Montech Sky Two GX would be a good one, it's an improvement over the original Sky Two following customer feedback which is good to see. As a budget case with a hinged tempered glass panel, mesh front and 3 included 140mm fans I'd love to see how it actually performs for the price (about $60 for me). The older Montech Air 903 Max is another one I'd like to see, at around $65-75 it's a seriously good deal for such a large case with 4 included 140mm fans. I'd actually love to see if it's as thermally good as I think it is because at the monent it's my go-to recommendation for people on a budget since the feature set is so hard to beat.

Perhaps it's because there isn't really much technological advancement with cases, so unlike CPU or GPU reviews there is no pressure to keep up. Except for airflow, cases some down to the features you want rather than how 'good' it is.
@joeykeilholz9259 сағат бұрын
There is so much to actually consider with a case for something that's "just a box". Smart decisions matter more here than a gpu cooler or something where it just needs to be cool and quiet while looking good and not being super massive. This level of feedback contributes to better cases when companies pay attention and filter/use feedback properly. In that way, it's an insight into the decisions that are made with cases and how they are/are not changing. It also has so much subjectivity despite how much case designs have conformed. There are use cases (ha) where a case makes more sense for a certain person's priorities, including future decisions for upgrades down the line. I think the case is the most important part of the personality of a build - and often overlooked - so a pristine level of detail that takes the time to explain why a decision may be good or bad and what compromises had to be made is deeply interesting. There's nothing that's reviewed quite like a pc case.
@max5183Күн бұрын
What cases do you wanna see: Performance oriented ones, preferably even without a glass panel. I've gotten older and don't care about rgb at all anymore, the pc sits under my desk. Airflow and good workspace / cable management are the only important things for me. I know a sidepanel out of glass or plastic or metal doesn't really change anything. There aren't fans on all sides, so it's okay to have a panel. It's just that i don't want the focus to be on looks.

A steel or mesh side panel is much better than a glass panel because if it does not allow the GPU's hot air to directly leave the case already then one cut out a respective duct oneself. The stupid tempered glass that almost everyone uses cannot be modified at all. I don't understand why not more cases provide a solid side panel option (like the Fractal Torrent for example). It is furthermore disappointing to see the PSU almost always being mounted so that it is in the way of optimally cooling the GPU. Dual chamber cases are ideal, but typically go for the fishbowl design where even the front is glass. :(
@fvdeddrift16 сағат бұрын
My das, and nas both sit under a desk on a shelf that provides the same volume of air as it being on top of a desk... But I made a couple super simple mods to my O11 AirMini's that make them perform like ducted monsters! Even being stacked on top of one another! They exchange a TON of air! Lol! 11 fans, no problem! And 4 can be 140's! Or if yer MB vrm's aren't giants... It'll take 8 140mm fans without headache! But having that pair of 140's up front and a 280 rad or AiO on the back panel with 720mm of fans split betwix'd the top and bottom makes for a stunner of an air mover! This is just akin to hot-rodding a PC case. If yer into cool shit... Lol! This is right up yer alley! One really nice thing about keepin g aglass side panel is for positive pressure, and the inherent cleanlieness that comes with it. Full mesh cases, no matter what kind of pressure orientation will always be a pain in the ass to keep clean cuz each hole will be a dust trap!

I bought this case a few days ago, very impressed with how quiet it is. I will however say that I don't recommend anyone buy the bottom intake fans, they make the case 3x louder, it's unbearable, and they make an annoying hum, I guess there's too much turbulence or something. I was also looking into the Lian Li Lancool 207, but that was sold out everywhere in the UK, and there's a lot of reports of the front fans causing a lot of noise.

Nice showing for a basic performance-focused case by Phanteks. My previous case was a Phanteks model which supported an optical drive, and I mostly really liked it. Proprietary lighting is proprietary, but I MADE an adapter using jumper wires that any RPi/Arduino tinkerer will have on hand. Branded adapters weren't overpriced and I've got a couple now-although after dealing with two systems with ARGB … I'm ready to go back to blackout. My current case is made by Corsair, but neither Corsair nor NZXT will get a dime from me unless or until some major business practice changes happen. If I refused to buy from anyone who didn't 100% share my values I wouldn't buy much of anything from anyone, but I have a choice here to give my money to at least nominally less gross corporations. Lian Li, Fractal, Phanteks, and Antec are companies that have a better vibe, honestly. Since the North was within margin of error of the excellent Torrent without looking like HVAC gear, that was a major choice for this next build … but there are better-performing options now. Which is amazing because the performance of the North and Torrent before it blew everything else out of the water when they launched. And … performance first (after No Thank You sleazey Corsair/NZXT), so maybe the North or North XL won't be my choice.

