I don't really know any specifics beyond the applications in speedrunning, and I don't recommend using anything dodgy like this with permanent characters (anything you'd be sad if messed up). Other similar applications can crash the game and not saving properly can make PSO cranky.

Is the sequence of buttons once you have the bank menu and inventory different on Dreamcast v1? It's harder to tell what I'm doing because the bank menu disappears once you're in your inventory on v1, but it drops one meseta and deposits the rest in your bank without duplicating

On v1, for some reason the trick works a bit differently and relies on there being a bit more lag with there being an item on the ground while dropping money to bring up a deposit menu that has more money than you actually have, so the trick won't duplicate until the second meseta is dropped. To work around this quickly you can add in an extra A,A,A sequence on the first cycle to drop 1 meseta, and stand still for the rest of the duplication (whereas GC can move towards the shop subtly and lag only slows things down). You can always press Start at any time to close the main menu and reveal the Deposit menu that is hidden behind it to see more clearly what is happening. Also, DC doesn't have traps to dodge around so that removes an Up input required to select meseta on GameCube.

Can I use this glitch at level 84 with a HUcast without messing up my file? Want to beat ultimate but don’t want to grind to level 100+ since I’ve played this game long enough as it is haha would the glitch still be active when I play again? Thanks

Weapon stacking is not permanent. Extra weapons are fixed by the game when loading/unloading a quest or when you load a file. I'm not aware of any permanent side-effects from doing this specific application of the glitch (with just weapon shenanigans). I don't really recommend using this just to beat Ultimate casually (not like you get anything in particular for it). You do you, though.

I'm playing PSO offline just to chill. Would it be hard to just stack 1 saber? Or 1 dagger?

Sure, one weapon will still look weird and just have a less pronounced effect.

Plus stops the key dual shop interaction if I recall correctly so none of these shenanigans work. Not sure if they solved all of the duplication problems (there are other ways to break the bank).

since i need a game to run besides Majora's Mask i want to look into PSO any%. this tutorial helped a lot! you mentioned that mechguns don't behave well. i wanted to beat Dark Falz' final form (on normal) with a mechgun, because i saw that strat in a speedrun last year. it didn't land a single shot and Dark Falz obliterated me of course... any backups? i tried Shot +3 but that didn't go too well.

In short, Mechguns are an advanced optimization--you will beat Vol Opt and Falz slightly faster. The reason I say "advanced" is you have to "fix" your inventory, and going out of your way to do that or get Mechgun in the first place isn't worth the few seconds it saves. When your weapons are invisible, Mechguns don't function properly because they have the unique property of firing bullets from where the weapon is drawn, or if it's not drawn, (0,0) coordinates on the map, which generally doesn't work. The Mechguns are invisible because only 12 pieces of equipment may be drawn at once and they get taken up by 12 of the stacked Saber. To fix it, one way to do it is to unequip your weapon, then drop one of your stacked Sabers. This frees up one of the drawing slots, and mechguns will start working again. Be aware that doing additional inventory shenanigans like cycling your mag may undo this if it causes your current weapon to become unequipped, it's burned me before. Otherwise, without Mechgun, you'd use Shot to clear phase 0, then Handgun/Rifle for the rest. Generally you should never be in a position where Falz can actually land a hit on you but knowing how to mitigate attacks (i.e. dodge, use a PB, etc.) helps when your DPS is still developing. I'll probably cover more in future videos too, just have to find some time.

@@akdylie thank you so much for the detailled answer! can't believe there's no official PSO Speedrunning discord yet :) I finally finished my first to runs and Sniper was good enough for Falz. And i should focus way more on learning the map layouts because i always lose way more time getting lost than on Falz. :D

​@@G3neziz GG. Map memorization comes with time. Reading map guides as you go helps but those seconds of hesitation add up. For now at least, my Discord server is probably the closest thing to a "PSO Speedrunning Discord"--there weren't many other active runners until recently. We're compiling info and new findings there at least. New runners are welcome, of course.

I kinda need to focus on practicing the runs i'll be showing off :D one quick question tho: i heard and read the term "telepipe clipping" a bunch while researching but couldn't find a video. what's the deal with that trick? how does it work?

​@@G3neziz Apologies for the delayed response (notifications are not working well for me I guess). I'll cover this in the next video coming not-soon-enough. The gist of it though is that doors are not just solid walls, but they push you away. However, this collision is missing for a fraction of a second when you load the level. So you have enough time to pipe in, take a small step, lay down a new pipe, pipe out, and repeat until you start getting pushed out to the other side of a door. This is useful in Episode 1 only on the 2 slower Forest 1 stages, as long as you can make it through in ~5 pipes (just takes some timing practice).

It's a pity that after saving and loading the game, all weapons are removed. And yet, you can’t die, otherwise all equipped weapons will fall out of your inventory 😅

It's not quite like that. On the Dreamcast/version 1, about 8 of the weapons drop but not all. Not sure if it's different on version 2. On GameCube, only the weapon slot weapon becomes unequipped just "like normal".

Sorry about that! I didn't want to get too in the weeds explaining every little thing that was happening in too much detail once things start getting a bit heavy. Hopefully the overlay describing the open menus helps clarify things a bit, and hopefully this is still better than just watching a run and trying to figure out what's happening. Ultimately the trick becomes very mechanical when you're pushing for speed, so presenting things as a sequence of inputs makes some sense. I think every runner will have to adjust to what helps learn and remember.

@@akdylie hey man I figured it out lol I just watched it over again and did the steps carefully. I think I was just messing up on the meseta duping and it was throwing the whole glitch off but thank you! I was stuck on cave boss so I had to resort to this stacking glitch. Appreciate it
