2:07 Probably the most 80's advert ever: "Let's set fire to a field and drive the car through some explosions to the soundtrack of Take My Breath Away by Berlin!" "Why?" "Because this is the 1980's! Where style trumps substance every time! Now go fetch my double-breasted suit from the dry cleaners!"

Surprisingly still looks quite crisp and clean for a 30 year old car! And seemed to be well made. As good as its German rivals of the period at least, and probably better equipped too. Shame nobody really cared in the UK because it was too easily mistaken for a 405, and lacked a German badge on the nose.

@@Kev27RS Even so... it deserved more recognition and higher sales than it actually got. It was a very good car and I`d be happy to have it in my garague next to the mighty Citroën XM and Renault 25 Limousine. + When Mercedes, BMW or Audi has very similar looking line up nobody cares. People buy them anyway.

In about 1993 we were getting a new car and it was between a Granada 2.9 ghia, the 605 3.0sve or Lancia Thema 2.0 turbo. I begged my dad to get the Granada, and he did, and we loved it, great family car, but looking back, not sure it was the best choice.

The interior was a 100% Pininfarina's work of art.

*FALSE* Interior design: Paul Bracq (Peugeot) Exterior design: Gérard Welter (Peugeot) Repeating lies a thousand times does not make them true. Pininfarina competed against Peugeot's internal design team but they didn't get the job.
@Salman-sc8gr5 жыл бұрын
The lies are from you buddy. At the final meeting on 9,12,1985 the Pininfarina's interior design was approved. Page 40-42 book by Jan Norbye,the interior by Pininfarina was selected over the in house. one.
@canyellafina71625 жыл бұрын
@@Salman-sc8gr Why does not the 605 carry the Pininfarina emblem anywhere (all Pininfarina designs carry the emblem)? Because it would be false. I repeat that Pininfarina participated in the conception of the car as well as the Peugeot internal team. Both influenced the design and influenced each other. But I insist that saying that the interior is *100% Pininfarina* is a *lie*. And the same with the exterior. After the meeting you mentioned, the interior model of Pininfarina was evolved by the Peugeot internal team, led by Paul Bracq.

I use to work for Peugeot back in the 80s and early 90s....unfortunately the 605 was to similar to its smaller brother in design though ironically it seems to have aged fairly well, it was uninspired to drive...and was a total sales failure in its market sector, we had stock discounted to fleet management buyers at 45% of list price....and on average they were held in stock for 8 months....
