There is a new QB ranking article on PFF.com from Trevor Sikkema and it's very disrespectful to Detroit Lions Lions QB Jared Goff. Tune in to see how Morgan and Meko react to where JG falls on this list and where they believe he should actually be ranked in comparison to the other QBs in the NFL.

At the end of the 2022 season, PFF ranked the Lions’ OL at #21 for Pass blocking, and #9 for run blocking (the OL was injury riddled in 2022). After the Lions traded away Hockinson, Goff’s only top ten pass catcher on the team was Amon Ra. Goff still produced top five numbers in 2022. Bottom line: Goff does more with less supporting talent around him than just about any of the other top producing QBs in the league. No QB in the league has been more productive over the past 45 games than Jared Goff - and he’s been productive with fewer weapons around him than The 49ers have, or Miami, or Dallas, or the Eagles ...

@@RafiqWashington-tx7id I bring up 2022 because that was a year where Goff didn’t have an elite offense around him, and he still led the Lions to be a top three offense. Goff led the top three offense again in 2023, but the pieces around him were better.

@@MarkLeBay 2023 he had the best o line. The best running back tandem in the league and a top 10 wr and te receiving group. He also has the best offensive coordinator in football. He had 2 all pros and at least 6 players that were pro bowlers before on the offensive side of the ball. He still wasn't rated as top 5 qb last year by anyone. If he was show me who rated Goff in the top 5? We know stats can be misleading. I love Goff but I'm honest about his situation

@@RafiqWashington-tx7id I don’t care what others are rating Goff. I rate Goff at 5 - 8 among QBs based on his production and play on the field relative to the supporting talent around him. Over the final seven games of 2021 and throughout 2022 Goff had far less *_healthy_* talent around him than most other top producing teams, do you deny that? Look at the skill players on the Eagles, Dallas, 49ers, and Miami ( among others) compared to what the Lions had healthy in 2022. And why does Ben Johnson get so much credit? What has Johnson accomplished without Goff? The Lions are basically running the same offense Goff was perfecting with the Rams in 2018. Goff has picked-up from where he left off with the Rams in 2018, now with more experience and control over calling plays at the LoS.

Only reason Goff isn’t ranked higher as a QB is because of the mindset in the culture. If you’re not a flashy athletic running/scrambling QB, good luck being ranked high as a QB in this present time.

Pff is great for looking at raw stats. All their metrics they use can be skewed one way or another. Like passer rating and QBR. Goff is lower because he doesn’t throw a lot of TDS. But thats because they have an elite running game in the redzone. So never look at metrics or grades or scores. Look at the hard data

Herbert is rated high for potential and Rogers high for past deeds. Seems like criteria is fashioned to match Sikkema’s prejudice towards particular QBs. If judgments were based on who can take you to the Super Bowl, Prescott, Herbert and Rogers should not be in the top ten. Would you really want Herbert over Stafford in 2024? Give me a break.

Ranking injuried players and rookies ahead of Goff is ridiculous. If you say you rank by lifetime achievement you can’t put a rookie ahead. If you’re ranking by one year performance, you can’t put a player on IR ahead of him. If it simply performance for the pst two years, he’s better than all but 4 or 5 QB’s. He’s definitely above Dak, rookies and IR QB’s. Obviously Tamp Tre didn’t look at PFF’s ratings in 2023 because Goff was top ten in all QB categories, top five in several. This is just another nail in PFF’s objectivity/subjectivity argument. They are not objective. There is bias in Trey

PFF is lacking in assessing the intangibles that can be the difference between existing as a journeyman or being a franchise quarterback. Leadership, character, and the ability to inspire the best performances from his teammates is what makes Goff a Detroit Lion. Trevor should Re- watch the end of the Lions-Bears game and then try to explain his rankings.

Ok, PFF isn't a great debate. Let's talk about OTAs because that's what really matters now. What's really happening with the lions. Ok OTAs are here. What are you hoping to see this off season and do you have any surprises that we might not think about. Here are my crazy thoughts. Some may come true but Im good with being wrong. I want to see on Defense 1) Jack Campbell. Is he going to break out this year and take over the defensive leadership. I have been high on him and think he is better then AA. He plays downhill a lot more then AA and i think his coverage gets better this year. 2) Branch move to Safety and Iffy starts next to him with kirby being a backup. 3) Who's the best CB out of the 4 guys. I personally think Davis and Robertson will start, and Arnold should be the starting nickle with Rackstraw backing the CBs up. With Mosley when he gets healthy. Can always move branch to nickle on 3 safety looks and bring in kirby. If something happens to Arnold or he steps up his game and pushes out one of the other CBs sometime throughout the season. This would give Arnold an easier path to learn the defense without getting beat by guys like JJ, Allen, DJ and many others that we have to face this year. But i know they are looking the other way with Rack and Arnold. I just think his physicality is going to make it hard for him at CB right off the bat. Almost like Okudah had a problem with. Put him inside where he has help over the top by the single high safety. 5) Edge. Who is going to take the edge opposite Hutch. Is it going to be by commity with davenpot and Paschal on running downs and Betts and Houston on passing downs or us someone going to take the lead role and not let go. Offense 1) Jamo. Is he going to be a chase/hill type guy or is he just a wr on the team. I think he will take the step this year and push for an all pro status. He is just to explosive once he gets the ball in his hands and I feel he is going to be targeted a lot more. 2) O Line. How dominating is it going to be, and who steps up as a backup when guys get hurt. 3) Hooker. How does he look? Can we put him in on goalline and short yard situations. Have a Running qb at times where defenses have to prepare for something completely different then Goff drop back. Makes it easier for Goff and gives us a weapon that other teams have to prepare against. Because we have Goff we dont really have to worry about him getting hurt either. 4) Gibbs, do they put him in the slot more and have him and mont in, together. Give him fly sweeps and a reverse, as well as hitting him on crossing routes. Why take him out of the game. Let the boy play. He can be the number 3 WR when Mont is in an RB. Then, he can still get his touches at RB. Remember, he is a weapon, not an RB. These are my thoughts. Tell me what you think or if you have anything different.

i'm sorry but a QB who has been to 1 super bowl and was a field goal away from making a 2nd super bowl and who is coming off statistically his best season is not middle of the pack. every stat suggests he's at least a top 10 qb and really closer to a top 5 qb. you really have to use some mental gymnastics to say he's just "middle of the pack". because really, start looking at who he's being compared to. also i really don't like that they include aaron rodgers on the list at all because right now he can literally be a top 3 qb or a bottom 3 qb right now. we just don't know.
