My mom thought one of my bfs in high school was unattractive, but I didn't really see it because he was a great bf. He was teased at school at lot, but I never found him to be unattractive tho. My dad didn't believe he was high school for months... but I guess a bald 6 ft tall dude in high school with a giant head would raise alarm bells for any dad lol Fast forward like 17 years later and we're married... he just had to grow into his features, and now all the nurses at his job are after him. Don't let people stop you from loving who you want just because they don't fit societal standards of what is and isn't attractive... had I been hung up on that, I would've missed out on a wonderful man.

I had a guy pick me up for a date. 5 minutes from my house a cat ran across the road in front of us. Not close enough that he had to break, just close enough to see it. He shouted and swore at the cat and spent the rest of the drive ranting about how much he hated cats. I had 2 cats.

I used to hate cats, because my parents hated cats. But after getting engaged, my fiance wanted a cat. So we got a cat. And I adored her! Eventually, we had TEN. Yeah, she turned into Crazy Cat Lady, lol! After we divorced (after 15 years), she got up to 17 cats! All INDOORS! Then she got evicted, and they had to TEAR THE HOUSE DOWN, because it stunk so bad! She was nose blind by then, but the ammonia smell was OVERWHELMING. Anyway, I have a new wife, and we have 2 cats. The ex currently has 5. BTW, Pooky is a cat, lol. 🐱❤

I used to complain that things were expensive. I was raised by a single mother with three jobs and I kind of learned to bargain shop and budget and stuff. Then I met my current boyfriend who basically spent every cent he had that didn't go towards rent and didn't even look at the cost of things. And yeah, I mentioned how crazy expensive things were when he took me on dates because I was absolutely shocked he'd spend that. We've been together 9 years. He now mentions how things are stupidly expensive and I shrug and buy the things. We've balanced each other out beautifully :P

Littering! He bought us a really nice lunch and set up a picnic in the park for our date, which was lovely and I actually really liked him until we went to leave and he had NO intention of cleaning up after the picnic or throwing away any of the empty to go containers and ridiculed me for insisting we bring the garbage to the trash can that was 20 feet away from where we can been sitting. I get it that ladies don't always want to "gussy" up just to go grab a coffee or something like that, but I really don't want to be seen with a lady who has gravy stains on her shirt that has holes in it. Presentable is always appropriate, is it not? I find it rather embarrassing to be put in that kind of situation. Again, I totally get not throwing on the ball gown for groceries, but track pants and stains on the top have no excuse. If they don't care about that, I wonder what else they don't care about?
@balzonurchin

I'm exactly opposite. I'd break up with you for wearing make-up every freaking day. Women who are comfortable in their own skin are far more attractive to me than those who need to spend two hours to get ready to go grocery shopping. Especially with today's make-up trends, like waxing off eyebrows just to pencil in some stupid blocky looking black polygons to go with their gigantic fake horse eyelashes and eyeshadow with wings and purple hair. I prefer actual human beings over insecure anime clowns.

This video left me feeling pretty good. My late husband made me fall head over heels in love with him the day he used the word "Australo[pithecus" in context, in a conversation with me. @@jenniferwintz2514 Please don't worry about anything, Jennifer. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable; that was not my intention. I was 14 when Lucy made the cover of National Geographic, and I have devoured everything I could ever read about her. The leader of the expedition that found her, Don Johanson, was my idol until I finally got to university at age 35 (after serving in the military). I sent him a message thanking him for being the inspiration for my decision to study anthropology. The day of my first-ever university class, Intro to Anth, I received a postcard from him wishing me well in my studies. I am in Canada, he was, I believe, at Stanford at the time, but the postcard arrived postage due! It was my prized possession until I lost it in a fire. If you ever get to New Zealand and take the tour at the Weta Cave, they have a replica of Lucy's skull in their tour that was used as inspiration for the Orc creatures in LotR! You would likely love that tour! Have you read the book "The Hominid Gang"? It tells the story of the native workers who contribute so much to human origins research. It was one such worker who identified the first fragment of Lucy ever found!

