This is truly an amazing car. I owned one for many years (77 V6 Automatique). You can not even describe the ride, and the comfort of the seats, and the fluidity of the steering. It was a remarkable car that just came out at a very bad time economically. I will never forget it. Very very special car, with a beautiful outline.

Gaspedal voll durchgetreten, dritter Gang, Überholvorgang mit Tempo 145 - im Überholverbot und bei Tempo-Limit 80. Anno 1975. Am Steuer: Der junge Sohn des Peugeot-Auto-Hauses. Fahrtzweck: Probefahrt. Auf dem Beifahrersitz: mein Vater. In der Mitte der Rücksitzbank: ein versierter Autotester (meine Wenigkeit). Ich war extrem begeistert: superleiser Wagen (bei 180 dieselbe Innenlaut- stärke wie ein Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9, nämlich 78 Dezibel), überragende Federung, gutes bis sehr gutes Fahrverhalten, superbequeme Sitze, sehr viel Platz, tolle Form und sehr gute Serienausstattung. Da konnte man jeden Mercedes derselben Fahrzeugklasse vergessen. Half aber alles nix (auch nicht die Probefahrt): mein Vater stieg später von seinem 504 TI auf einen Renault 20 GTL um. Ein automobilistischer Ab- stieg. My fathers son was not amused ... Der 604 ist noch heute (m)ein Traumwagen.

I had a 1978 504D and a 1982 604TD. They were daily drivers. I still think about them every week.

My parents had a 505 a few years ago with the PRV V6, great car, I love it how you get underestimated constantly in cars like that. 0:13 Driving there almost every day

The best car Peugeot ever made. I used to drive one in the late 70s / early 80s with the Volvo V6 engine. I'm not surprised how silent this is and stable at speed.In these days if you were doing 70 mph or 120 kph in a standard car like a Cortina / Taunus, you knew it. You had to cling to the steering wheel for dear life. Not true of the 604 though. Quite a presidential looking machine even now.

I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old PRV Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

Most funny thing these PRV Engines had much more hap than wrtten on paper, the carb 2,7 had 150 HP and the Injection 165 and the 2,8 even around 175 HP I measured them all on different cars

Unfortunately, I bought my mothers 604 V6 SL after a couple of drinks!!!! It was never great as it always had an engine issue! Then the auto gearbox started acting up and then it was run into whilst it was parked on the grass verge! However, when it did run correctly it was a sublime motorway cruiser, very comfortable and I loved the sunroof!
