Isaiah picked up this little Ef civic and put together his first turbo kit. He went through all the growing pains we all did and learned a ton. Now he’s here at Pfispeed from cedar city Iowa with his single jingle creation . Once we sort out some gremlins it gets a tune and puts a big ole smile on his face. So join us now and let’s all get to work.

Japan is big huge money. They are into GTR's and more expensive supercars. SPOON is still going super strong though. Why do you think so many thousands of Honda JDM motors come to the USA aside from the milage/age/registration issues presented by Japanese government? People upgraded and don't want to dump money into extending the registration and proving the emissions. Look at Singapore. The only Hondas you will see are City's. If it is an EF it will be somewhat an original beater that is only still there because the driver truly loves that car and makes $250K USD a year or more. Possibly a 2nd car.

I was never a big Honda guy but those hatches are one of the best cars for the money. The only downside is now they've had so many hands on them you end up finding issues like you had to fix. Also I love how you guys don't trash the guys who are just starting out. We've all had to start somewhere and I wish I had a shop like yours near me years ago. I only had one dyno shop back in the day and they were DICKS. I was no noob but I bought a 96 EK hatch and it had a questionable turbo kit on it that was running pig rich. So being they were a Honda shop I booked a session to get a baseline on the car and see what it needed. I told the one guy I had bought it and just wanted the get it drivable and a list of issues to make a plan to sort the car. Anyway I walked around to talk to the "tuner" after they pulled it in. But he had a fit and started talking shit calling me a dumbass liar and all kinds of other shit. So I told them to stop and let me know what I owed them because of his attitude. I eventually got the thing sorted but it pushed my MK2 Golf project back because I couldn't daily it. But I did have the last laugh when the prick so called tuner was drooling over my MK2 Rallye clone in the pits at E-Town. At the time it was running the NA 16v motor from my Scirocco some chic rear ended texting. The Scirocco was my first car and I spent a fortune on the motor, it had a 2L 8V block, ported 1.8L 16V head, custom Mahle pistons @ 12.7-1 CR, knockoff Schrick cams, Scat rods and a Badger 5 45mm ITB setup. I was running Megasquirt for a ECU and it put down 237 in the Scirocco and only 191 whp in the synchro MK2 golf. Anyway once I told the ass hat who I was he stated talking shit again so I offered to race a NA CRX he built. He swore he was going to smoke me since I didn't even have 200whp, but he was clueless as to what Synchro meant ;-) he even talked shit about having 205 50 15 MT radials on all 4 corners thinking I did it for looks or something and the Haldex diff let me do a FWD burnout. Now I didn't smoke him, but I murdered him on the short end and he didn't have enough to run me down even with at least 80 whp more. Also I later learned he was playing "tuner" with his parents money, but they pulled the plug on his venture not long after during their divorce.

What I'd love to say to business owners. Take note. This is how you treat people. With respect and understanding. You want kosher reliable business. This is how you do it without having to sell out or do things you'd normally not do as a moral human.

Brent, in general (not asking about this customer or exceptions), how do you estimate the cost of a tune? Do you have a flat rate, do you create an estimate based on each project, or is more based on time poi’s parts? There are so many examples of you guys wrenching...repairing...replacing...all far outside the scope of what most tuners offer, or are even capable of offering. Your experience combined with your Staff plus your facility...all extremely impressive!
