And thats why Brent was so emotional looking when Kyle did his 9. That was the EXACT same scene as when the EK ran the first 9. If you watch just the end of both videos just the passes, they're identical.

I totally get when people say "wow, how things have changed", when comparing then vs. now. I started going to the Battle of the Imports up at Palmdale CA in the mid 90's, and was a regular at drag strips up until ~99. In the late 90's, I remember thinking "wow, how things have changed!". By the late 90's, you had lots of dedicated race cars, that were towed to the track. In the mid 90's, almost all the cars were street cars, that people drove there. It had a much more grass roots feel than the late 90's. 12's and 13's were considered fast!
@Alodri
@Alodri 5 жыл бұрын
We probably walked past each other in the paddocks at some point, especially if you came up to any of the Sac raceway events. Since I had just bought my crx in '93 it was natural for me to geek on the silver bullet crx. Ed's crx was cool too, liked the paint job on that one.
@PC-vl9co
@PC-vl9co 5 жыл бұрын
@@Alodri Ah yes, there were quite a few legendary CRX's back then, including Ed's.. By '98 I had a dedicated '90 CRX race car that I trailered to the track (guess I was part of that change in the later 90's). Before that I had a nitrous DC, and before that, an all motor DA. I'm 46 now, and still have a fully built turbo DC2, so I'm still doing this thing :)

No problem man, it was a treat. Reminded me of the old KCIR days in independence, Missouri. That was the track that I always went too until they tore it down for NOT A SINGLE GOOD REASON AT ALL. Just a few ppl that decided to move close to a track then complain about the noise. Smfh. It was really depressing when they tore it down. I’m pretty sure we’re getting a new track sometime in the next year. I hope so man. Us racers need it bad.

Better get another one soon man. 1-g talons are skyrocketing in price. I have a mint one owner automatic that I daily. And just bought a basket case manual with a dogbox built trans and alot of other great part's. It's been in a few accidents so going to be a full blown racecar. And the automatic is going to just stay covered and moth balled for another 10 years to keep it show quality. It's modified. But only very tasteful and high quality parts. I build my dsm for 800hp and only shoot for 500 so it will be very reliable even at 30+ psi of boost.

@Gt Godbear Motec may only make ecu’s but don’t let that distract you from the fact Brent is going to be running 3 Honda civics with spoon engines. On top of that he just came into Harry’s and ordered 3 T66 turbos with NOS’s and a Motec system exhaust. Rumor has it that Brian still owed Dominic a 10 second car after Tran shot the Eclipse up, while Brent was being positive out in Colorado running 9’s like it was the normal e/t of the era lol

If you noticed he had wheelie bars on a fwd car. That keeps the car from squatting. It also puts more pressure on the front tires. Allowing for better traction and quicker 60ft as well as 1/8 mi. They don’t let you do that now. The reason being if you blow your front tire it makes a dramatic turn on the blown tires side. You crash in the end.

Are those bars on the rear for stability? Hardly wheely bars for front wheel drive? Great to see Brent had the crowd support...

Brent I'm prepping a y7 block with a Z6 head and I am curious about how to go about the ECU wiring is there any way you can help me to at least get it started and I'll probably even driving from Miami so you can tune it

Hey Dan (or anyone else OG) why did they stop using wheelie bars/traction bars on fwd race cars? What did they replace them with?

What I enjoy about old footage is not being able to see every detail. It reminds you it was from a different and likely better time. When I can see some dude's chin whiskers from ten feet away, that's too much.