@@jenniferwintz2514 One little hint in case you ever do visit NZ and tour the set from Hobbiton. When Peter Jackson re-worked the tree that "grows" above Bag End for The Hobbit films, they placed 250,00 leaves on the frame of the tree - all by hand. As you tour the set, look around your feet. I found one of the leaves that had blown off during a windstorm. Our tour leader allowed me to keep it, so I ave a very special souvenir of my favourite films ever! I would advise against "liberating" pieces of the set, obviously, but, as Bilbo advises Frodo: keep your feet! I am impressed that you are aware of the contribution to human origins research by Native workers. Even in my classes few people were aware of that!

Didn't break up with him because of that, something else broke that camel's back, but his parents made it very clear that they hated me because I wasn't the Mexican catholic girl they wanted him to have. They even went so far as to recommend him break up with me so that he could "explore his options," even though I made him happy. We became friends again recently-ish and he's talked about how he hasn't yet found a girl that made him so happy and he hates his parents for just not letting their kid be happy with someone. I feel freakin' bad everytime he brings that up, but we were younger and dumber and he hurt me. I don't regret breaking it off, but I could've been nicer about it. I got dumped once because, and I quote, " Your eyebrows and fingernails are way nicer than mine and I just cannot handle that"... It was brutal especially since I do nothing special to my brows or nails. I was speechless. also she did it while we were out at Mexican with 5 other couples and 1 other single lady friend. I was mortified as the food had just arrived and everyone was sitting there eating and laughing and she drops that bomb then gets up and leaves. That was six months ago and I now live with and am engaged to the other single friend that was there that night, so It was a terrible and a great event. Monica and I have so much more in common and it is not my fault I have good nails and eyebrows, I refuse to be ashamed of the few good features I have as a slightly overweight gamer. I am a 5 who is marrying a 9 (hahahahahaha life is good now)

@S May not a mother tongue here so I'm just speculating on the matter: if the correction is about the pronunciation of the "E" of ego (MAYBE) he may be referring to the fact that ego is a latin word and he's trying to use the supposed latin pronunciation? If so, it's just about accents, every language takes some words from others and then kind of adapt it to its phonetic so it's not so deep in my opinion (I'll never get my granpa to say "bluetooth" right and that's ok ahaha) but maybe he's really passionate about latin?🥲 Really don't know I'm just trying to understand why would it be so crucial for him if he didn't believe he is completely right 😅

I wasn't being petty but to him, I was! Last guy I dated was when I was 18 (I'm 31 now) and dated him for ten months. I started working since I was 14 and when I was dating him, I worked multiple jobs as I was planning to go to college and didn't want my parents to pay for me. He would always complain about how much he hated working, that he wanted to stay home all the time, and that household work was just too much for him to do. He wanted to just go and hang out with his friends - who I found out to be MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS (12/13 yr olds). I found that incredibly creepy and was not about to become the mother of an 18 year old so I called him up and asked him what he wanted to do with his life. He responded with to sit at home, hang out with his friends, and play games. I broke up with him over the phone and he went OFF calling me a petty lazy ass bitch. Mind you, this boy worked ONE 4 hour shift a week at a fucking pancake house while I worked 80+ hours a week.

OK, community notice to the ladies: if you have a guy pestering you for pictures throughout the day, that guy is checking up on you to make sure you're where you say you are (like work) and it's an indication of controlling behaviour and paranoid jealousy. Don't date that guy.
@mac_lak
@mac_lak 3 жыл бұрын
Or that's your own delirium, or why YOU may ask for pictures. Since I speak with my wife a lot, and since we don't hide anything, one of the reason we disturb the other at work is only "am I important enough for you to be able to unfocus you from work, or even put you a bit at risk just for me?". It's simply fishing for attention and get a little proof of love. Nothing more. From my own experience, control freaks are way more often women than men. If you want to distinguish the two, send a picture WITHOUT anything in the background (or a simple white wall), so that NOTHING can reveal your exact position. Also, remove EXIF informations from the image (if you don't know what I'm speaking about, then you'll have nightmares once you will know), in particular geolocation informations. Send the picture. Then wait for the reply. If it's "Thank you, love you!", and this EACH TIME, then you are yourself a control freak who projects her own faults onto others. If he ask for more, in particular with questions like "Where are you? I can't recognize the place" or, worst, if he says that your phone is misconfigured and that he'll fix it this evening, then you were right. But don't generalize so easily, please, in particular if you don't want to be put in a generalization yourself.

