In my opinion, this is the best Head Lamp "Torch" on the market. It's easy to use. It has several light function options. The CORE recharge a polity is sweet. Plus, as he said, it will take 3 AAA batteries. Again, in my opinion, this unit is awesome! I want to buy one for every one of my packs.

I've owned one for the last three or four years.. the upsides: it still works ok and the rechargeable battery still lasts like it did when new, the headband hasn't become slack and still has some elasticity to it. on the downsides: the housing has at least two cracks in it without it ever being dropped, although they aren't a problem. the rubber on the switch on top has fallen to pieces,so there is a risk of water getting in when used in rain. the red light decided it no longer wanted to turn off so I ended up having to pull the led off the pcb inside... so it's mostly good but longevity is'nt that good..I would have hoped simple usage took a few more years to wear it down that much.. (I've got a black diamond from 2005 that still works fine..now that's longevity)

Really interesting to hear that. Mine is still going strong. Thanks for watching.

Funny you mention the quality. I took delivery of a Tactikka plus yesterday and it was immediately apparent how shat the build quality is compared to the older lamps (I have a Tikka 2 and the plastic on the body is way better). I was ticked off by this so emailed Petzl to tell them my thoughts. It wasn’t cheap either. Just companies trying to squeeze more profit out of their customers. Just not good enough. The lighting is impressive but the body is cheap and nasty. Should be named the Tackia.

Good review. I like mine a lot; tend to use it for painting miniatures in the evening as much as for camping!

Thanks Dave. Great torch.

Just opened my new Petzl Core and the directions are horrible I will say. What should be simple was not. The “pull” initially looked like it was for the covering of the battery. Thankfully figured out before completely ripping it that it was to pull the battery out of the headlamp. Directions on each lamp setting and how to turn on/off not laid explained well in the directions either. Kinda felt like an idiot but your video was spot on! Thanks!

Glad to be of help. I think the torch just needs some fiddling around with and you get the hang of it. 👍

Thanks Ben, I like Petzl kit, I've used them for extreme stuff like ice climbing outings and a lot of winter climbing, I dont have any core head torches but after your review I will be looking at the rechargeable aspects of them, I'd like to see how the battery performs at low temps. ATB.

Nice review and I do love Petzl, interesting recharge design and great to have the option to use triple A's as a backup. Very handy to have a red light as well, might have to be my next one.

The difference in brightness between Standard and Max Power is bit of a letdown for me. 100 lumens is pretty low. They should have bumped it up to 200 or 250.
@benhikescamps4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, it's worked well for me so far but if a brighter rechargeable version was available, I'd consider it. Many thanks for watching and commenting.

Its better than the Petzl Reactik which cost me £100. Get a second core and you can have continuous charging from power bank.

I don't understand the fascination with these plastic headlamps. If they cost half that price, it's ok. However, the price with a Li-ion battery is the price at which you can buy a really high-quality headlamp, not plastic without a battery seal 😳😳😳
@benhikescamps Жыл бұрын
Never had any issues with it. Has been solidly reliable for multiple camps, hikes and adventures in all weathers including rain, cold and heat. Great product.

@@benhikescamps I have three Petzl headlamps. 2x Petzl Tikkina 60 and 80lm (old models - after a few years the button started to stick to the finger 😳) and Tactikka 300lm. They are actually trouble-free. However, the Petzl have always had no seal on the battery container, but I have not used them in the rain. However, the container is not airtight and this is absurd.
