Such a Profound and enlightening speech, bringing out the Merits of Sanskrit in such a beautiful manner. There is no doubt that Sanskrit is the most Ancient language in the world and all other Languages derived from it. We Indians are really Blessed to have this Gem, and all the Ancient Literature , which are all evidently written in Sanskrit. In Tamilnadu, most of the people certainly want to learn both Sanskrit and Hindi, given a choice. But the Politicians Play the Dirty Game of Banning , both these languages, Just for their political Gains. May God Save India from these wicked politicians Ploy. JaiHind.

samskritam and pradeshika languages including Tamil, have different roles to play . Every language other than sanskrit is subject to constant change over time and place. The one that is perfect, the mother of all, stands unchanged and ever kind and ever magnanimous and loving. She is there providing support, wisdom, knowledge, know-how , new words all the time, to her children(vernacular languages) who swerve away from parental wisdom, truth and have shortcomings or simply fall short. Sanskrit enriches other languages. That is why they coexisted. Sanskrit has provided grammer and verbal support to languages all over the world , not just Bharatam. We cant read old Tamil texts and understand them clearly, as we can with sanskrit ancient texts, even though Agastya rishi wrote grammer for Tamil when he moved to south. And the British messed up Tamil script completely beyond recognition after Grantha script was dropped, now even pronunciation and sounds are missing in Tamil, as Tamils still continue to their brain-washed hatred to their own roots. In addition the divisive politicians did their part, changing script further for no reason. These were systematic attempts to alienate us from the old texts and the knowledge in them , and make us feel inferior to the west, and degenerate. Every time there is some video about Sanskrit , some fanatic(perhaps christian converts or paid agents) has to come and say "Tamil oldest, so great" etc, whether there is any relevance or not. They have neither studied anything in Tamil nor in Sanskrit. If they did, they will know the difference. My dear fellow fools, who fight about tamil, sanskrit etc but continue to study only English, which is inferior to both, : PLEASE WAKE UP AND LEARN. GIVE UP JEALOUSY AND HATRED TOWARDS YOUR OWN ANCESTORS< WHO NURTURED YOU> STOP CUTTING YOUR OWN ROOTS. You have spent generations now selling ancestral properties and paying through nose to learn English and English only, and criticize the ancient teachers who taught free !!!!

If Urduized Hindi (Hindusthani) , were not there , Hindi would have gained more solid ground..and acceptance even in The South ..Even now, the Southerners when they learn Hindi , it is more grammatical and chaste and closer to Sanskrit ..then again, the dmk fanaticism has played the role of blocking both Sanskrit and Hindi .. Yes, every child's overall and Multi-dimensional personality and Human & Spiritual Potential would be developed by learning Sanskrit...

Great talk. Prof Sidharth Kak did not touch upon Tamil. So wish to post following points. 1. Both Tamil and Sanskrit are very ancient languages. Entirely different, but have coexisted for 1000s of years. 2. Textual evidence - Purusha Suktam’s first line SAHASRA SIRUSHA PURUSHA HA echos in the first paripadal “ஆயிரம் விரித்த அணங்குடை அரும்தலை”. Which means lord with thousand heads. 3. Textual evidence - Purusha Suktam says AJAYAMANAHA BAHUTHA VIJAYTHE. Namalzwar in his Thiruvaimozhi says “பிறப்பில் பல்பிறவிப் பெருமான்”. Both mean - never born, but reborn infinite times. 4. Scriptual evidence - Srimad Bhagavatam says Bhakti originated in Dravidam. Dravidam means the land mass and not race. The sage Satyavratha who interacted with Lord’s Matsya avatharam was a Pandiyan King. No prizes for guessing what was on Pandiya flag. 5. Why this divide then? Two - fake Aryan invasion theory and outright falsification of Bharat’s historical chronology. 6. Galaxy loads of evidence exists against AIT/AMT. Least of which is conclusive proof of existence of Saraswati river during Ramayana times.. But it never goes away. 7. Read “Plot in Indian Chronology” by Pandit Kota Venkatachalam. The British Indologists simply deleted 1000s of years of Bharat’s Royal dynasties to myths just to bring it “in line” with Biblical chronology which (falsely) said World was created just 5000 years ago.Hence both Mahabharata and Ramayana were dubbed as “Myths” 8. Why would falsifying chronology affect Tamil - Sanskrit relation? For example Namalzwar the 6th Alzwar was born 45 days after advent of Kali Yuga which is 3102BC. Western Indologists put it at 9BC. Why? Because 3102 BC = advent of Kaliyuga which is a myth according to fake Indologists Jai Hind

