You should do a pettyjohn shop tour, since you are in the same town.

Sort of their Marshall in a box. I will check these out, and the Iron and Chime. Apparently they got a combined Iron and Chime version now.

The second pedal they ever came out with was called the Pettydrive, it had both the iron and the chime in it. Then Pettydrive v2, iron and chime v1 and finally iron and chime v2. Just subtle differences over the years, like more gain, silent switch, and a higher internal charge pump, the old ones would double 18V at the input, but the new ones turn 9V into 36V. Anyway, all of this is history, they discontinued the foundry and core lines at the beginning of 2022, now they do like 10 limited runs of 50 pedals a year. Cheers.

@@kosmicwizard good stuff, thanks. My son, who gigs more regularly than I do at this point, is very impressed with the Pettyjohn brand and has one of the earlier Iron versions, which fits well with the newer New Country genres he plays now. At least, last I knew. He goes through a lot of stuff! He couples it with a Fender Super-Sonic 22, so I suspect he can get a wide range of tones with that pedal and the tube amp. I decided to do the KISS principle since I mostly gig solo on voice and guitar (sprinkled with some lead solos here and there) with my own backing tracks anymore (I can/have play/played all the three guitar rock band roles, including bass, drums and some hack keys, with a synth guitar set-up that can cover a lot of other instruments). Working on consolidating all my existing gear, keeping the best, selling the rest, and perhaps spring for a Neural DSP Quad Cortex eventually, no rush. I probably really don't need it, but it might be nice, TBD. It has a lot of good stuff and features in it, and the captures are unreal. I hear it is very responsive also in feel. No way I am selling all of my tube amps though, got to have a few of those for kicks and giggles out on the gig or just fooling around, jamming, whatever, no doubt. Best to you in the Good Lord's grace! 🙂

Andy, I was really hoping to see your new goldtop deluxe again.

Andy Martin is a cool player, for sure. Hard to beat those Gibson Goldtop Deluxes for all the guitar you need, if you dig the action and weight, etc. A near lifelong friend (and bandmate) and I went up to Chuck Levin's Washington Music one day in his cool hardtop Maroon Ford Mustang (Chuck's is still there in Wheaton, MD). He tried every Gibson GT Deluxe on the floor, including ones in boxes in the basement, until he found the one he liked best and bought it, and then he later played it in our band for a while. He sold it later to one of our bandmates. That day was the start of our lifelong friendship, just a fun, crazy trip and day and we still catch up on the phone although in two different States now. Just yesterday. So, the Gibson Goldtop Deluxe LP definitely has a place in my history, ha. His had the mini-humbuckers.

EXTREMELY interesting :-) Did the sound change?

No. And it didn't make play like Andy either. Which is disappointing as my name is also Andy.

I prefer it though the wima cap and the high headroom switch on, Andy has it as compressed as it can get.
