Brent, with these 8th gen civics be careful with the 4 port solenoids. The ecu analog output signal is weak from factory so what alot of us guys do is install a PWM signal booster box to help aid the signal in order to control the solenoid properly. But once you have that booster, the 4 port works crazy good!

Where exactly would you buy a pwm signal booster from,as you cant purchase one from vitviper anymore?
@austinhatz

@@kongthao4742 Since they aren't produced anymore you would have to buy one second hand. Or have someone with one open it up and find out what's inside to recreate one.

Beautiful Car! Most of the time Brent makes it look so easy to tune. But like this one, it takes experience over years to diagnose different things to get it where it is supposed to be. Nice to have others to bounce ideas off of. And Jamey is right there with a suggestion and a solution to help Brent get it done. Jamey is a great tuner on his own as well. What a team at PFI!

Good video guys.This is what makes your channel great,it's about Brets ability and willingness to teach what it going on with the build and how different components affect the production of power.And yes this is techy nerd stuff to some people,but that's because they don't understand cars or are in it just for bragging rights.This owner appears to be a earnest STUDENT,he wants to learn from THE BEST>..I took auto classes in college,30 years ago, straight A's ,all the while i was working at a shop. i wanted to learn WHY things worked,they had blowers back then not turbo's,the physics behind all this is what's interesting. BRET is THE PROFESSOR.

Question for Brent, how come you decided against using Flashpro's quickspool feature? Instead of giving the solenoid a bunch of duty down low, QS will hold the gate shut until the target boost pressure. It'll help immensely with spool time & will stand the car up harder for a better graph. Ran into that same issue with my own car. FP's boost control is pretty bad but I've figured out a few of the tricks on my own car. 4port will create a lot of problems on that ECU since the EGR circuit pin it uses is subpar, you'll find that you won't have much control. Some guys have used 0-5v PWM amplifier to help. Easiest way is to stick a 10lb gate spring in and stick with the 3port.
@PFIBrent
@PFIBrent 5 жыл бұрын
I do it with the table instead of the quick spool function . It isn’t as easy to predict as building your own curve . Nearly the same thing just have control so you don’t get ocelation with your boost. 4 port at 50 hertz becomes a lot more predictable as well.
@E85armedFG2
@E85armedFG2 5 жыл бұрын
@@PFIBrent fair enough, both achieve the same end goal! I've played with freq settings on another 4port 8thgen turbo car, we had some pretty big issues with boost running away to boost cut and it wasn't boost creep unfortunately. I'll be interested to see how it goes next session. Thanks for sharing!
