On the evening of November 17th, 2001 record setting rain and flash flooding severely impacted the Austin area. The District had all of it units committed to multiple water rescues that night. Sharon Zambrzycki was one of three motorist caught in the flood waters in brushy creek between Pflugerville and Hutto. Firefighters Tim Wallace, Thomas Lott, and Trevor Stokes were assigned to the water rescue on brushy creek with reports of several people in the water. When they arrived on scene they found Ms. Zambrzycki was the only survivor. Wallace and Stokes were able to locate her hanging onto a tree in the dark and stormy conditions.
