when the planner did more than she really had to for the bride.

Idk man, I was a bride as well and I organized my entire wedding just the way I wanted it in just a month or so with 120+ people. But I lost a friend or at least I thought she was a friend. Months before my wedding I baptized her son. She didn't want to do anything fancy, I mean she wanted to but her husband is not that type so we basically just went to the church, baptized the boy then we went to their place and her husband made some bbq and that was it. Considering it was this casual, I told her a week before the event that I won't be wearing heels. Just a dress and some white snickers (it was really hot those days). And she laughed and she said something like "lol no worries, i know you since we were 3, I was not expecting heels, all good". xD About the clothes for the boy, about the candles, everything, I asked her what she prefers so I'll buy things that she likes and you know to actually use them. She barely answered to my calls and messages. I bought the best things I could afford back then. All good until a month before my wedding when she declined the invitation and her reasons being that I didn't listen to her with anything about the clothes for the kid, that she felt insulted when I told her about me not wearing heels and that her husband felt insulted cause he wasn't home when i dropped the invitation to their place (he was at work). xD xD Then she accused me that she is the only one working for our friendship and I was like wait hold on... I've been the only one calling and texting for the past 7 - 8 months. xD If I don't call, you don't call. xD Like... I have screenshots, baby, I'll show you. She was my friend since we were 3, I did everything I could for her anytime she needed help or wanted to be spoiled with stuff. I've been there for her all the time. She was there for me for a short while too, but idk... And before she gave birth to her son, she married. Same thing, no party, just us at the city hall and dinner at a restaurant. She put 0 effort in that. I searched for her dress, for her shoes, for her flowers, did her make-up etc. I felt used and gaslighted and I just decided to end the friendship. It's almost 10 months now and all I can say is that I really enjoy the quietness.

👏 Such fantastic talent in a 17 year old! You can’t break the heart of a teenager like that - for making the dress he should be rewarded with a seat at the honour table! There IS, after all, alhoholfree age appropriate drinks. Further, bride & groom should pay him, thank him, praise his talents AND ask him to take a bow with applauds! I’d put above story in my appllcation letter for colleague if I were him. As a proof of his talent AND stamina. Finally: Great mum&dad supporting their kid & I would have done the same ❤

@@michelechesney3599 I agree, that's enough! Although we all seem to love Mike because he's funny and clearly loves our Charlotte, and we, of course, love Charlotte, and the two of them together is Kismet... there's still no reason to rush into marriage. If they never get married, that's fine too. True love lasts. I look at my friend from high school who met his soulmate in the early 1980s, who have been happily living and loving life together for decades. It's not that they didn't want to get married, it was because until 2015 they weren't _allowed_ to legally become each other's legal spouse. Tim and Carey have the kind of love and devotion that most only dream of. Same with my niece, who knew from day one that April was the one she wanted to spend her life with. Thing is, "April" was harassed "her" entire life because "she" looked and sounded like a boy. Couldn't use the women's restroom without someone screaming, even though born with female genitalia (he may have been born intersex, don't know because it's none of my business). In HIS heart, he was really "August". When they got married in Texas in 2015, they had comfortable combined income and good health insurance from my niece's career, so "April" became "August" through surgery and hormone treatments. They are very happy, and August is a handsome guy sporting a beard and a manly chest. They did move to a place where few people knew them before his change in appearance. It's a rural community outside Ft. Worth, where they have a few acres with horses. My niece loves telling us how all these evangelical Xstian country girls love flirting with her handsome husband! 😂 If they only knew...

For the anti homophobes planner, I'd definitely include a clause with specifics for contract termination from then on. I get that she didn't feel like keeping the money, but she had already done quite some work, and deserved to be compensated for that. So a clause about termination should definitely be added to protect herself in the future. Plus, she should totally warn her photographers, it's just common courtesy when they are being so blatantly discriminated like that.

I was confused that she didn't have some sort of retainer fee that she could keep in case of a situation like this, when things don't work out. Most photographers do that to cover their losses if something like this happens. If the full payment was up front, you'd partially refund and keep the retainer fee.

As a Christian, I don't see the problem with having gay photographers. This is a business transaction, I can't see why sexuality would have anything to do with it. You might hire a straight photographer and find out they do some weird shit behind closed doors, will you fire them too? Their private life is their own business and has nothing to do with you or your wedding.

I think that the bride that complained about the glasses ON the day of her wedding could have gotten away with her complaining if she had asked months prior if the glasses girl could wear contacts instead on the day of her wedding. Even if informed early why would someone go through the inconvenience of using contact lenses ( idk how comfortable contacts are never used them but I know few ppl who prefer glasses as contacts cause them dryness). Story time; As a housekeeper in a nursing facility, there was a wedding outside from the Covid-positive hall I was working in. It was in 2020, the bride, priest, groom, and some others were standing in the middle of a field that was near our facility. No masks, the dress was muddy bc it rained a day prior. The silver lining, was that it made our sick residents happy to see a wedding, so ig it wasn't too bad
