Hi After using your great video to replace my clutch, (Fiat Ducato) Just by chance I think I found the fill for the gearbox. I removed the top gearbox mount which was held by two bolts and two studs. Removed the studs and one of the holes is drilled through. So the gearbox can be filled a little bit easier. Thank you again for the two videos very helpful in changing my clutch

Thanks for sharing your expertise. I have a Boxer III which needs new DMFW so I'm considering doing it myself. They don't seem to have changed much of the core mechanicals from the older boxer ..... how hard can it be?? 🙂

When you put a new clutch in, is it necessary to change the clutch pumps as well?
@richardrichard54092 жыл бұрын
Just to add some value, if the clutch release gearing bearing has failed and self destructed purchase a new clutch release arm and ball joint pivot before starting the job, they are only £20 the set and they are always damaged when the bearing fails. There is also a PTFE bearing on the rear of the arm that sits on a ball held by the bell housing....this bearing wears out taking out the pivot ball👍 The bearings make a noise before failure, change it before it fails completely😊

Is that pipe just to the left of the gear box and coming down from the window, the scuttle drain tube thingy? I've read that water can leak into the gear box from here. Is that right? Ta

Some of the Citroen / Peugeot gearboxes don't have a fill plug, basically what you need to do you drain them and then you fill them up with the exact amount of oil through the vent hole (you kinda pointed at that vent hole at 28:33 - the one with the black cap). I'm not saying this one is like this but if you can't find the fill hole then it most likely is. Thanks for the Citroen / Peugeot content, always look for those in particular.
@bodgitandleggitgarage6 жыл бұрын
Yes mate that's how I did it in part 2
@rzepekpl6 жыл бұрын
Sorted then :) Thanks for your reply. I knew you can figure that out, but hopefully it helps someone out there, I really like Citroen / Peugeot cars, but I must admit this is a bad design, getting rid of the gearbox oil dipstick was bad enough, then the fill plug, this is getting ridiculous...

@@bodgitandleggitgarage Great to watch and look for easier ways next time as ever thanks. Perhaps the oil fill hole is where the speedo connection is on the final drive, it looks about the right level????

What I've done in the past (on other vans / cars) that works, but don't know if it'll work on these (looks like it may) is leave everything connected to the box. Disconnect the lower ball joints on the front suspension. This gives the suspension room to move side to side. Then you can move the box over a foot or so but have it still in the engine bay. This gives room to get the clutch out and replace. No need to disconnect cables or drive shafts. Anyone tried it with these? Do need at least two jacks, one for the engine and one for the box. Just a thought.

I thought these had a pull clutch? I was told they did... will be overyjoyed if they all have a push, thats def my gearbox, and the filler is the black plastyic thing next to the reverse witch hole. (combined breather/filler, top pulls off)(just seen you sussed it) the gearbox selector shaft, water from windscreen drain p's all over it, as it gets old, it gets a gap round it, water runs down it and fills the gearbox with water... also ruins gear cables and them awful linkages (ask how i know) (I stuck a tinfoil tray over mine as a brolly...) what mine needs is some synchro's, I only have them on 2nd and 3rd lol
