It’s fucking crazy what it takes mentally to play QB at the highest level. You have to take that information in, announce it in the huddle, memorize what route every WR, TE, and RB is running. Then you have to step up to the line, make sure everyone is lined up right, survey the defense to see if you need to call an audible, call for the snap, and finally execute the play all within 40 seconds. Then you run it back and do it again!… probably the most difficult job among the top 4 professional sports
@FreewayBrent
@FreewayBrent Жыл бұрын
You have to have an extremely high IQ with borderline photographic memory to be able to properly memorize and master a NFL offensive playbook. It takes even more mental speed to be able to properly recall and execute those plays in a live game.

Alright so “Explode to Gun Rubber Right Flip” Is the formation. They start in one formation and shift to another. Terminology varies from offense to offense as to what the formation is. Zebra scat left is telling the Z to run a scat left, all the others “Y-Drag” etc. are just telling each specific guy what route to run on the pass play. There are 5 eligible receivers. They’re labeled different things in different offenses. Basically every offense has X Y Z, and the other 2 are usually some variation of H F T S. CAN 52 is the protection package. Sprint jaw easy is the RBs assignment. May or may not include a motion. On 2 on 2 is just the count within the cadence.

I saw them both play in high school. Eli was a much better passer from the get go. Peyton couldn't throw a spiral until his junior year and half of them looked like dying ducks. Eli's passes were always tight and crisp. Their nephew Arch is even more pinpoint accuracy and once threw a 75 yard touchdown ON THE FLY from his own 35 yard line to the back of the end zone for a touchdown. I saw it with my own eyes. 👁️👁️ And he made it look effortless; he didn't chunk it. It was all in a quick wrist flick. Totally awesome... a pro caliber arm on him in high school. 😎👍

Then we wouldn't get to see this kind of stuff. He loves both football and entertaining the fans with his personality. He now gets paid a lot to do both and doesn't have to deal with the stress of constant travel and potentially losing.

I’m not sure if players don’t study enough or just don’t have the memory but when I was in college I memorized plays, formations, position assignments, and hand signals for every position on defense when I was a safety in a span of two weeks. We had guys on the team who were junior and seniors who struggled with that stuff and I was a “walked on.”
