Pewter Pulse: Baker Mayfield & The Bucs Have WEAPONS GALORE!

Baker Mayfield had a career year in his first season with the #Bucs, passing for over 4,000 yards and throwing 28 TDs. ALL of Mayfield's main targets return in 2024 - and Tampa Bay just added another running back, another wide receiver and another tight end to the #buccaneers' arsenal for depth and increased competition. Scott Reynolds says that Mayfield has never had this much talent at the skill positions at his disposal before, which should help Tampa Bay's offense continue to ascend.

Agreed. And I think a reasonable jump is from 21 ppg to 24 ppg. The Bucs increased from 18 ppg in 2022 to 21 ppg last year. 24 ppg would rank inside the Top 10 in points scored.

Baker had a decent year, even with teams focusing on the pass game (run game wasn't a threat). If the run game can draw some attention of defenses this year, plus the new Receive Corp....dang we can see another record passing year from Baker!

Statistically speaking, Mayfield throwing for 4,000 yards with an almost 3:1 TD-to-INT ratio was quite good.

That rams game still gets my goat! I just know if we had just 1 of our weapons back that year we absolutely would have went back to back! However I'm still very hopeful of this new season! It's looking promising!

Yes. Either AB or Godwin would have made a huge difference for the Bucs vs. the Rams. I believe with every ounce of my being that Tampa Bay would have beaten L.A. in that game with one more weapon for Brady.

I do like your Pewter Pulse. Maybe you can expand it during the season. Maybe evaluate a few key plays during the game. Break a play down like Ronde Barber does. Biggest problem with Ronde is he is a master at breaking down a play. But only does a few plays a week. Should be doing 10 plays that week. He is brilliant at that. Maybe add a Player of the Game.

I'm excited, but there is a big concern. The O-line HAS to be improved for this offense to do well in this schedule. (It doesn't matter who the weapons are if the QB doesn't have time to find them, or allow them to get thru their patterns.) Our center is a rookie; we don't know who the LG is; and Cody Mauch needs to improve noticeably. And what if we have an injury or 2 along the O-line! I'm guardedly optimistic.

@@PewterReportTV I don't hear many suggesting that we just move Hainsey to LG. Why do you think that is? Isn't LG a little simpler to play than center? He's only 25 years old. (Still headed toward his prime. And it wouldn't mess with the chemistry as much as plugging in another new guy.) Plus, if Barton should get injured or sick, Hainsey would just move back over. I think O-line chemistry is important.

This team will be improved on both sides of the ball . They were top ten in sacks last year . (7th i think) Yes they blitzed a lot . They will not have to blitz near as much this year . Diaby and Kancy will combine for 20+ sacks . This team is on the rise .
