I totally get when people say "wow, how things have changed", when comparing then vs. now. I started going to the Battle of the Imports up at Palmdale CA in the mid 90's, and was a regular at drag strips up until ~99. In the late 90's, I remember thinking "wow, how things have changed!". By the late 90's, you had lots of dedicated race cars, that were towed to the track. In the mid 90's, almost all the cars were street cars, that people drove there. It had a much more grass roots feel than the late 90's. 12's and 13's were considered fast!
@Alodri5 жыл бұрын
We probably walked past each other in the paddocks at some point, especially if you came up to any of the Sac raceway events. Since I had just bought my crx in '93 it was natural for me to geek on the silver bullet crx. Ed's crx was cool too, liked the paint job on that one.
@PC-vl9co5 жыл бұрын
@@Alodri Ah yes, there were quite a few legendary CRX's back then, including Ed's.. By '98 I had a dedicated '90 CRX race car that I trailered to the track (guess I was part of that change in the later 90's). Before that I had a nitrous DC, and before that, an all motor DA. I'm 46 now, and still have a fully built turbo DC2, so I'm still doing this thing :)

And just bought a basket case manual with a dogbox built trans and alot of other great part's. It's been in a few accidents so going to be a full blown racecar. And the automatic is going to just stay covered and moth balled for another 10 years to keep it show quality. It's modified. But only very tasteful and high quality parts. I build my dsm for 800hp and only shoot for 500 so it will be very reliable even at 30+ psi of boost.

If you noticed he had wheelie bars on a fwd car. That keeps the car from squatting. It also puts more pressure on the front tires. Allowing for better traction and quicker 60ft as well as 1/8 mi. They don’t let you do that now. The reason being if you blow your front tire it makes a dramatic turn on the blown tires side. You crash in the end.