First 4 avatars of lord vishnu (Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha) are cosmic allegories. Tamil and Malayalam are the oldest "kaliyuga" languages (originated after 4000 BC). Sanskrit is THE divine language. It was the spoken language of the whole world before 4000 BC. Sanskrit is also the language of the universe or pancha-mahabuthas. Sanskrit vibratory frequencies are in sync with vibratory frequencies of sub-atomic particles like bosons and fermions. Tamil does NOT have the same vibratory frequencies of sanskrit. It is the reason why sanskrit mantras cannot be replaced by tamil mantras in hindu temples. Like the universe (shakthi), sanskrit is never born and can never die. It is ageless

BHARATGOPAL RAJAGOPALAN Respectfully disagree friend. Yours is a predominant western lens of seeing our Samprathaya. Mine is too, but think less so. Degrading Tamil or Sanskrit is like blinding one’s own eye for a Ubaya Vendanti like self. If Sanskrit is divine; so is Tamil else why would Divya Prabandams be in Tamil? Sriman Narayana’s countless avatars starting from Sri Vishnu are very real not allegories. But you are entitled to your views. Trying to put a Gregorian colander date/year for origination of Bharat’s languages is typically western. Bharatwasis have bigger battles to fight than to do meaningless research on what was older - Sanskrit or Tamil. Thank you for the inputs. Adiyen Ramanujadasan Gokul

To add, Sri Vaishnavas in Tamil Nadu are the living examples of Sanskrit / Tamil coexistence.. Why? Tamil Nadu Sri Vaishnavas (self included) proudly call themselves UBAYA VEDANTHIS. Sadly, a lot (including yours truly until some time back) do not know what UBAYA VEDANTHA really means. So here goes : Some Vidishtadwaithins follow and learn only Sanskrit Vedas, While some others follow only Dravida Veda- I.e 4000 Divya Prabandams. Learned Acharyans BEFORE Udayavar Ramanujar call these people “one eyed”. To have the CLEAREST understanding of Vishista Dwaitham one has to read both Sanskrit Vedas and Divyaprabandams. A Visishta Dwaithin following BOTH Sanskrit Vedas and Divya Prabandams has better clarity than the one following only Sanskrit or Dravida Veda; and is called Upaya Vedanthi. Adiyen Ramanujadasan Gokul PS : Term Dravida used in post refers to landmass, not race. Edited

Also, not Vidishtadwaitin .. It is VISISHTTHAADWAITAM ( THE PHILOSOPHY ) . IF ONE IS PRACTISING IT , HE IS CALLED A VISISHTTHAADWATIN..Yes, a Sri Vaishnava ..Founded by Sri Ramanujachaarya ADWAITHAM IS NON-DUAL PHILOSOPHY - Aadi Shankaraachaarya DWAITHAM IS DUAL..- Madhwachaarya VISISHTAASDWAITHAM, which is Visesha, as it differs slightly from both the above philosophies.. There are others like DWAITAADWAITHAM- Sri Vallabhaachaarya etc.,

Bakula Thompson Adwaitha = Adi Shankara Bhagavatpadal = only Paramatma all rest illusion Dwaitha = Maha Acharyan Ragavendra Swami = agrees with Adwaitha, but positions athma as “Jeevathma” until it realizes Paramatma. Vidhistadwaitham = Udaysvar Ramanujar = Paramatma (Purusha) distinct from Jeevatmas. Both remain distinct forever; in Vaikunta too. So for Vishistadwaithis - this world and experiences of ALL Jevatmas in this world or any other is VERY REAL, NOT ILLUSION. Adiyen Ramanujadasan Gokul

Srinivasan Gokul there are a lot of words in Tamil that are Sanskrit. Please read the book “ Tamil Nadu, the land of Vedas “ by the great scholar Dr Nagaswamy. Being a Tamilian, I need to admit that even the oldest Tamil literature mentions about “ Nan Marai” which are Vedas and were written in Vedic Sanskrit( obviously at some later stage, as Vedas were Srutis, heard and not written ). I can’t recall now the name for Vedic Sanskrit before Panini’s Samiskritham.

Why not instead create mantras in local languages that can help people to improve intellectually? There is nothing very special about Sanskrit literature, so that particular claim is an exaggeration. The claim that modern science has not reached the point of ancient Hindu science is absurd.
