This was my Fiat Panda 100HP that was used in the filming…… 👌🏼👌🏼 Great day pitting it against the 205…… And VBH was brilliant, took time to have a good chat with us while filming was happening……

This. I loved my old XS (later TU engine version) as while by any vaguely modern standards a 205 GTI is featherlight, the XS felt noticeably lighter still in the nose and more willing to turn in and change direction. Wasn't quick, but thrived on revs and really was a joyous little thing - and back then you could pick up a tidy one for a few hundred quid.

I had a 205XS in white, with the 85 bhp TU engine. The most fun car I've ever owned and the only car I've regretted selling.

I owned a 1988 red XS with original alloy wheels and sun roof for many years and it was a really enjoyable car to drive. Not GTI performance but reasonable economy and I serviced it in the street outside my house, it was easy to look after. Probably the car I miss the most.

I love the Panda 100HP - I keep looking at secondhand ones - if they drive anywhere near as well as they look, I’ll bet they’re an absolute hoot!

They are a lot of fun….. this is mine used in the film. I’ve had a BMW M2 comp and a Focus RS while I’ve owned the panda… and most of the times I take the panda as it always makes me smile….

I bought a 205 XS as it was the fastest car I could insure at 18. It was fabulous and my friends thought so too. Within a couple of months two of my friends also bought them. So we would turn up like something from fast and furious in a red, grey and white 205xs.

i loved my 90 205XS. I was the facelifted version that had 87BHP and I loved it; so much fun to drive and decent performance for the power available. The only downsides were the leaky sliding sunroof and poor build quality (a thief bent the upper door frame to break into it one night.

I have had 2 x Panda 100HP since 2022. They are amazing cars that just put a smile on your face everytime you head out for a drive. VIciki is right about the handling and feel you get with the boxy Fiat. It's great to have something you can drive at 100%, 100% of the time, whilst staying on the good side of the legal system! There are many other more capable cars and better daily runners out there. However, the sensation with one of these is unmatched if you fancy something a bit weird! A huge plus with the 100hp is that they are surprisingly reliable and cheap to run (just stay away from the body panels then parts are cheap and easy to source).

First car I ever drove was a 205, a driving instructor car around a field at a fete. I crashed into a hedge/fence after getting my arms crossed over. (I was maybe 12 I think which is why it was in a field...) But I have been smitten with them ever since. Along with the 306 and 106.

I was lucky enough to have a Panda 100hp as my first car and it remains to this day, the absolute most fun I’ve ever had in a car.

The first XS that came out had the old twin carb engine in which wasn't too clever, then they changed it for a twin choke carb motor, alot better. Loved mine

A mild small chuckable car is brilliant for the English country roads you can go flat out all the time. Like the original mini go kart handling push it on and you will smile you whole ownership.

The 100HP is a brilliant car, i've had 3 of them. Their achilles heel is the rear axle, it rots away at the suspension cups and is a £900 part plus VAT. It's not made for other Pandas, and the Fiat 500 one is wider.

And the 4X4 is yet another completely different one again, for my standard 1.1 i can put any of the 3 on but not the other way around.

Epic episode! (What's really missing, tho, is the Clio Mk1 1.4 'S' 80hp. Its close-ratio JB1-053 'box and 16v-borrowed suspension & seats, made for one of the juiciest warm hatches of them all. The relative lack of power made the steering even sharper. The pronounced swirl intake ports of the E7J-710 version of the venerable & unburstable Energy 8-valve engine, made for torquey progress and carefree, pedal-to-the-carpet reliable warmhatchery. Micra Si was also a contender, albeit much less competent than the Rally-bred Clio.) Great, great times they were...

An ex had an XS many moons ago. It must have been the worst example in the country at the time but it still couldn't quite hide the brilliance underneath. It resulted in me buying the GTI which remains one of the most fun cars I've owned.

I loved the 205 XS and had two through the late 90s and early noughties (at the same time!). They were brilliant and loved to be driven hard, and were not too far behind the GTi versions in real world performance. A set of pepper pot alloys from the 1.6 GTi (with 5mm spacers) on one of them greatly improved the handling. The massive benefits of a lack of weight are highlighted so much nowadays. The only negatives on those cars were weak windscreens and wiper linkages, and those pesky pieces of trim on the C-pillars always getting lost (or stolen) 😡

This has the TU engine with 85bhp, it’s a bit nippier and felt lighter than the earlier Douvrin engined models.

I owned 2 205xsi's. A g-reg black and later an f-reg red one. Loved both of them. Also loved the short gearing which made them feel quite quick but it was a nightmare on the motorway obvsly. Nobody I gave a lift to could believe they were only a 1.4. no really 😅

5000 for those cars is nuts!
@williamegler87713 күн бұрын
Why? If collectors want them £5,000 for a rust-free well maintained low mileage example is a pittance.
@lostre773 күн бұрын
Inflation is a bitch and everything is relative. Ask yourself how much do you need for your monthly expenses and soon you will find out that the 50 of yesterday lost triple its value today, if not more. Now do the math and you will find out that actually the prise for those two cars is right there with everything else. Including the necessities for your survival like food, shelter etc. And that is what really is nuts.
@andrewvincent18282 күн бұрын
I think you'll struggle to get an xs for £5,000. They are catching up to the GTi on prices unfortunately

Panda 100hp was the most disappointing car I’ve ever owned. Like a normal Panda but ruined. Suspension is horrific. Way too stiff to make any sort of progress on bumpy roads. Engine feels strangled. Looks cool though and maybe with a few mods it could be okay. So many cars out there for the same money that will be more fun.