@@mac_lak Imagine outing yourself like this and thinking you're making a good point. Your relationship creeps me the f--k out. It's not cute. You SOUND like one of the men they were talking about. If you're in a place where you're constantly "testing" each other's love, you're fourteen or you need therapy. That's not how healthy adult couples behave; and any professional would tell you that. "My husband kept texting me at work to prove he loves me - now he has no job, because no rational boss allows that behaviour! So cute! We're about to be homeless, because we can't pay rent; but he loves me!" Pathetic.
@mac_lak
@mac_lak 3 жыл бұрын
@@LordofFullmetal Or maybe you can LEARN TO READ? 1) Where did I said we're "constantly testing" each other? => I said that we disturb the other at work for a given (not vital) reason. Nowhere I said we did it constantly, daily, or ANYTHING ELSE regarding how much we do it. Instead of asking the frequency (I would have told you "maybe once a MONTH"), you assumed we "constantly test" the other... I would call that a projection of yourself and a huge red flag on your own control freak behavior. If the kids are sick, if there is a serious issue, I won't "disturb" her. I'll call directly the general standard to get her on phone, or I'll directly drive to her work. Since I'm easier to reach through phone, she'll simply call non-stop until I pick up the call - two times maximum usually. 2) Where did I say that we request things like pictures or geolocalized things? => We CALL each other (or text). She works in an Alzheimer geriatric care unit, she's not even able to carry her phone BUT during her breaks. I'm a workaholic engineer constantly stuck with meetings, non-interruptible critical tasks and so on. Our "risk" is to stop working 5 minutes, because everyone can be down sometimes. She can be down because one of her resident she liked just died, because she had a rough time with a resident who had a dementia crisis, or because half the staff didn't shown up at work and she's overloaded. And she may need a shoulder, even for only few minutes. Her job isn't easy at all. On my side, failing at my job can have critical impacts: first, huge money loss (we speak in million euros as unit), people getting fired (if project collapses), and for most of my projects, life hazards for final customers if something nasty isn't detected at validation stage. And I must deal with some heavy dumbasses who still think that 9 women can deliver a baby in one month... The smartest ones still think that a woman can build up a baby 3 months, use it, then finish later the remaining 6 months pregnancy when things would not be rushed anymore. And I'm not allowed to bury their heads in the closets despite there is obviously sh*t instead of a brain inside. 3) As a corollary, you assume that we need therary. => From my 47 year old experience, *_most people look for their own repressed faults in others._* In particular religious, integrists, and extremists people - that includes also feminists and a lot of "-ists" things, BTW, with a major exception with _real_ atheists, who simply won't care at all about you unless you start to p*ss on their shoes. => As for being 14: if you're not able to get back to a 14 yo mentality sometimes, then I seriously pity your children. I can even go back to mental 5 yo - or less! - behavior without any problem. That's why my son LOVES his dad, because even if I'm strict on politeness, behavior, etc. with him, I can still play properly with him when he (daily) needs it. Even my toddler loves to play with me, despite he's "only" 16 months old. And yes, their mother, like most women, is unable to get down to a child's mental level to understand how he is feeling. That's what being a father is: alternating roles depending on what the children needs at this exact time. We owe it to ourselves to be both an authority figure, a "police officer", an anchor to get through hardships, a reference for crucial choices, a shoulder to cry on, a wall of protection, and a stupid friend to make people laugh. And this is only part of our "job" as fathers. And being a husband is also a complex, multiple role. A short, short resume is "your roomate, your best friend, your lover, your shield, your craftsman, your master, your servant, your half, your fire, your blanket". And I bet that you will trigger on one word without understanding why I put it here - or what is really behind each of these willingly simple words. Meaning BTW that you don't know what a "healthy adult couple" is... I'll give you a clue anyway... She's MY wife. They are MY sons. How patriarcal it sounds, isn't it? But... I'm HER husband. I'm THEIR dad. And I'll jump into fire for any of them, while forbidding them to impair even a little bit their lives for me, whatever they may say. If you can't relate to what I say, then you never met a "real man". Or maybe you can ask you own dad: if he was a "good" dad/husband, there is a high probability that he replies to you "Yeah, that's obvious, what's the problem?".

