I am a total beginner at this and I absolutely appreciate your integrity in the industry and the willingness to share your knowledge and wisdom with the rest of us. definitely will be buying Dahl valves for future projects. 🙏🏾

Good vid. I always heat expansion PEX even in mild weather. Seems to me that it reduces stress on the pipe when expanded if it's up to about 100F.
@IntegrityRepipeInc2 жыл бұрын
I had never done that before but after playing with it this technique did work! Reduces stress I agree with you

This week we are re-plumbing our house. To warm the pipe before expanding we heat microwave rice heating pads 3 minutes each. We place the rice heating pads in a cooler bag to take down to the crawl space. The heat will last an hour or two. I keep a thermometer in the bag to know when the microwave heating pad gets to cool. If I do not have a microwave handy I figure on carrying a thermoses with hot water for a heat source.

Joe, love the videos. I know you mentioned you are not recommending this, but living in the middle of California & entering winter it gets into the 40 to 50's regularly in the morning. This makes perfect sense, so expansion of zurn does not get over stressed on a cold day expansion installation. Logically, when the line is active with running hot water it is fine. Thanks for the instruction on how to do it right.

I must confess that after playing with this technique it does work. Years ago heat guns where to hot. Now they work very well. Furno 500

Hi thank you for sharing all your insights. My question is what would be the most optimal piping and setup you would use for a water line out of the main.

Can you make a video that shows how to remove and replace bad Pex toilet supply valve or sink basin valve? What to do if there is not enough extra pipe sticking out of wall where you would have to cut out the bad valve? Thank you.

Go Home Depot ! ( no, not really). I stopped going to HD in 1995. Sure, they were the cat’s pajamas in SoCal after the ‘94 earthquake, but they grew arrogant and unfriendly soon thereafter. Lowe’s finally rescued me from HD hell when they came in, but developed the same attitude shortly. I’ve found my best products, help, and availability at the trade shops - lumber yards, plumbing shops, electrical supply houses... Thanks for the information, much appreciated! 👍🏼

Joe, thx for the video. Have you had any experience with the legend brand pipe, hyperpure pe-rt? It uses a chemical made by Dow that doesn’t require cross linking in the manf process. They are offering a 100 year warranty. It is 1960 rated, expansion compatible. I’ve got some uponor clear that’s only been in for 10 months and it’s forming brown spots on the exterior from the inside. I’m replacing it with the legend hyper pure pe-rt. Any thoughts?

Hello sir, Do you have experience using pex pipe as a mainline? Is it suitable enough for this use, and do you have any suggestion when doing it?

I like the idea of the Dahl push valves better than the f-1960. Would you trust that connection ? I have used other push connects with no problems.

Joe ,I need to know would a catalytic carbon filter stop the damaging effects of chloramine,I ask this because I did a job a few years ago,I was there today And I didn't see any evidence of damage of course the only way I could tell was discoloration which it had none. Sure would've been helpful to have found your videos before I did a whole house in Uponor pex A Thanks for the wealth of info that you share.

Is there a difference between zurn and sharkbite(home Depot) pex b? I haven't been able to get ahold of some zurn pipe yet but the sharkbite pex b seems to shrink back as long as you heat it up ive been using a cup of hot water or a space heater to heat it up for some test it but so far so good. I would prefer a pro opinion and test tho im just a competent diy it does take some finesse to not over expand and it definitely doesn't like being streched cold or below 75 ish it really hold the expansion memory
@thenexthobby Жыл бұрын
Sharkbite's PEX B does not conform to ASTM F1960, --- which is the cold expansion spec --- so if holds after being expanded, that's mostly luck.

Do you ever insulate your pex? I live in Vancouver WA in an older home and am looking to replace my galvanized with PEX A and am looking into everything to buy. One thing I'm not certain of is whether or not to insulate and to get it pre-insulated with that foamy sleeve when ordering or to do it myself? Thanks for any insight.

What’s your preferred fitting for Pex, brass or plastic ? I don’t think I’ve caught you mention that (sorry haven’t watched every video.) also aren’t they making stainless steel fittings too, are they any good?

Joe, my house in LA was repiped about 2 years ago with Uponor colored pex pipe and I've already had one leak at a joint which the plumber fixed. This was before I heard about the Uponor issue so that failed part was not saved. I'm stressed out after hearing about this Uponor failure, what's a homeowner supposed to do? Wait until more leaks develop which will cause substantial damage, or pay to repipe their house again which comes at a great cost?
@IntegrityRepipeInc2 жыл бұрын
Please call me at 949-340-4900 during the week please unless you have another leak then call anytime. You need to call me so I can instruct you on how to gather the sample for the warranty coverage.

How does the brass craft valve fail? Do they leak after 2-5 years?
@IntegrityRepipeInc Жыл бұрын
The handle sticks and will not close is the most frequent failure.
@KB-jd8tl2 жыл бұрын
what if you just use really warm water? throw some hot water in a bucket and stick the pex pipe in it for 30 seconds.
@IntegrityRepipeInc2 жыл бұрын
That will work, it will also warm the pipe faster. If you are using a Milwaukee electric expansion tool do not lets it get wet.

I think brasscraft is a decent company....I prefer them over dormant....and some have wonderd about BPA...leeching from plastic pipes on the hot side. Of a system....????..I guess. "Exspansion"!!!!! Is the beginning of damage that leads to failure????... cinch ring system may be best...
@IntegrityRepipeInc Жыл бұрын
The Pex A pipe fails in the center of the pipe all the time. No expansion. No cinch ring. No crimp ring.
@71organicmusic9 Жыл бұрын
@@IntegrityRepipeInc how does it fail??...it has highest psi rating....which exceeds the pressure in residential app...they say pex b when turns clear that its compromised...I don't like crimp rings i agree but the cinch clamps are the best...I think..they.are more restricted. But I think pex b fittings mite be too oversized..which over expands pipe at edges...I learned that from your video...