I love my Phanteks P400A (that I bought on your recommendation btw). This new one looks like a compelling upgrade for a similar price, I really like this one. The inclusion of an exhaust fan this time is a nice touch that saves you money over the P400a, too.

This is a great info set here. Very in-depth. Y'all should look into the Geometric Future brand of cases. It'd be interesting to see how they hold up.

Hey GN. Have you guys looked into a test more optimal for quiet cases? Having a set power usage by the components with measured variables being noise and temperature. If someone is buying a silent case or a small form factor they should already know that they are compromising on thermals and airflow so they probably wouldn't purchase a 5090 or some other extremely power hungry component. I think it would be good data for seeing if there is any point in buying a 'silent' case if its going to ramp up fans pushing it to the same noise level as an airflow case. I think that the answer would change between different power consumption: 300 watts, 400 watts, 500 watts, and so on.

I'm all for front fan filters. If you want more ventilation, just remove it. It's much easier this way than vice versa

i mean this in the most respectful way possible; the talking was a little "loud" and fast in this, I really struggled. Might just be me having a bad day but compared to your other videos I noticed a difference, it was almost like you were in a rush to catch a plane or something. Peace and love

I remember my 1st phanteks case was amazing, this G400A seems to be a solid option for my next build

Still rocking my P500A case thanks to GN! Such a great case. Really love the brand and seeing it back amongst the reviews.

Nice to see Phanteks making an effort to keep up with stiff competition. I'm mostly content with my old enthoo pro, but I'm starting to eye alternatives. "Obnoxious" might be the last word I'd use to describe GN or its website.

I love Phanteks. I really liked the P600S Eclipse i bought, so I bought their air cooler, fans, and power supply.

Nice review. I hope we'll have more companies release direct competitors to the Antec Flux Pro (full tower size with 420mm radiator support at top), because the Antec Flux Pro is out-of-stock most of the times, often for months (at least here in the UK), and shops which have it are selling it above retail price. Not sure why: maybe availability is very low, or it's very popular (or maybe both). Anyway, looking at you Lian Li / Phanteks / Fractal

From the few people ive seen who own this, they werent fans of the construction, they said it feels very cheap. Also they giga increased the price. In china its 50-60 and then they said itd be 80 ish in the us but its $110 and gl finding one. At that point get a king 95 pro or other fan included case

I'm currently using the g500a for my new build, but honestly phanteks has some of my favorite cases to build in.

I would be really eager to see the 5090 FE in some console-style SFF cases that best take advantage of the flow-through design. Keep up the great work!

Man, cases are the only thing which still make me want to build my own PC. That is actually fun. Routing cables. Planning fans. Motherboards, CPUs and especially graphics cards in the current gen might as well be beige. But cases and form factor. There is a reason why the most exciting thing these past few years was the Steamdeck. Which delivered where the RT-AI-NFT bs does not deliver. Is it weird that I just gently stroked my white Meshify 2 as I wrote these lines? The top of it was nicely warmed by the Arctic Freezer I have configured to exhaust upwards. A 5600X probably does not need a dual-fan AIO for cooling. But it keeps my 8600XT company. The white Cablemod cables run through my fingers like only cablemod cables can. The black plastic cable combs nicely accentuate my AMD-themed build from 4 years ago. The EVGA PSU is irreplaceable. And she purrs like a sailboat on the ocean propelled by a soft scirocco blowing in towards the sunset. Is any of what I just wrote weird?

I still have my white P400A Digital and it's going on strong. Interesting to see the new revision.

Populating the fan mounting locations on top of the PSU shroud should become a part of the test suite at this point. Many new cases have mesh shrouds and it clearly makes a difference in GPU temps for the likes of the lancool 207 or fractal torrent. It would be interesting to see how well this works on oher cases.

The fact that Phanteks removed RGB built in controls and makes you buy a controller is total BS, I am not gonna buy another phantek product if they keep this up

I still use the PHANTEKS P500A DRGB, housing an RTX 3090FE and a 10850k cpu, 32gb ddr4 3600mhz, z490 vision mobo, top of the line back in 2020.

Nice to see Phanteks put out some new Stuff. Will there be a Review of the Evolv X2 aswell? The thermal revieew especially with a flow through card like the 5000 Founder Series should be an interesting casy study, since the Case is heavily leaning on a bottom to top straight flow approach.
