Thanks mate, great tutorial on how to solve this problem. Just pulled back the panel in boot to check for water in that corner and BINGO! Wondered why I was getting so much condensation on inside of windows.

That's brilliant and thanks for putting in all the effort to to find the problem and share it. I would never have thought of looking in the boot for the leak, i sealed the vent on the drivers side rear and tested with a hose and found it also leaking from the openings behind the rear view light as well so i sealed them also.

Thanks for your clip. Just had exactly the same issue with my 308. Took I to my local windscreen repair and they did a leak detector test, water was pouring in through my rear brake lights and the air vents under the rear bumper, had it reasealed and it is good now.

Hey Foo, I had the exact same troubles in our 308 from '11... But it all started last summer when I noticed a bad smell. It was about a pint oof water in the boot itself. Just took off the bumper to clean and seal these two vents back onto the rear frame. Unfortunately it is not completely gone... I found out today after some rain it is still wet end dripping from the area of the right tail light. So there is more to seal. Anyway, I Hope your fix saved the issue with yours! Cheers

rear light gasket at fault which is common as are, the vents, try using sticky backed draught excluder around the lights should solve it. if it isnt fixed eventually the rear connections will rust giving you more problems, hope that helps.

Thanks for sharing. I have this issue. I checked and found water in the rear light cluster and then sealed with silicone. However, after drying front footwell, water has reappeared following rain. I've checked front windscreen area but still can't see where the water is coming in from.

good video mate did this over a year ago, still leaked. Showered the car whilst crawled in the back to fid drips on the light cluster winged nuts only small drips but over time caused same results
@white_shadow_12310 ай бұрын
Yep, mine leaks there as well. I've poured some water on the back, and it enters there. I will try to remove the whole bumper because I think it's easier to access the vents that way and I will try to apply some bathroom caulk silicone to seal the edges. I'll add the reply how it went.
@white_shadow_12310 ай бұрын
That was it. I siliconed the vents, tested them and they don't leak anymore. Had to take the driver seat out and lift the carpets. The sponge underneath was soaked. Took out the sponge to dry and left the carpets lifted to dry also. I hope that fixed it...

I have had water in the rear boot area on my 308 2007, after some investigation i found the water was coming in from the ends of the roof strips which hold a roof rack, I noticed the section ending above the boot where it ends can slide back a little by lifting one of the roof rack flaps and pushing it carefully towards the rear of the car it should move enough to reveal a hole in the body (mine was covered in algae and slime) which the end of the strip locates, it has no rubber seal ?????? this is why water is getting inside the body area below. there is a gutter channel underneath the strip which channels water past this area and a lot of water seeps into the rear boot and into the rear area footwells i pushed the strips back a little and silicone sealed the ends and carefully pushed them back into place and added a little more sealant around the ends, It worked for me that was two years ago and my car is bone dry ever since with no more damp smells or trapped water, result.!!!

Just did this exact thing to my car. Also check the plastic pins holding the rear bumper to the body. They’re common fault too.

I have this 308 and the french have no knowledge in designing rain runoffs. I had those pressure flaps replaced recently. I even had a leak at one of the weld/glue where two body metal sheet meet. Water ran inside the C pillar from the top into the boot.
@edwardshepherd96844 жыл бұрын
Read my comment, the two strips on the roof, slide them back and you will see why this happens.

Many thanks for the video! A true life saver. I have a question though: is it possible to close that vent.from the inside? I have the access without having to dismantle the bumper. If that air vent is just the trouble, maybe the best solution is just to seal it with silicone??
@foomonger8213 Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if you can do it from the inside. But you could make a blanking plate to replace it and silicone it in place.
@predragvukovic2741 Жыл бұрын
@@foomonger8213 Yes, I just checked, and the only thing I can do is maybe put the silicone with my fingers around the vent. I can reach it somehow. Just trying to avoid removing the whole bumper. I have parking sensors, which makes it more difficult. Thakns anyways for the info about the leakage source. It was really pain in the a.. having my car damp , I hope I will solve it finally myself

Hello, remove the air vents which are under the rear bumper on both sides, and either replace them fully or add bathroom sealant around the seal which has probably failed through age. I hope this helps.

No mate. I managed to sort it without taking the bumper off but you need to make space by loosening it from the inner wheel arch. That gives enough room to work, but it’s tight!!
