Dude... Thank you so so much for this video. I went crazy trying to find the leak. And the water made my car really moldy. The mechanics didn't have any idea why. Thank you again! Greetings from Croatia 😊

The Air vent is to release stale air from the cabin, fresh air is drawn into the Car from the front intake/heater when the car is in motion. I had the water problem in my Citroen C3 trunk as you described, I cured it. Open the trunk and in both top corners are rubber sealing covers, one is for wiring and the other is the rear window wash hose, this I found, was the culprit it's very soft and easily lifted with the fingers, I applied Silicone sealant at the top edge of the inside, of the covers taking care to keep it as neat as I could, let it harden before lid is closed . . .

Hi. Thank you very much . I replace them and no more water in the boot. 😊 I also found moisture at the boot release button on the inside (peugeot 307 2006 hatchback ) after l replace the boot locking removing the plastic cover and the wires. I will replace that boot switch and clean the area.

Yes, it has been pointed out by other people that the boot latch/release button could also leak through there as well. Well done!

Thanks for the tutorial, i have combi model with the same issue, but the vents are easier to reach on mine. Got some water between the pedals and drivers seat too, that cant really locate..
@moremolecules3 ай бұрын
Difficult to say, but for water in the pedal area I would check the scuttle panel leaves and debris. It coul dbe that it is blocked and overflowing during rain.

Interesting that I should find your channel now. I have a 2012 Peugeot 308 and i'm tracing a water leak into the boot. With inner trim removed I could confirm that the metal overlap each side of the car (roughly in-line with the hinges) under the boot seal seemed to be letting in water. But a quick try tonight in the rain and my fix didn't work. I can confirm the light units are not letting in water so my next thought is these vents. But not entirely sure.
@moremolecules7 ай бұрын
Haha, probably coincidence or the algorithms in action. I'm not saying that this is the only way water can go in the boot. It could also be the boot opening mechanism as well. Nevertheless, the two vent fixed my problem and I have not seen any water in the boot now. I might eventually re-do it with a proper thicker seal, rather than the current one that was a bit on the thin side. Nothing is stopping you from taking them out and seeing for yourself if they have perished. Or simply put your hand in the vents and feel them for moisture/water. That would certainly tell you if they are leaking. I suspect that if you can leave the car pointing up (engine up) on a hill overnight and you have emptyed the boot of water before that, there will be no water again. If you put the car boot up and engine down on a hill, I bet there will be quite a bit of water in there. That is how the vents will let water in if the seals have persihed. Good luck!

I had bunch of leafs/dust clogging irrigation lines behind rear lights, so gaskets there were soaked and leaking as well... Took care of that, but it kept filling through these vents, but I thought I had to remove bumper to reseal them. Might try your way. Thanks!
@moremolecules2 жыл бұрын
I also thought I had to remove the bumper as well, but it is relatively straight forward to take the vents out from underneath. Unfortunetely, it was a bit difficult to film under the car. It is doable, just needs perseverance. I drained ~6L of water from the boot and it has started to get a bit of rust in there. I just noticed this very recently. There was rain last night and nothing has come through as yet. So it seems that it has worked, but I will re-post if a thicker seal is needed.
@panchodavilla2 жыл бұрын
@@moremolecules Yeah, I got some rust specks in trunk and on spare wheel as well... I noticed problem last summer by unusually high humidity in car. I was hoping to seal vents with silicone, but I prefer not removing the bumper so I might try this when it gets a little warmer as I don't have garage.
@moremolecules2 жыл бұрын
@@panchodavilla I also did not want to remove the bumper, too many plastic clips that always break in my hands. They always become brittle with time and then it is a nightmare to put back together. I also thought about silicone, but it is a bit too permanent for my liking.

Great video, thanks - is that flat grey circle on the boot floor a drainage plug? If it is, there would be no need to drill holes in the boot floor
@moremolecules4 ай бұрын
No it is not a drain hole and actually I do not know what it is for. From above, there is no hole. Nevertheless even if it was, just draining it from time to time will leave mold everywhere.
@steveskipper12834 ай бұрын
@@moremolecules thanks - I have a Citroen C4 coupe and I'm having the same issue. Is there an easy way to eliminate certain potential places for the leak to be coming from? For example, my boot floor carpet is dry, my headlining is dry. So does that mean that its something lower down that's the source of the leak - like these air flow vents that you've fixed?
@moremolecules4 ай бұрын
@@steveskipper1283 It is most likely the flow vents, but could well be something else, like the stop lights cluster or the boot opening/closing latch. You would need to investigate further where it might be coming from. Check all of these, finger touching to see wet parts.

@urbanskargren9310 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much... I explained the leakage problem to a car mechanic and he suggested I could just drill a hole through the bottom of the trunk straight down to the street so the water just drains away. What do you think about that?
@moremolecules Жыл бұрын
Yes, that is another option, but there will always be water in the boot depending on how you stop, uphill or downhill. You will have muck and water there, unless you drill several holes. I am on the opinion that better to see where it is coming from and fix it. It could be the boot door handle as well.