@@srkh8966 Nice, I was a bit upset today because my linseed oil don't dry properly... 1) Less unnecessary than your own comment : at least, someone can have learned something with mine. Sorry not sorry, I use my ten fingers and type at 50 words per minute at least. With capitals and punctuation, BTW. 3) Long is also very relative. It may seems long when you don't have more than 1000 words of vocabulary, or when you think that sports magazines are literature. I commonly read two or three books a week - before you ask, my toilets are equipped with bookshelves. 4) I don't watch TV, at all. Including sports. I also don't drink beer or any other alcohol, therefore I'm always able to do everything. I don't play gambling games during whole nights, too. And I don't waste a precious daily time with a religion. 5) I reply during my idle time when I do something else on my computer - this happens A LOT when you need to wait for compiling, flashing, uploading, etc. - or when I have real, free time (like when I wait for an oiled wood to cool down a bit, and I can't do anything else because it would produce a lot of noise and my toddler is taking a nap). 6) Don't project on others the fact that you aren't able to properly slice your available time. Most people can. 7) Not everyone is a lazy ass sleeping 12 hours a day, at least not once adult. 8) Using some proper vocabulary allows reducing the number of words needed to express an opinion. Even when it's not your native language. That are the base explanations I can give to you, just by quickly think about your question. Having weird shit about you doesn't mean you can't be an AMAZING, faithful, and awesome husband or wife...it just means you're human.

I used to be like that but about caps. If the guy were wearing a cap for a night out, I wouldn’t give him a chance. Not after me spending hours chosing an outfit, doing make up, hair and nails! Funny thing is, when my best friend called me to catch up, she showed up at my house with a friend who she knew liked me. Long story short, he was wearing a cap and some sports jacket. We have been married for 10 years.

I see a lot of people in the comments saying that's a crypto control technique. He wants a NEW picture because he wants to know you really are where you say you are. Get into a relationship with that guy, and two years later he'll be checking the mileage in your car, like "You said you were going to work. That's 15 miles round trip! Why did you put 18 miles on your car, you lying b****!"

@@Revelwoodie I'd never get into a relationship wit a guy who a) wants me to send him pictures before we know each other and b) can't take a no. Because that's another major thing with those people. They never accept it when you decline their demand and even if they say it's okay, they're back at it maybe an hour later, depending on his entitlement. Not that I get into relationships anyways.... but good to know that this is a control thing

I bet I know what happened; he wanted the two of you to go to Vegas and get married without letting anyone know, but you told him that you cantaloupe! And you made a wise choice. Most people don't know that Nevada has a range of bears that are SO dangerous in SO many ways, the Wildlife Service assigns them letter categories just to keep track. The most deadly are the black bear E's! Ok, I went too far that time, didn't I? It's alright, I understand - I won't try to a peel your verdict. I'll see myself out.

@Janita jj As a former tow truck driver and firefighter, I once dated a woman that while I didn't feel that I was judging her driving, I was asking questions to find out why she was doing them for safety reasons, because she scared the shit out of me when she drove. Like, why do you only activate your turn signals as you are turning? She felt aggravated by the sound of the turn signal and only used them enough so that she could tell any cop that she did use them. "It doesn't count when you stomp on the brake, crank your wheel to the right, and halfway through your turn you turn your signal on!" Or weaving through city traffic at high rates of speed, constantly blowing through amber lights, not following the rules of the road at stop signs, and being an overly aggressive driver because, "Driving time is a waste of her time when she could be doing other useful things."

I dated him for eight months and I broke up with him because he thought my second language was “Islamic.” For context, this man was well traveled and practiced his ex girlfriend’s language (Mandarin) every night before bed. It just showed me he didn’t pay attention to me enough in eight whole months to know I speak Arabic.

That last one with the constant messaging happened to me. I didn’t last long with him, but if I didn’t respond adequately for him, he got all insecure. He once messaged me asking me how I was doing. I was driving and only had enough time at a red light to respond “I’m fine” followed by “driving.”That set him off to blow up my phone with messages needing reassurance I wasn’t mad at him. I had to pull over and text him (AGAIN) I was driving and couldn’t answer. He wasn’t settled until we talked later. Don’t know why he was texting me anyway, he was supposed to be working. We had a serious talk about his texting and boundaries that day. It didn’t last much longer. 😝
